Poor Girl Becomes Empress

Poor Girl Becomes Empress
Chapter 1: Not the Important Person

In a forest, there is a small hut with a leaf roof that has been perforated. It was late at night, but a girl with long, tangled hair and ragged dirty clothes was still faithfully standing in front of the hut. He noticed the sky that began to turn orange, a sign that the day would soon be dark.

His eyes wandered around the forest, precisely towards the road like they were waiting for someone. Upon hearing the sound of footsteps, the girl immediately ran towards the streets.

However the girl stopped when she saw many Taoming Kingdom troops coming towards her. He also saw his parents being carried by two soldiers.

"Wei, why don't you wait inside the house?" yihan said, The mother of the girl called Wei. Yihan walked up to Wei and immediately clasped his hands together.

"You go in first, I have business with these soldiers." Jiang ordered, Father Wei glanced at the soldiers behind him.

Wei frowned confusedly, clueless about the affairs between his father and the Taoming Kingdom army. Could it be that both parents will be be beheaded for having made mistakes while working? Imagining that, Wei immediately kowtowed on the ground. It made Jiang and Yihan even more surprised.

"Please forgive both parents. They may make mistakes because they are not perfect either. Please don't punish them!"

"Why are you like this, Wei? Father and mother did nothing wrong, calm down!"

One of the soldiers came forward, in front of Wei. "It looks like you misunderstood the intent of our arrival. We're here to pick you up at Taoming Castle" he said, prompting Wei to straighten up.

He was confused to hear what the soldier said. Taoming Palace, not just anyone can go there. Only noble families and important people could enter. He was only the son of a poor slave who could only dream of entering the palace. Even though the word of the palace person was very pleasant, he could only hear and imagine. Then now suddenly the soldier came to pick him up to the palace? What dream could he be treated like?

"Why do you want to pick me up at the palace? I'm not an important person," Wei argued with a frown.

"We are just following orders from the Emperor."

Again, Wei was made to not understand. From where did the Emperor know himself to the point of giving orders to bring himself to the palace? All very confusing for a girl who just turned 20 years old yesterday.

Jiang and Yihan helped Wei to stand up. "Allow us to talk to him for a while" Jiang said with a facial expression as he ordered Yihan to immediately bring Wei into their home. Understanding the look on her husband's face, Yihan immediately brought Wei into the house.

"All right, but not for too long. It will soon be dark, we must immediately take him to the palace." said the soldier as he occasionally stared at the sky.

Jiang no longer replied, he went straight into his house and locked the door tightly. In his face Wei was sitting on a chair with a frown on her forehead. He knew what his youngest daughter was. Jiang sat in front of Wei and Yihan with a heavy heart.

"We must distract the soldiers so that Wei can escape. We can't let Wei step on the palace." Jiang said in half a whisper, afraid that his voice would be heard by the soldier who was still standing outside his house.

"Wei, don't ask too many questions, just follow Dad's orders. When I get out, you and Wei have to escape through the back door. Never look back no matter what, you two should keep running. Do you understand?"

Yihan looked at Jiang sadly. Hearing Jiang's words, he became unable to leave her alone. How could she possibly leave her husband who had been with her for 23 years?

Yihan rubbed Wei's two cheeks, then hugged her tightly as if it was a farewell greeting. "Mother will help your father, you go now."

"No! I don't know about your problems telling me to run away, you should at least explain it to me!" firmly Wei with a soft voice.

Jiang shook both of Wei's shoulders, his face as crimson as it held back anger. "The palace is not the place for you. Compared to a palace, a forest with thousands of beasts is better for you!"

"But why should I go there? Why did the emperor order his army to take me to the palace? If it wasn't for your fault, then why would I go to the palace?"

"You don't need to know, it's all very complicated, Wei. Go right now!" drive Jiang away while pushing Wei to the back door. After that he immediately walked out.

Jiang's plan did not work because his house was currently surrounded by soldiers. There was no gap for Wei to be able to escape and no manpower for him to be able to resist. The soldier approached Jiang. "We'll make it easy so there's no bloodshed here. Do you want to make your daughter see me chop off your head?"

From inside the hut, Wei watched Jiang's back with worry. News of the Taoming Kingdom's atrocities had already spread across the country. It was not difficult for them to swing a sword at the necks of lowly folk like them. No, he won't let that happen. Wei quickly ran out even Yihan did not have time to hold his hand.

Wei stood in front of Jiang bravely while staring at the soldiers sharply. I don't know where the courage of the girl who had prostrated begging for forgiveness, which they certainly understand that she is currently protecting her parents.

"I won't let you hurt my parents! Get the fuck out of here!" exclaimed Wei loudly.

"We can't leave without taking you. We just shorten it, want to come in a good way or coercion? I could've beheaded your father if you'd insisted on driving us away." the threat the soldier made Wei's guts shrivel. He did not dare to say anything more, only being able to bite his lips from feeling anxious. A soldier's words about killing are never fooling around. A person's life is like a toy to them.

The soldier in steel clothes immediately knelt down followed by the other soldier when the sound of the footprints of the horse from behind the hut. There was a man riding a horse wearing a red robe. His pure white face was resolute, his eyes shining sharply towards all the kneeling soldiers.

Following the soldier's gaze, Jiang and Yihan prostrated themselves on the ground facing the person who had just descended from the horse.

Wei who realized that the person was important also bowed down like her parents. Then came the screams of the soldiers.

"We salute the emperor!"
