Hanifa For Devan

Hanifa For Devan
Bi Mar's Opinion About Devan

His long silver hijab was occasionally blown by the slightly cold morning breeze. Gently stroking on her white face that was slightly tapered but filled. His friendly smile has been faithful to greet every seller who is often in his jump in this place.

This Sunday morning Hanifa accompanied by Salma will shop for some necessities for the tasyakuran event tomorrow. Now the bag he brought to shop was half full of various vegetables and fruits.

Although it is still quite early in the morning, but buyers at this flea market are already quite crowded. Especially on holidays, sellers may sell their merchandise off dawn prayers. The flea market will remain crowded until the eve of Dzuhur, even before the Maghrib.

After everything was tasted enough, Hanifa and Salma chose a mesh-walk around the vegetables. Look for roughly what ingredients are incomplete for soup making. While being engrossed in looking around, the voice of a person stopped his activities.

When he turned his head, his eyes looked at the middle-aged woman with the basket in her hand that was still empty. Apparently he just arrived.

“Bi Mar? What do you want to buy, Bi?" hapa Hanifa followed the smile on her face.

The one who was called smiled back. "Auntie wants to buy fruits, Non" he replied.

“Whose aunt is here?"

"Just like Aden."

Hearing that name, Hanifa's eyes narrowed. “Devan is here Bi?"

“Simple non, Ifa. But the Adennya wait in front. He's lazy to come in he said."

“Oh, it turns out he can go to the market as well apparently." Hanifa muttered.

Salma who heard her brother muttering glanced at her. “Kak Ifa said what?"

Hanifa immediately shook her head. "Ah, that, no really, Dek," he denied.

“Non Ifa buy what so early?" The woman turned around asking.

Hanifa smiled as she pointed out some of the items she bought. “Ifa can help find the material, Bi?" bargained for.

“Aalhamdulillah's. With pleasure non. Thanks, yes.”

"Together, Bi."

The three of them went around every corner of the market. Search for the materials in question. Seeing the many fruits, vegetables and a few spices Bi Mar bought, made Hanifa a little curious.

“There are events at home huh, Bi?" tanya Hanifa held a few pieces of turmeric, and put them in the woman's basket.

“Aunti want to make Aden a herbal drink, Non," said Bi Mar keep busy choosing some pieces of ginger.

Hanifa stopped her hand that was about to take the guava fruit. “Devan likes to drink that herbal-herbal, huh Bi?"

Bi Mar shook his head. "No, Non. Tumben-tumbenan si Aden to be made herbal drinks. Usually he just wants to make juice," the story goes.

Hanifa nodded. Actually there are things that he asked bi Mar again, but he hesitated and chose to accompany bi Mar to pay for the goods he bought. After that, they went home. Just a few steps away, someone's voice called out to Hanifa again.

“Kak Wafi?" hanifa asked the man in front of her. “What do you want to buy, brother?"

The one asked smiled. "I'm here to go shopping, mama" she replied. “What did you buy yourself?" Wafi asked back.

Hanifa pointed out the item she bought and immediately got a nod from Wafi.

“Mari, Non Ifa. Auntie's done buying the stuff." Bi Mar's voice intercepted Wafi's speech which would ask Hanifa something.

Looking at the bi Mar who was already nearby, Hanifa nodded. “Ya already, Brother. I'm saying goodbye, yeah. Assalamualaikum."

Wafi smiled and nodded.

“Waalaikumussalam."

After that the three women walked to the entrance of the market. From a short distance away, Hanifa could see Devan's body standing in front of her black car. His curly hair was invisible as the white hat partially covered his face. Hanifa's eyes narrowed, busy watching Devan who was walking to the wet cake vendor's place.

Although it was a little faint, Hanifa's eyes were sharp enough to see the cake seller's already very old face. He may be 70 years old. Seen from the wrinkles that adorn his face, and the condition of the body that is slightly bent.

In his makeshift clothes, the grandfather peddled his meager wares by the roadside. Hanifa's heart became touched to see Devan give some blue money to the grandfather and buy all his merchandise. Although he refused, the grandfather finally received the money given by Devan.

With a step closer, the smile on Hanifa's face expanded as Devan handed out the newly bought cookies to some of the children playing around the market. Bi Mar who saw it smiled and whispered something in his ear.

“Non Ifa know not? Although many people thought that Aden was a cold, annoying, and presumptuous man, but deep in his heart there was always care in his heart. He'd hate to see women cry, and he'd at least have the heart to see others in distress." Hanifa turned towards bi Mar.

“Actually, Nak Devan is a very good boy. But all his goodness was never shown. For aunt, the Aden is an angel of human form. During her care, son Devan never demanded anything from his brother. He always wanted to live independently. Until suffering from such a severe illness, he didn't want to trouble anyone." Bi Mar continues his story.

