Lately, Grandpa often daydreams behind the house, precisely on the right side of the warehouse. I also like to sit there because the air is cool, but not as often as Grandpa.
At first I didn't care. Maybe he just wanted to breathe fresh air, like me. But my suspicions arose when I saw his changed attitude.
Now he is always moody, not much greeting. Even when I peeked in from behind the door, Grandpa was crying, his eyes glaring far away.
Like that afternoon, I accidentally heard Grandpa humming. I peeked in from behind the door, after humming and crying. I'm getting curious.
I was looking for the sense to approach him. I brewed his favorite cup of coffee. With caution and heart palpitations I approached him.
"Good afternoon, Cake!" I'll hand you a cup of coffee. Moments later Grandpa looked at me. Then smile. I sat next to him. From near Grandpa's face looked increasingly old.
After a moment of silence, I began to dare to ask. "Grandfather is okay? Or is Grandpa sick?"
"Don't worry, my granddaughter, Grandpa is fine" he replied.
"What's right, Cake? Diah noticed, lately Grandpa moody continues and often daydreaming. There must be something, "I said. Grandfather stared blankly ahead
"Grandfather remembered your grandmother" he said half muttered. After drinking coffee Grandpa started telling stories about Grandma when she was young.
He said, once Grandma was a great jaipong dancer, her name was known everywhere. He was always invited to every wedding and party.
Because in his dance always wears a red scarf, by fans given the nickname "Si Red Scarf" Grandma was very happy.
"His feeble movement was still clearly reflected in Grandpa's eyes." Grandpa recalled with teary eyes.
I bowed sadly. The afternoon wind was blowing softly, the shade began to light up. However, all of that seems not to be enjoyed by Grandpa
"Then, Grandpa often daydreams just because he remembered Grandma's house or something else?" my many.
Grandpa did not answer. After looking over here and there then say. "Actually yes, there's something else Grandpa is thinking about."
"What is that, Cake?" I'm jerking.
"But it's a secret" he whispered.
"Confidential?"
"Look," Grandpa looked again to the right and to the left.
Then half whispered, "In the warehouse Grandpa keeps a small crate."
"What's it say?" I cut him curious.
"Then?"
"It's been gone this week! Grandpa forgot to put it in the box again. The shawl was placed on a chair inside the warehouse" Grandpa explained.
"Ooh, so Grandpa is saddened by losing the red scarf." I'm starting to understand.
"For Grandpa it means a lot, because it's your Grandma's only legacy. But now it's gone nowhere." Grandpa began to shed tears.
Soon I ran into the house. Then come back again." This shawl isn't it, Cake?" I showed you the red scarf.
"Ha..., this is your Grandma's shawl!"
Grandpa happily grabbed it. The scarf was held in place with teary eyes. But it seems like happy tears.
"Where did you find it?" Ask Grandpa
"From the warehouse, a week ago," I replied.
"You likey?" ask Grandpa.
"Likes, Cakes. This shawl is so good! Especially for dancing, I'm going to dance lessons. Even next week to the race."
"Oh, huh? Then this is for you, "Grandpa handed me the shawl.
"Ah, is that right, Cake?" I can't believe it.
"Yes!" the answer.
"Grandfather will be sad again" I said.
"No! Even Grandpa would be happy. Take good care of it as a memento. Your grandmother would be happy to know that the scarf was worn by her granddaughter."
"If Grandpa remembers Grandma how?" my continue.
"You should dance in front of Grandpa wearing that shawl"
"Ah, Grandpa could have," I smiled. Grandfather chuckled, his face looked not moody anymore. I am glad to receive it.
"Later if you join the race, Grandpa will definitely watch and Grandpa is sure you will win, especially with the scarf of your Grandmother's legacy." Grandpa's eyes sparkled with hope. I am too.
The day began to dimly dusk. Grandpa and I went into the house with happy hearts.
