Poor Girl Becomes Empress

Poor Girl Becomes Empress
Chapter 17: Wanting to Commit Suicide

Sunlight infiltrates through the cracks of the room window. The wind that blows feels a little warm because it has been fused with sunlight.

In the corner of the room was seen Wei who was curled up. He drowned his head between his thighs with his hair down. His bed was really neat like it was not touched by the girl.

Ever since returning from the middle hall last night, Wei's mind had been very chaotic. In her little heart she did not want this marriage to happen. The thought of Fengying easily killing a lowly person made Wei think highly of the fate of both his parents and the others working under him.

At the moment he wanted to run away but his legs were as if they had been in chains so he could not go anywhere.

From the outside, there was fanfare because the servants were busy decorating the empress' residence to welcome the emperor's arrival later that night. Wei was sure that the busy one was not only in the empress' residence, but in the main hall of the wedding venue and the inauguration was also definitely busier.

Soon the event will be held, but Wei is reluctant to come out. There were steps leading to the room. Wei could guess it was Ruyin and Tzuran who would dress her up.

"Is the future empress awake?" ruyin exclaimed, but not answered by Wei.

Ruyin and Tzuran looked at each other. It was not usual for Wei to be quiet like this. Usually the girl woke up earlier than them and had already finished the bath. Is it possible that Wei hasn't finished bathing? their inner.

"We're going into the room of the empress!"

The door of the room opened, both Ruyin and Tzuran were surprised to find Wei curled up in the corner of the room. They immediately ran over to Wei and checked her condition.

With a heavy head, Wei tried to stare at Ruyin and Tzuran. "How's this? What do I do now?"

Ruyin and Tzuran looked at each other again. They didn't understand why Wei was like that. For a moment they thought that Wei was like that because of her old lady and servant who had died.

"I'm afraid.I want to get out of this palace..." Wei clasped Ruyin and Tzuran's hands. His cold hand made Ruyin and Tzuran startled again.

"Did the future empress not sleep last night? The empress' hands were even very cold." said Ruyin who made Wei shake her head.

"How could I possibly sleep, lady? Today was the beginning of my life's destruction. I thought if I would be happy in this great palace, I was wrong. I have chosen the path to destroy my own life!"

Tzuran patted Wei on the shoulder. "Calm down, empress-to-be. The empress-to-be's life won't just be ruined."

Wei rubbed his face rough. He stood up and was silent for a moment. His gaze was blank forward as if he had no life expectancy at all.

"What would the future empress think? The wedding ceremony will start soon but... Consort-to-be!" ruyin's speech was cut off as Wei suddenly ran out of the room. He shouted as he ran after Wei who was running towards the pavilion.

"Stop the empress!" tzuran shouted as the other maids just stared in confusion.

Whether what was on Wei's mind at the moment, no one understood. The girl couldn't get Fengying's words out of her mind last night. Fengying's words were like a sword that always pierced his heart without a pause of time. Wei never expected to come to the palace just to ruin his life, not wanting at all.

Now Wei was standing on the edge of the bridge gazing towards the vast artificial lake. "I can't be a queen!" this time he stared at the sky.

Ruyin, Tzuran, and the other servants immediately pulled Wei's hand away from jumping into the lake.

Wei rebelled to escape from her maids and servants. "I don't want to stay in the palace and become empress! If I did that, I would be tantamount to ruining my own life! I'd rather die than be here!" wei's shout was no less loud making everything there more panicked.

"The empress-to-be can't be like this! Please, don't think like that!" the Exclaim that made Wei increasingly rebellious to escape.

Really, Wei seemed to be losing her mind. He who says to the maids and servants to cherish their lives is now the one who wants to end their lives.

"Give respect to the queen mother!" shouted Nui's lady-in-waiting with Nui walking towards Wei.

All the servants stopped, as did Wei who was now staring at Nui.

"We salute the queen!"

Nui paid no heed to the servants who paid their respects to her. His eyes looked at Wei gently and warmly, then he clasped Wei's hands together. "What's your problem, queen? Why do you even think about doing something stupid like this?" said a gentle Nui that made Wei directly bow her head.

"Please forgive me, mother of the queen." - Wei shrieked with teary eyes.

Breath sounds from Nui's nose. The old woman brought Wei back into her room followed by all the maids and servants. Hypnotized, Wei follows Nui while trying to equalize their steps.

The wind seemed to pierce Wei's skin which was only coated with a thin arm canal. It was obvious that the girl was still wearing nightgowns and had not prepared at all for the wedding to be held in a moment.

They reached the room, Nui directly sat Wei on his bed. "You know what stupidity you're doing today? Why would an empress have such foolish thoughts?" his tan that pierced Wei despite sounding meek.

"Do you want to defy destiny?" he continued, which made Wei lower his head even more.

"I don't want to be queen!" wei firmly straightened her head and stared into Nui's eyes.

Nui was not surprised after hearing Wei's assertiveness as if the girl would not change her mind. The old woman sat down beside Wei while clasping Wei's hand back.

"You are just like the previous empress who was killed by Guinying. The day before the wedding she also attempted suicide knowing my son would never love her. I was this old, never expecting this to happen again to you and the emperor." Nui's story intrigued Wei to hear more.

"When I look at you, it's like I'm looking at the previous empress. Likewise when I saw Fengying, she was exactly like my son. Despite the emperor's cruel and cold demeanor, he actually had a very fragile side."

Wei doubted Nui's words. How can a person who has taken the life of another person have such a fragile side?

"I'm just asking you to be patient like the previous empress. It might be hard at first, but I promise I will always defend you. Your degree must not be stepped on by anyone, including the emperor's concubine." Nui looked at Wei's eyes full of hope for the girl not to change her mind anymore.

"The emperor has sentenced innocent people to death, and the emperor does not feel guilty at all. I can't go with her if it's always like that, Queen Mother!" wii chest went up and down while discussing this matter. He hated Fengying so much that he sentenced her to death on the lady-in-waiting and all her old servants.

"Emperor like that because he wants to protect you. In this palace there were many enemies surrounding it, therefore the emperor was more careful and protected the people nearby. You must be able to overcome this problem while accompanying the emperor. He would not have changed if no one had directed him. You're the one, empress!"

Wei lowered her head. His mind was at war with each other, making his mouth shut. Inwardly continues to justify Nui's words, but his mind is reluctant to justify.
