Time seems to stop when the two heartbeats merge. Evan still did not understand what kind of feeling was shackling his heart. His mouth was silent as if full of questions but unable to say, releasing a hug was not willing. There is a fear of great loss.
The leafan ...
The warmth ...
What is this feeling? Only that question remained in his mind.
“Tuan ... Sorry, I didn't see the boy come in here,” one male employee said as she watched her master crouch down hugging a slum-dressed little girl who was crying. He may be afraid that the boss will be disturbed by the presence of the child. “Do you want me to bring the child out of here?”
“No,” answered Evan quickly, then looked at the man. “Please prepare a children's chair in my room.”
The man with the white shirt and black bow tie looked puzzled, yet he nodded in understanding. Then he headed to a room to pick up a special chair for the children and took him into the boss' room.
Star's cry had already begun to come to a halt and left behind the remains of a hiccup. He glanced at the handsome uncle's face, then immediately looked down as Evan also looked at him.
Evan glanced at Star's abrasive knees and elbows from falling and rubbing against the marble floor. Seeing the boy looking terrified, he also published a friendly smile.
“It's okay, Son. Does this hurt?” tanyanya pointed at the chafed knee.
Star nodded with a nod of his head. While Evan's hand outstretched tidying up the hair that covered around the little girl's face. On the other hand, Leola and her friends who were in line were whispering to each other. Then approached.
“Uncle, don't let him in here. He came here to steal food,” said Leola complained to Star, so that made Star bow for fear of being scolded by the owner of the cafe.
“Really, Uncle! Her brother often steals at Leola's mother's shop. He's here for sure to steal,” says friend Leola.
Evan looked at the pity of Star who was now looking down. From the look on the little girl's face, she could read the fear on her face. Evan then rubbed the top of Star's head, without heeding the words of Leola and his friends.
“Today there will be no thieves here. Because everyone has the right to come here and get whatever menu he wants. So come back in line,” Evan told the four girls.
“Ba-good, Uncle!”
Evan gets up and holds Star, then calls some of his employees.
“Bring that wooden stick into my room!” his orders pointed to Star's two wooden sticks. “And bring bread, kebabs and drinks also for this child.”
“Good, Mr.”
“What's your name, Son?” evan asked, staring fixedly at Star's face.
Why do I feel like this kid's face looks so much like Elsa when I was a kid? ask Evan inwardly.
He suddenly remembered his twin brother, Elsa, who now lives in Indonesia with his other brother.
“My name is Star.”
“Star? Very nice name. You're here by yourself?”
Star replied with a nod of his head.
“Where is your album?”
“Mommy at home.”
“Oh ... So you didn't tell mommy you wanted to come here?” evan asked, guessing that maybe Star was only about five or six years old. There was no way he was allowed to come alone by his mommy.
“Mommy said you can't come here, but I came secretly because I want to eat kebabs,” he replied innocently while staring at the food menu on the table. He had not dared to touch the food before getting permission from the uncle sitting in front of him.
“Why can't I? Don't you know the announcement that everyone can come and enjoy all the menus in this cafe?”
With a sad face Star also told innocently. “Mommy says you can't ask from others. My sister and I really like to eat kebabs and bread, but mommy can only buy it when it's out of pay.”
Evan's heart felt sliced at the sound of every word Star said. Evan looked at her softly, especially when he realized the girl's sparkling face when he saw the amount of food on the table. From the facial expressions, neck movements while swallowing the saliva, Evan could guess that Star was already impatient to eat.
Evan grabs a wet tissue, then cleans Star's face and hands.
“Alright, now eat. Everything on this table is for you, son.”
