Five years I forgot about Karina.
Never saw and heard from him again. I can accept the fact that Karina is married. The man Karina chose to be her life companion must be a truly worthy one.
Now I'm just focusing on work and family. Until someone new to me would never have guessed that I was the son of a farmer.
One day, Rama had a high fever. After work, I intend to buy medicine for Rama. My car is parked in front of the pharmacy twenty-four hours.
I opened the door of the pharmacy made of glass. There was only one woman who was talking to the pharmacist.
It would be a surprise to find out that the woman was none other than Karina. He also seemed as surprised as I was.
Karina's appearance was a hundred and eighty degrees different from the one I saw last time. His face was pale, I saw him in the middle of a two-body.
Even so, his body is very thin. Her cheekbones were prominent and plus black eye bags were increasingly visible on Karina's white face. Karina smiled. But not the smile I know of a Karina.
“Balin, how are you?”
“Oh hi, Karina, what are you doing here?”
“Oh, I'm buying pregnant mother's milk.”
My eyes were fixed on Karina's stomach. “How many months is your gestational age?” tanyaku.
“Seven months.” Karina answered briefly.
“Have not met for five years. How much of your pregnancy is this?”
“This is the second pregnancy.”
“So soon you will have two children? I haven't heard from you in a long time. Your first boy or girl?”
“But my first pregnancy, I had a miscarriage.”
Deg. I swallowed my salivary. I'm sorry about my question. “Oh, I'm sorry.”
“Iya, it's okay.” Karina smiled as if she had to.
Stupidly I, surely Karina was offended by my question earlier.
“Yourself, what are you doing to the pharmacy?”
“I'm buying medicine for my sister. He's got a fever. You alone?” I asked while looking to the left. Looking for the figure of the person who accompanied Karina.
“Iya I'm alone.”
Then the pharmacist who was talking to Karina came with a special box of milk for pregnant women and mentioned the price. Karina opened her bag, looking for something. Long time Karina didn't find the thing she was looking for, she was getting riled up.
I glanced and read the information on the milk packaging of pregnant women ordered by Karina. One small box can be for ten glasses, with the recommendation to drink two glasses a day.
“I want five boxes of milk like this again.” I said to the pharmacy lady.
“Oh well, Sir. Please wait a minute.” The woman disappeared into the back of a high shelf of storage items.
I saw Karina frowning in confusion. “Your wallet is missing, right? I've paid already. I purposely ordered a lot for stock at home so that you do not need to go back and forth to the pharmacy.”
“Thank you very much, Balin. I'm so troubling you.”
“Sama is not a hassle. You also often treat me when I was in college. You remember?”
“Yes. Yep. I remember.”
The pharmacy lady came back with the item I requested. Pack it into a shopping bag. “There's more? Perhaps vitamins for pregnant women all?”
“Oh No. Not necessary. That's enough.”
“Yakin, Karina?”
“Iya, Balin. That's enough. Vitamins I still have a lot at home.”
After paying, I offered to take Karina home. At first he refused. But it rained at the right time. Karina accepted my offer.
Along the way I told him a lot about our college days.
But something's weird.
Karina did not focus on my conversation and only responded as necessary. He's always daydreaming. I asked her what was going on but Karina reasoned she was just exhausted.
I feel like there's something weird about Karina.
Suddenly Karina asked me to stop. I looked around, my car was in a quiet t-junction.
“Till here. I'm getting off here. Thank you, Balin for the ride.” Karina said she removed her seat belt.
“You sure you don't want me to deliver it to your front?”
Karina nodded.
“Wait, Karina. It's still raining.”
“It's okay. It's close to my house.”
“You sit down for a while. I have an umbrella you can wear.”
I always put an umbrella in the trunk of my car. Just in case it rains. I got out and walked to the back of the car, took my umbrella.
Then I opened the door for Karina. I put the umbrella in my hand so Karina wouldn't get wet when she got out of the car.
Karina smiled. Even I saw Karina's eyes glazed over. I handed my umbrella to Karina.
“Oh yes, may I request your phone number. So that I can return your umbrella.”
Actually want that umbrella to disappear is not a problem for me. But I kept mentioning my phone number.
Karina kept it. Together we were under the umbrella. I haven't been this close to Karina in a long time. I'm afraid my feelings that I used to feel are going to reappear.
So I got in the car immediately. Wiping wet hair due to rain drops. I looked at Karina before I turned around. He was still standing next to my car, waving his hand.
A few months after I met Karina at the pharmacy, it happened.
The memory of Karina dying right in front of me entered my mind. To this day I still can't believe Karina is gone and leave the baby to me.
Three days I missed work for taking care of Karina's funeral. I buried Karina properly but also very carefully so that not many people would know.
The same day I saw the news that Karina's father had been missing since the night Karina was alone in the Pigeon Park.
Does the disappearance of Mr. Indra have anything to do with Karina crying in the Garden of Pigeons? Karina also didn't want me to call her father when the baby was born. Does he really know what happened to his father?
If only Karina had a few minutes to tell me everything.
I'm pinching my forehead. Thinking about all the things that happened to the Irawan family made me dizzy.
Where is Karina's husband? Why did Karina call him evil? Karina was very happy when she said that she would marry him.
And one more. Karina forbade me to meet her son with her husband. What exactly happened?
