Lutung Kasarung Folklore

In ancient times in tatar pasundan there was a kingdom led by a wise king, he was known as Prabu Tapak Agung.

Prabu Tapa Agung has two beautiful daughters, Purbararang and her sister Purbasari.

At the time approaching the end of his life Prabu Tapak Agung appointed Purbasari, his youngest daughter as a substitute. “I am too old, it is time for me to abdicate,” said Prabu Tapa.

Purbasari has an older brother named Purbararang. He disagreed that his brother would be appointed in their father's place. “I'm the eldest daughter, should have chosen me as her successor,” grumbled Purbararang on her fiance named Indrajaya. Purbararang did not want to lose face, he invited Purbasari to fight for long hair. “Who is the longest hair he is the one who won !”, said Purbararang. At first Purbasari did not want to, but because he continued to be urged to serve his brother. It turns out that Purbasari's hair is longer.

“Alright I lost, but now let's fight handsome our fiancee, This is my fiancee”, said Purbararang as he approached Indrajaya. Purbasari began to fidget and bewilderment. At that time also Lutung Kasarung immediately meditated. Suddenly a miracle happened. Lutung Kasarung turned into a handsome young man with a very handsome face, more than Indrajaya. Everyone was shocked to see the incident while cheering happily. Purbararang finally admitted his defeat and his mistake all along. He apologized to his brother and pleaded not to be punished. The benevolent Purbasari forgave them. After the incident, they all returned to the palace.