Bi Mar sighed heavily.

“Sorry, yes. Auntie said this to non Ifa. Aunty just wants non Ifa to know that Devan's son isn't as bad as he looks. Bibi also hopes, Non Ifa can be a friend to son Devan. Since losing her parents, she has always been alone. The day always looks bleak. But ever since non-Ifa entered Aden's life, she could see the light in her eyes. Aunt wishes, may God give her healing." Bi Mar's voice choked because it could not hold back her crying.

“Bibi hopes, hopefully Devan boy can be healed," he said again in between his tears.

"Bi, aunt, take it easy. Ifa will try to get Devan healed. We pray to God, that Devan's disease may soon disappear. We leave everything to God. Only God can heal."

After hearing Hanifa's words, bi Mar stopped her crying. It was true what Hanifa said earlier. Man is only a created being, God has power over all things.

Nothing goes on this earth without His knowledge. Everything is arranged. Even a leaf has been arranged by God where he will fall. Life and death of a person is determined. Man can only strive, the rest of God determines.

“Ya already, Bi. We're going there, yuk. Poor Devan is overheated, surely after this he will grumble for a few hours," joked Hanifa and got a nod directly from the woman who was still wiping her tears.

Devan who was crouching because he was talking to a small child, apparently did not know the presence of Hanifa, Salma and bi Mar.

“Devan," said Hanifa.

The one called raised his head. His white face was increasingly glowing under the sun that morning. After that, he stood up.

“Ngapain Lo here?"

Hanifa smiled. "You buy. What are you doing here yourself?" ask Hanifa to pretend.

“Gue ..." Devan tried to find an excuse.

Seeing Devan in confusion looking for an excuse, Hanifa and bi Mar laughed.

“Prestigious anyway, want to say to the market alone is very difficult," said Hanifa.

“Not so snail. Just want to tell you, uh even Lo who drew first," Devan replied in denial.

Hanifa's eyes narrowed slightly seeing something in the hat at Devan. “Eh. Bentar Van's. I think there's something in your hat" Hanifa pointed.

Devan who saw Hanifa's hand pointing towards him was confused. "What?"

“That, there are caterpillars in your hat.”

Devan. Instead of thinking of taking off his hat, he instead advanced his head towards Hanifa. Devan's body which was five inches higher than Hanifa made the woman's legs have to tiptoe to reach Devan's hat.

“Already," said Hanifa after removing the little caterpillar with her finger.

Devan who heard that breathed a sigh of relief. Salma who saw the fear on Devan's face laughed. “This brother is funny, yes, Sister Ifa. Though tenacious keciiil," said the 9-year-old girl laughed while squinting her thumb and index finger.

Hanifa and bi Mar had a small laugh.

“Salma, it can't be, yes. Now, Salma apologized to her brother, "hanifa's advice smiled.

Innocently, Salma's small hand pulled Devan's hand and then kissed him. “Maafin Salma yes, handsome brother. Salma promised never to marry my sister again."

Devan who saw Salma's sweet face smiled. “It's okay sweet girl. Brother is not angry," Devan replied crouched down, then stroked the head of Salma covered with a headscarf.

“Now Salma wants to go home?" devan asked and got a nod from the little girl in front of him. “You don't want Salma delivered home with sister?"

Salma was quiet for a moment. "Actually Salma would like to sis, but later got the lecture of Ifa because Salma is nicotine people."

Devan smiles. "Salma does not ngerepotin brother kok. How's it? Want yah?"

Salma glanced at her brother. Seeing Hanifa's sweet face, she immediately agreed to the wish. After getting a nod from her beloved sister, Salma's face became sparkling.

“Okay, then now we go home, yeah." Devan opened the car door. Let Salma and Hanifa in. After everyone got in, Devan drove his car.

"Thank you, good brother. Play here often, yes, sister," said Salma with a sweet smile.

"God willing," Devan replied. "Sister go home first. Assalamualaikum."

"Waalaikum salam" answered Salma and Hanifa together. As soon as the shadow of Devan's car disappeared from view, Hanifa immediately invited her sister in.

“Kak Ifa, brother was good, yes," praise Salma when they reach the living room. “But, the first sister met with sister Ifa earlier, it looks like she likes sister."

Hanifa only shook her head in response to the words of her sixth-grade sister.

"But Brother Ifa is more suited to the handsome brother earlier. What's his name, brother?"

"Devan."

"Yes. May Allah match Ifa to Brother Devan. Aamiin," said Salma plainly.

I don't know what Hanifa was thinking, did she have to secure it?
