108. The beginning of Ramadan

The month of Ramadan has arrived. The day before the fast, Mr. Dandi and Ms. Gita invited their children, daughters-in-law and grandchildren to attend a show of pride in their home. Last year the show was quiet because it was only attended by Daniel, Mia. Adrian and Safina. But this year's show is crowded because their family personnel are increasing. There was Karima and her children as additional personnel.

Karima is eating alone. While family members were having dinner, Karima was busy feeding her two children. When he finished, he could eat. Ibu Gita approached Karima. He sat next to Karima.

“There are already signs yet?” ask Gita's mother.

Karima looked at Mother Gita. He did not understand what Mother Gita meant.

“What signs?” ask Karima.

“Signs that you are pregnant,”, said Ms. Gita. Now Karima understood what Ibu Gita was asking.

“Not yet, Bun,” Karima replied.

It looks like Mother Gita's face is sad to hear Karima's answer. Karima felt bad to see Mother Gita sad. But how she wanted to get pregnant, she and Daniel had not been married long. Just got married for two weeks, so there's no sign she's pregnant or not. Except before they were married Daniel had already planted a stake in his stomach.

Rachel came near Karima.

“Mama, Lahel wants to drink,” said Rachel while shaking her body like holding back from peeing.

“Rachel wants to pee?” ask Karima.

“Iya,” replied Rachel.

“Bun, Rima between Rachel pissing,” says Karima.

“Iya,” replied Ibu Gita.

Karima got out of her seat and took Rachel to the bathroom. Daniel came to the dining room. It was like looking for Karima. He approached Gita.

“Bun. Look Rima, don't you?” ask Daniel.

“Again deliver Rachel to the bathroom,” replied Ms. Gita.

“Daniel, sit here. Mother wants to talk.” Gita's mother patted the chair next to her. Daniel sat next to Gita's mother.

“What's up, Bun?” ask Daniel.

“Your wife is not pregnant?” ask Gita's mother.

“Numbered, Bun. Kan Daniel and Karima just got married two weeks,” replied Daniel.

“Oh. is that so, huh? Mommy forgot, Mommy thinks you've been married for a month,” said Ibu Gita.

“Can only marry two weeks Karima is already pregnant,” Daniel said.

“How to?” ask Mother Gita to be curious.

“If Daniel has planted shares in the stomach of Karima before marriage,” replied Daniel arbitrarily.

Gita's mother hit Daniel's leg.

“Astagfirullahaladzim. Istigfar!” Gita's mother glared at Daniel.

“Lapse of her mother who does not,” said Daniel.

Karima and Rachel came out of the bathroom. Karima took Rachel for a drink and they sat down next to Daniel. Rachel drank the drink until it ran out.

“Rachel, we go to grandpa, yuk!  We read prayers and short letters,” Mother Gita told Rachel.

“Karima, you finish the food first! Just joined the others,” Ibu Gita told Karima.

“Iya, Bun,” Karima replied.

Gita's mother invites Rachel to approach Mr. Dandi who is talking to Hari and Gathan. Adrian and Mia also talk to Hari and Gathan. Karima continued her unfinished meal. Daniel looked at his wife's sad face.

“Why you?” ask Daniel.

Karima looked at Daniel. “Rima is okay,” Karima replied. Karima continued eating.

But Daniel did not believe his wife's words, because his wife's face looked different from his words.

“Definitely gaa-gara Mommy, yes?” ask Daniel.

Karima looked at Daniel.

“Mommy must ask you are pregnant or not,” said Daniel.

“Kok, Mas tau?” ask Karima.

“Tau, dong. Last time Mas was asked the same Mother,” replied Daniel.

“Keep answer what?” ask Karima.

Daniel told me what he was talking to Gita.

“Habis Mommy likes its weird stuff. Already know we have not been married long,” replied Daniel.

Daniel shakes Karima's shoulder.

“You don't have to worry. We went through it all together,” whispered Daniel.

“iya, Mas,” Karima replied. Daniel kissed Karima's head.

Today is the first day of fasting. Karima woke up at half-time three in the morning to prepare her family saur. Last night after Ibu Gita's house, Ibu Gita brought food for Karima and her family. The food was put in the bushel. So Karima does not have to bother cooking food for saur. Enough to heat the food.

After finishing warming up the food Karima returned to her room to wake Daniel up. Karima sat on the bedside and patted Daniel's arm.

“Mas, wake. It's time saur,” Karima said.

However, Daniel instead of waking up hugged Karima's body.

“Mas, wake! Later mishapangan saur,” said Karima.

“What time?” ask Daniel with closed eyes.

“It's been four and a half hours,” Karima replied.

Daniel opened his eyes and got out of bed. He gathered his consciousness just out of bed. He walked to the bathroom to wash his face. Karima came out of her room to Hari and Gathan's room. Karima woke up last day and woke up Gathan.

The day I got out of bed. Dangan gontai steps Day out of the room to the dining table. He also sat down in a dining chair. He put his head on the table with his hands together. Then continue to sleep. Daniel came out of the room to the dining table. He saw Hari sitting on the dining chair while sleeping on the dining table.

Daniel sat down next to Hari. Soon Karima came out of the room holding Gathan. He sat Gathan in the dining chair. Gathan sat with his eyes closed.

“Children fasting?” ask Daniel.

“Iya, Mas. Learn to fast a little so that when they grow up later they are not surprised if told to fast a full day,” answered Karima.

Karima walked towards Rachel's room. Soon Karima arrives holding Rachel. Karima sat Rachel in the dining chair. Karima took a plate and filled with rice, side dishes and vegetables. He feeds his children one by one. Daniel ate his own food.

“Bang. Wake, Bang!” Karima calls Hari who sleeps at the dinner table.

Waking up with eyes closed.

“You ate alone or fed Mama?” ask Karima.

“Suapin,” Reply Day.

Karima feeds Hari. Daniel ate while watching Karima who was busy feeding her three children.

“Children fast until what time?” daniel asked while chewing the food.

“Rachel fasts until nine. Gathan fasts until twelve. Fasting day until azan magrib,” Karima replied.

Daniel turned to Day who sat beside him. The day was chewing his food.

“Abang strong fast until magrib?” ask Daniel.

“Abang from first class fasting to adzan magrib,”ansi Hari.

“Wah, great. Later if the end of his fast want to be given what gift?” ask Daniel.

Day thought for a moment. He was confused as to what gift.

“No idea,” Reply Day.

Daniel smiled at Hari.

“Abang think about it first. Ramadhan month is still long,” said Daniel.

Rachel turned to Karima and shook Karima's hand.

“Ma, Lahel also want gifts,” says Rachel.

“Gathan too, Mah.” Gathan shook Karima's hand.

Daniel saw the two children, who were fussy to his wife.

“Later Gathan and Rachel also get a gift. If the fast is up to the deadline that has been determined by Mama!” said Daniel.

“Assyik.” Gathan and Rachel cheered in excitement.

“Already, one day first. Imsak keburu!” karima.

They continued eating his food.
