Poor Girl Becomes Empress

Poor Girl Becomes Empress
Chapter 18: Marriage and Uninvited Guests

"Save congratulations on the emperor's wedding!"

"Congratulations to the queen!"

In the main hall were hundreds of people working in the palace, including ministers, soldiers, and servants. They all prostrated themselves on the pedestal that was above the main hall street. A few minutes ago, Wei's wedding ceremony and inauguration as the new empress had been carried out smoothly.

In the end Wei could not escape or refuse. He was already tied up in the palace so could not think of going anywhere. He could have jumped into the lake earlier had Nui not come to the empress' residence and then told Wei of the past.

Wei looked at Fengying who was sitting beside him. Although it was a wedding day, but that face did not look warm at all. Wei seemed to see the other side of Fengying. This is the man who is now her husband.

A few seconds later Wei turned his gaze towards his parents who were sitting in the special seat of the royal family. He smiled as he saw Jiang and Yihan wearing decent clothes. At least he has raised the degrees of both his parents. Isn't it okay to suffer little by little for the sake of his family?

Fengying immediately stood up from her seat when suddenly an arrow struck right at the wooden pole beside Wei. Everyone was now panicking and immediately stood up from their seats. The soldiers had been scattering to capture the man who had fired arrows near Wei.

"You okay?" said Fengying while examining Wei's arm. There was panic from her eyes that made Wei speechless.

Fengying found a paper scroll tied to the arrow. He immediately picked it up and started reading it. What was written on the paper made his anger instantly explode.

"It's so brazen! The one who shot this arrow must be my enemy! He threatened to kill the empress, how dare he! Quickly find this man and bring him before me!" wii's command with a sharp glint of eyes made the remaining soldiers in the main hall immediately move.

The palace is really chaotic because of the arrival of this uninvited guest. The royal families one by one began to come out of the main hall, clearly they were afraid of being targeted by Fengying's enemies and ended up being killed in vain.

Jiang and Yihan immediately approached Wei who was still sitting on the throne with a look of surprise.

Yihan gently rubbed Wei's arm making the girl wake up from her daydream. "You okay, empress?"

"I.." Wei had not yet finished his words, Fengying had already cut in.

"Bring the empress to her residence. It's not safe if the empress is here, that person will definitely shoot her again." Fengying said, causing Jiang and Yihan to bow their heads immediately.

"Okay, emperor."

As Fengying was going down the stairs, Wei pulled her hand. "Be careful, emperor." the two of them looked at each other for a while, then Fengying nodded her head.

Wei's hand slipped off as Fengying walked down the stairs. Wei seemed to forget about last night's incident where Fengying said he would make his life destroyed. His gaze was now inseparable from Fengying who had just disappeared behind the gate of the main hall with the soldiers behind him. He was worried, afraid that Fengying would kill the person who had shot the arrow with the letter on the arrow. Seeing how furious Fengying was, surely the man would not hesitate to kill anyone.

Ruyin and Tzuran came over to Wei with anxious looks. It made Jiang and Yihan nod their heads as if to say that Wei was fine.

"We'll take you to the empress' residence." Ruyin lowered her head to face Jiang and Yihan who were followed by Tzuran.

They then headed for the empress' residence. They walked not too far as the main hall was close to the empress' residence and the emperor's residence.

"Are you happy living in the palace, empress?" jiang asked as they reached the empress' residence.

Wei did not answer until they entered the house. Wei told Ruyin and Tzuran to prepare a table and a snack in the living room, after which she sat on the floor followed by Jiang and Yihan.

"I'm happy to live in the palace!" Wei smiled broadly trying to lie to her parents.

Jiang exhaled a rough breath. "Don't pretend to be happy, I know you're lying. I should have made you run away at that time."

"You must have suffered greatly in this palace, my poor son..." Yihan rubbed Wei's cheeks with teary eyes.

Wei's mood was again overwhelmed with sadness. He lowered his head to hide his teary eyes. Both of his parents knew he was lying, so Wei always failed to lie.

"Dad, mother, I'll be fine in this palace. I will try not to suffer, I will try more to get happiness. You don't have to think about me, just think of me as living happily in this palace." Wei looked at her parents who were already in tears.

"How can we not think of you? This incident will definitely happen again. I was afraid to hear suddenly that you were killed in the palace!" jiang exclaimed while wiping away the tears on both of his cheeks. She looked at her beloved daughter who had now officially become the empress of the Taoming Kingdom.

It felt like they had only cooked together yesterday after working all day. Those memories they would never be able to feel again. The quiet life they would never be able to feel. Really, the prophecy really changed their lives. Seen elevated in degree but in fact it was the starting point of destruction for them. It is better to live with low degrees than to live with high degrees but never be together again.

"As long as we talk about it, what if you run away today? Your father and mother will help you escape and make sure you're safe out there" Jiang said suddenly after a long silence.

Wei's breath was heard. "I won't run away, my place is here." said Wei sounding soft but giving a firm impression.

After seeing the events today, Wei was determined to never leave Fengying's side no matter what. As cold or harsh as Fengying's attitude would be, Wei would try to hold on. Seeing how Fengying was worried about him earlier, made Wei think that the man actually had a little concern.

"If I run away, it's the same as me violating destiny. I accept my destiny to be the queen of this land. I beg you to support my actions, do not ask me to run away again." continued Wei who made both parents unable to speak anymore.

Wei stood up from her seat. "Please wait here, there's something I want to give to mom and dad." after saying that, Wei immediately walked to her room.

Arriving at the room, Wei frowned when he could not find a living candle. Usually the waiter will light a candle if the room window is not opened. His room was only illuminated with light infiltrating from the cracks of the window making it difficult for Wei to see.

Just as Wei was about to light a candle, his activities suddenly came to a halt after hearing the slow pace from behind. He could clearly hear the sound of a knife being taken from his place in a quick motion.

Wei turned his head back quickly and reflexively immediately rewinded his steps when he saw a man wearing a black robe, a black wide hat, and a black mouthpiece was pointing a knife towards his neck.

"What's it like to be a queen who's going to die soon?"
