I looked up when Galang called me.
It was late at night, we just got home from the beach and stopped by the restaurant to order dinner.
Because Rama was determined to see the sunset, we came home too late.
A cross approached me with both hands carrying a white box.
“So someone sent this to Mr. Balin.”
“From whom?”
“The courier said from Mr. Frans,” said Galang.
“Oh, so. Thank you yes, Galang.”
Galang nodded, “Sama-sama, Sir. I want to go back to the restaurant.”
I was curious about the box Frans had sent me, so I opened it up a little bit to take a peek at what it contained.
It was a birthday cake. The words of congratulations to Kirana were written beautifully on the chocolate cake and there were cherries adorning the edges of the cake.
I got in the car. All the passengers except me were still asleep. I looked at them one by one.
Kirana in her baby seat, Rama sleeps curled up next to Kirana. Then my eyes turned to Alexa who was asleep in the front seat. Alexa's head lowered and her body slightly slumped from the chair.
“Definitely sore sleep with a position like this,” mumbled me while fixing Alexa's head and adjust the car seat backrest to make it feel comfortable.
Then I turned on the engine, and my car drove away from the restaurant parking lot.
“Hey, wake. We have reached home,”, I told Rama and Alexa.
While I let Kirana stay asleep, carrying her carefully, into the house.
After putting Kirana into the crib. I went back to the yard to pick up the food in the car.
But my steps stopped because Rama had taken the initiative to bring a bag containing our dinner.
If it was about eating, he would remember.
“Kak, this box what does it contain?” rama asked as he lifted the gift box from Frans.
“That's Kirana's birthday cake. Watch out not to eat!” I'm snapping at Rama.
Considering Rama always spent food without leaving for anyone else, I raised a sharp look at him.
“Iya, yes, take it easy. I won't spend.”
Then my gaze turned to Alexa who was still standing next to the car. His hand held his bag and I walked over.
My eyes caught a little bit of sand dirtying Alexa's jawline, and without asking for her approval first, I rubbed the sand to get away from Alexa's cheek immediately.
The glossy black-eyed girl gasped for my actions, so I immediately stopped the swab of my hand. Fear makes him uncomfortable.
“You eat with us?” I'm bargaining with Alexa.
She shook her head wagging her hair, “I want to take a break.”
“Then grab some food at my house. You haven't eaten yet, have you?”
“Why do you care about me?” ask Alexa.
I threw away my face so Alexa wouldn't see my face as red as a tomato.
“Do not think excessively! I just don't want my neighbor to be sick. Later I also bothered.”
Alexa smile. I wanted to smile too, but I could bear it.
“I have a gift for Kirana, but unfortunately missed in the room. I'll take it first.”
Alexa ran into his house. Before long, he again brought a square-shaped gift wrapped in pink paper and decorated with beautiful ribbons.
I received the gift and asked, “What is it?”
“Dong secret.”
“Not bomb it is, right?” ask me while flipping through the gift.
“Not.”
“I open now,” My hand is about to tear the wrapping paper.
“Do not!” squeal Alexa. “Later, let Kirana herself open it.”
“Oh, okay. May Kirana be happy with your gift.”
“Then I go home first. I want a break.”
“Yes, rest!”
I just nodded.
My gaze went hand in hand following the footsteps of Alexa who was walking towards her house. The girl paused for a bit in front of the door, slowly turning her head to look at me, smiling and I replied.
Then, Alexa disappeared into the back door.
So did I who also entered the house and was astonished to find Rama who was sitting devouring Kirana's birthday cake.
I glared and grabbed the cake box. While Rama with a sinless face glanced at me.
“Why eaten?” i protested.
“Ya out, the cake is tempting,” said Rama licked the tip of his fingers dirty by whipped cream.
“But it's Kirana's birthday cake. Kirana should have eaten the cake,” I clenched her hands so furious.
“Just relax, Brother Balin, I'll leave it to Kirana. Tuh,” Rama pointed to the piece of cake that lived a quarter.
“Kirana also won't spend it all right?” Rama added.
“The problem is, Kirana has not seen her birthday cake in full, but you've ruffled the cake.”
I want to feel like I punch that lip that is going back and forth as fun as chewing since.
“Leave it. Kirana is still a baby does not know anything.”
I catch my breath. Looking with anger at Rama who was now standing from his seat.
I swung my fist and was ready to land it in my sister's stomach. But not yet my punch landed, Rama had already bowed in pain.
“Don't joke you!” my grit. “I haven't punched you.”
Rama continued to bow and complain of pain. Both of his hands pressed against the distended stomach that had just been filled with chocolate cake.
“Balin's brother, my stomach hurts,” Rama's moans.
He sat back with an irregular breath. Sweat the size of a corn seed pours from his forehead. Closing his mouth with his palm, as it seemed like he wanted to vomit.
“I know you're just acting,” I refute even if half of me says that Rama is not messing around.
Rama bowed deeply, falling down on the floor. Her entire body was convulsing, just like when Kirana had a fever.
Even Rama's shock was worse and more terrifying.
“K-Kak Balin,” call Rama.
I started to panic.
What am I supposed to do?
I bent down to help Rama get up and at that moment he pulled out all his entrails.
“Sister B-Balin,” call Rama once again with great difficulty.
“Let's go to the hospital!” I tried to get Rama.
“Kak, don't give the cake to Kirana!”
“I know!”
But wait a minute. Who will take care of Kirana as long as I take Rama to the hospital?
Alexa.
I left Rama, ran outside, jumped the fence that borders my house with Alexa's house.
And I blow Alexa's door as hard as I can. Alexa didn't open the door, so I yelled at her.
“Alexa... Alexa... “
Before long, the door opened and I was stunned in place. For a second I forgot my original purpose of banging on the door of a neighbor's house.
All because Alexa was standing in front of me with wet hair. Water droplets from her hair flowed down the brown bath robe she was wearing.
The smell of bath soap was faintly smelled by my nose.
“What's up, Balin?”
I shook my head to be free from the magic Alexa was emitting on me.
“A-I'll leave Kirana for a moment. Rama's food poisoning, so I'll take him to the hospital,” obviously me quickly.
“And one more, do not eat the cake that is on the table. The cake is poisonous.”
