Me And The Rich Man's

Me And The Rich Man's
Chapter 30's

Time seemed slow to change, the drizzle was still reluctant to stop and the night created a dark gripping. There was only the light from the car lights that gave a hint of light in the darkness.

Evan grabbed Hanna's fingers, grasping them tightly to paint a sense of warmth that was difficult for the woman to describe. Their positions face each other. Hanna was sitting on a stainless long chair, while Evan was crouching before her.

“Can I say?” Evan's words break the ice. His hands were tighter and tighter, shackling Hanna's fingers which were starting to feel cold.

“Although not interested, but I will try to hear it well.” That faint-pitched speech made Evan smile faintly. Staring in Hanna's eyes that still looked wet by the rest of the tears.

“You haven't changed, you're still as stubborn and fierce as you used to be and damn that's what I couldn't forget until now.”

For a moment Hanna's gaze was distracted by the rain drops falling from the sky. His breathing sounded heavy. He closed his eyes as he felt the softness of Evan's thumb stroke the back of his hand. Very warm, until he unconsciously returned the grip until their fingers were tied to each other.

“I once thought of making a big mistake by loving someone you shouldn't. I knew it was painful, like grasping a thorn that was getting longer and making your hand hurt and bleed. I don't know what makes it so precious, until I've never been willing to let it go, even though I've pinned hatred in my heart for it.”

“One night I felt burning seeing him being among other men staring at him like a starving man. I think I want to pry their eyes out. But strangely I still refused to admit it as a form of jealousy. That feeling forced me to do one stupid thing. I got drunk and unknowingly vaped it on a foreign girl.”

“A guilt made me decide to forget it by going far. You know. .. It feels so tormented when away from her and every day I go through is never without her shadow. I remember seven years ago, the last time I saw him at the bus station. He left in a hurry like he was chasing something. Keong fucking—(the name for Rafli)—that says I'm crazy. He's right I'm crazy, mouth and heart never go hand in hand. Mouth says hate but heart adores. That was my biggest mistake, hurting him! When I realized, I had lost .. and I just understood that losing was as painful as it was.  When circumstances demand to forget, but all hearts love.”

Evan kissed the back of Hanna's hand. Until the clear liquid drips out uncontrollably.

Hanna froze, as if time had stopped at that very instant.

“Hanna Cabrera was never yours, then how can I return it to you?” hanna turned her eyes away. Staring at the car from a distance not so far away from them. “You are only entitled to two children born from the womb of Hanna Cabrera.”

“Alright, at least I still have them. But I'll make amends. Replacing the seven years I have spent with the rest of my time. Will you give me a sentence for the seven years you spent in full combat?”

Hanna could no longer suppress her feelings. The pain, disappointment, and anger that had been buried for seven years could only be overflowing with tears. The stifled sobs slowly left a hiccuping sound. Evan hugs her, letting Hanna let go of all the pent-up feelings.

Until things calmed down, he rubbed the woman's tears with his fingers, then buried a soft kiss on the swollen eyelid. Right and left alternating. Evan wrapped his hands around the nape of Hanna's neck, frowning and nose until a warm breath swapped each other.

“I'm sorry. It's all my fault,” whispered Evan.

Hanna put her face away to one inch away. Staring at Evan's face.

“Then be prepared, for I will punish you in my own way.”

“And I will accept it with pleasure,” Evan replied with a smile.
