16. Daniel Came to Look

Suddenly Mia stood in the living room crying. Mia said nothing, she just cried and shed tears. Mr. Sapto and Adrian's wife turned to Mia.

“Mom see what the husband of the pretentious Mother Don Juan has done,” Adrian said.

“Suster!” Adrian called Lina. Lina approached Adrian.

“Bring Mia to her room!” Adrian said.

“Good, Sir,” replied Lina.

“Come, Mbak Mia.” Lina took Mia to her room.

“Then what is my fate and the fate of my children? How can we eat if my husband is in jail?” ask Mr. Sapto's wife while crying.

“How come, ask me? Ask your husband! Did he not think about the consequences of his actions? A person's future is almost destroyed by the actions of the husband Mother,” Adrian replied.

Adrian took his laptop and went into his room. When he came out of the room he saw Lina carrying a glass of water.

“Mia still crying?” ask Adrian.

“Have stopped crying,” replied Lina. Lina went into Mia's room. Adrian sees Mia from the front door of the room. Lina gave Mia some drinking water. Mia is still crying.

Adrian then headed to the living room. Mr. Sapto's wife is no longer there, Mr. Malih has managed to persuade him to get out of the house. Adrian closed the living room door.

Early in the morning Mr. Ratno went to Sumendang to pick up Ms. Ecin and Mia's grandmother and a new maid. Mia was not told that her grandmother would come.

Adrian hasn't been in the office. He told Ryan to find a builder to dismantle the back room. He wants the back room to be different than before, so that Mia does not have a bad memory of the back room.

As usual, Mia spent her time reciting the Qur'an. Sometimes Mia watches television for entertainment. As Mia was watching television came the sound of a doorbell.

“Sus, please open the door!” said Mia. Mia quickly moved from the sofa to her room.

Lina moved from the seat to the living room and opened the door.

“Assalamualaikum,” says Daniel.

“Waalaikumsalam,” Lina replied.

“Mia is there?” ask Daniel.

Adrian walks into the living room to Daniel while Lina walks into Mia's room.

“Iya, huh. Then I want to go back to the office. Assalamualaikum,” says Daniel.

“Waalaikumsalam,” Mia replied.

Daniel approached Adrian.

“Gue back to the office, yes. Later that night I came here again,” Daniel said.

“Tersubah you dah. If her grandmother Mia does not want to meet you, it is not my fault,” Adrian said.

“Assalamualaikum,” says Daniel.

“Waalaikumsalam,” Adrian replied.

Daniel leaves Adrian's house.
