Candra's trial is about to begin. Herlina, Nina and Mr. Kim were already in the trial hall. This included a closed-door trial at Herlina's request regarding the good name of her company as well as her. Herlina would not deny if her son made a mistake. He just wants Candra's problem not published like celebrity news.
"With the Grace of Almighty God, the hearing of the case of Sister Kinanti Hermansyah on October 26 was officially opened" said the Judge and hammer were knocked three times.
Herlina felt palpitating as this concerned her own son. Mahendra as the lead prosecutor in the Kinanti case began his trial by reading the opening. Then proceed to a question and answer session between the prosecutor and the accused.
Candra, who was sitting on the defendant's bench in the middle of the courtroom, was uneasy because it involved her life later behind a prison cell.
"Okay, Brother Candra. I'll start my question. On September 24th you go to the house of Mother Kinanti and have a serious conversation. So you did something to Mother Kinanti. As seen in this video."
Mahendra begins to play a video in which Candra violates Kinanti. When they saw the video, many were surprised by what Candra was doing. Since this was a closed trial, Herlina did not have to worry about the media there. The judge, the participant and the others also felt very sorry for what Kinanti experienced. Somehow Candra can be so cruel treating Kinanti to such an extent.
"Do you admit that the one in the video is yourself?" ask Mahendra.
Candra was agitated and let out cold sweat.
He looked around and found the shadow of Herlina sitting on the seat of the trial participant.
Not getting an answer from Candra, Mahendra repeated what he asked.
"Brother Candra, I'll ask you once again, do you admit that the one in the video is you?" Mahendra asked him firmly.
Candra squeezes her fingers trying to relieve her anxiety, but to no avail. His heart was pounding violently to answer that question at the trial.
"Yes..I.admit.." replied Candra quietly, stammered and trembling.
Herlina felt emotions inside her chest. He really had no idea his son was doing anything as rotten as he saw in the video.
Mahendra asked Candra.
"Why did you do that?"
Candra this time can not avoid anything more than to say honesty in his trial. This courtroom feels cold and scary to Candra.
"I get upset every time Kinanti meets Nina. I know that Kinanti doesn't like Nina, my second wife. I always thought that Kinanti did a bad thing to Nina even though Kinanti replied to do nothing, I don't believe it." replied Candra.
Nina felt trembling with emotion towards Candra's defense. That's not all right. I never really hated it.
"Why do you think that Ms. Kinanti did such a bad thing to Ms. Nina?" ask Mahendra who then took the small remote from inside his pocket.
"Because every time he talks to me on the phone, he always blames Nina and I don't like that" Candra replied.
Mahendra turned his body to the judge and asked permission to play the next video.
"Sir Judge, allow me to play the next video. Proof that Ibu Kinanti didn't do anything bad to Ms. Nina."
After the judge invited him, Mahendra played a video where Kinanti was feeling pain in his head and he called Nina. After taking the medicine Nina gave, Kinanti felt calm and rested for a while. Then Nina called the psychiatrist where Kinanti was on medication. He was saddened by the increasingly severe situation of Kinanti.
Now Candra was silent, as well as the rest of the audience suddenly noticed Nina. Herlina was surprised by the true state of Kinanti.
"Mistress, Ms. Kinanti was diagnosed with multiple personality disorder with her trauma. During her marriage to Brother Candra, Ms. Kinanti often received physical torture ranging from head to toe as seen in the video.
There was nothing that Ibu Kinanti could rely on other than Ms. Nina. Ibu Kinanti lives in a house with little sunlight. So many of me." explained Mahendra.
The judge sorts out statements that feel appropriate for consideration.
"What about witnesses?" ask Judge.
"I'll call a witness. That is Nina's mother" said Mahendra who was immediately welcomed by the Judge.
Nina immediately headed to the seat that was in the middle to be asked as a witness. After sitting down, Nina was immediately asked by Mahendra.
"Mother Nina. Do you know the condition of Mother Kinanti?"
"Yes." Yeah."
"How long has it been?"
"By the time I came to Kinanti's house the first time, I felt that Kinanti was happy to welcome me. That was about two years ago in July. Then we exchanged phone numbers and I came to Kinanti's house several times. I was talking as usual. And Kinanti welcomed me with great joy. But one day I saw Kinanti trying to hurt herself.."
"Kinan! Nay! You could get hurt!" Kinanti continued to slash his arm with a fruit knife.
As if not hearing, Kinanti continued to slash his hand. Nina finally hits Kinanti's hand holding a knife. Kinanti was screaming hysterically and I was so scared.'
"You know what Nina is! I'd rather be poor than be pitted against by a woman like you!"
"No, Kinanti! Don't do that I beg you."
"Kinanti keeps trying to hurt her but I always get angry. Until one day he asked me to buy medicine." explained Nina Long.
"What about Renata?"
"Renata, asked to work after college so as not to know the condition of his mother."
The audience present whispered. Didn't expect that the case this time had a fairly complicated background.
"And I've never argued anything with Kinanti about Candra or anything. All pure I came there because of his illness. No one can help her but me." added Nina.
The judge asked Mahendra to read his claim because the testimony from the witness was sufficient.
"Based on KUHP chapter 355 verses one and two
(1) Severe persecution carried out with a plan in advance, threatened with imprisonment of twelve years at most.
(2) If the act results in death, the guilty shall be threatened with imprisonment for at most fifteen years
I hereby declare that Brother Candra is to be punished with all her justice in view of the repeated persecutions over the years and no regrets. I demand a life sentence."
Mahendra has read his demands. And the trial was adjourned for thirty minutes. Candra was brought back by officers during the postponed hearing.
Mahendra had a look towards the seat of the trial participants. Herlina and Nina held hands together. It was sad to see Herlina trying so hard to make her son a successful person, but reality says otherwise.
