Grizzled

Grizzled
#S2 Episode 11

When Luska said we were going to see a medical expert, I thought I would ride the horse and garuda again to arrive at the Health Service Center. Not that I don't like – I like, kok– but if the animal wasn't too fast, I would have arrived there without looking like a drunk person. Well, lucky it wasn't. This time not only Luska, Ladra also took me. The head of the Board will definitely need to know firsthand whatever the results of my examination will be. The three of us got into the glass-door elevator near the indoor park last night.

The elevator started to move up after the glass doors closed. The walls inside here are completely smooth without any of the button panels as there should be to determine the intended place.

“We will go to Health Service Center ‘kan?” my many.

“True, Your Majesty,” Ladra replied.

“Isn't this the elevator we used last night to get to the energy core space? There are no buttons to determine the destination. I thought this elevator would only take you to the same place,”.

“Lift? Oh, maybe that's what it's called in Nigra, huh? But we call this cramped room an instant portal car,” Ladra said.

“Oil-fueled or electric transport mode has long been abandoned because our resources are not enough to supply such transportation needs. Thus, the creation of instant portal carriages that connect us with many important places in Alba more quickly and efficiently. The energy consumption of this transport from the moon crystal is very little, nor does it cause pollution,” explained Luska.

Asem, motherfucker! When they lack the resources, they actually managed to create a cooler mode of transportation. Is the moon crystal so powerful that it can support the life of the White Country that is almost dispersed?! If so, I want to ask for a little bit of that energy source to bring home so that the rations for the electricity bill can move to additional snacks quotaku, ehe.

“Jadi ... no more cars or trains huh?” my many.

“Nothing, the land load of this cloud will be even greater with the existence of those objects!”

“In the castle there are seven points of portal carriages that can be accessed. All of them are connected to the Center for Health Services, Education, and important departments that are not in one area with Alba Castle.”

Whatever! I still can't help but be annoyed at the awesome technology here that doesn't exist in my home world. Elevator .. uh, no, the portal car hasn't stopped moving, I don't know how much longer.

“How does this car go where we want it?” ask me to charge time, “I don't see any buttons or microphones to enter command here.”

“Oh, communication and transportation networks and security are integrated, Your Honor. Through communication devices embedded in our arms that are always online, the place we want to go to in the mind is read by the command sensor of this transportation system,” Luska replied.

“Automatic of it?!”

“True!”

“Never wrong?”

“It could be if Your Majesty daydreams and thinks of various things when entering here.”

“Heeh?!”

“Don't scare His Majesty, stupid!” ladra said glaring at the young knight with this annoying grin.

“Sorry, Head of Board!” answer Luska. I just grunt. He should have apologized to me!

“We're here, Your Majesty!” ladra said along with the slowing elevator motion –bodo very, easier to call it an elevator. A long hallway with a radiant stone floor was visible from the glass door that slowly shifted open. I followed the two who stepped out first.

“We're already in the Health Service Center?” my many.

“Yes, Your Honor. Fast ‘kan?” answer Luska.

“Iya, anyway, but honestly such a trip is less exciting. Though I want to ride on the foggy land while looking at the city,” I replied.

“Oh, the last time we tried it, Your Majesty got dizzy and vomited, remember? I think His Majesty does not fit in with such a trip, “ replied Luska.

“That's because you're stupid!” timpal Ladra, “anyone must be vomiting when riding paxii with you!”

Oh, so the mixed animal of horses and garuda is called paxii. Okay, I'll remember!

“Here, Your Highness!” ladra said leading the way forward. The room at the turn of the hallway with the simple door I used to see opened by itself. But who would have thought that the room was unusual. I once imagined this all-white room in a space mission control center, but hey, this is the Health Center! Someone who had been busy in front of the holographic screen monitor hurriedly stood up to greet us.

“Wah, three great guests!” exclaiming the white-white-tuned young lady was half nervous, hurriedly bowing low. The pink bandana on the head that prevents the fall of the haircut seems to match her sweet smile.

“We came quickly because there would be no time to mince words. Immediately do a scan that he said took that long!” ladra.

“Understood, Head of Board!”

“Your Majesty, this is Doctor Kara, the therapist and the best neurologist in the health department,” said Luska, “start from here, Your Majesty's memory ribbon scanning procedure will be handled by Doctor Kara.”

“We retreat, Your Majesty!” said Ladra immediately turned out with Luska.

“Heh?! Then who will accompany me here?!” I ask who is just neglected.

“Greetings, Your Majesty!” said Doctor Kara suddenly prostrated on my feet, “it's an honor for me to have the opportunity to interact directly with Your Majesty!”

“Eh? Heh? Ti ... no need to do this! Do ... Kara doctor .. I should be the one who feels happy because ... Doctor, please don't treat me excessively ...” I replied that I was always unkind whenever someone had to behave like this to me.

“Eh? But His Majesty is indeed someone with extraordinary advantages who has and will save the White Country ..”.

“But .. but please, I am not used to this treatment and am not at all comfortable with it! Do ... Doctor Kara is also an equally great person, so don't humble yourself like this,” I replied. Sometimes I don't think. In the midst of the greatness of technological development that is close to the aroma of modernization, the culture of the past that so glorifies a king or queen also remains in the middle of this society.

“Your Highness is really good as I saw in the news last night,” said Doctor Kara, “I had heard that Her Highness was raised as an ordinary girl in Nigra, is that true?”

“True, really ordinary! Imagine how crazy I suddenly have to face all this!” my answer.

“I am a psychiatric therapist, so I understand the feelings of Your Majesty,” Doctor Kara said.

“Good, good! I need someone who can understand me!”

“Because everything is too tiring for Your Majesty, may I behave as a commoner as a fellow friend to you? Your Majesty can call me Kara only.”

“Friends? Can be! Doctor Kara can also stop calling me Your Majesty. I haven't heard anyone calling with my name since the last three days!”

“Wah, really?! Kara will be the luckiest doctor by being allowed to call out Her Majesty's name, but shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! The stiff old man was a bit fierce!”

I chuckled softly, “Alright, fine! I'm Shira. So, when do we start that scanning session?”

“In a moment, let's go inside here!” bring him with a cheerful smile.

I followed Kara towards the wall which turned out to be able to shift upwards, showing another room inside.

“Well, please sit down, Your Majesty .. uh, I mean, Shira ..”

“Thank you,” answered me dropping my ass on a white single sofa, separated by a glass table with one similar sofa in front of me.

“Oh yes, Kara knows Kara's request is excessive. Basic do not know themselves when they can be familiar with Shira, but .. can Kara take a photo with Shira to be uploaded on social media?”

“EEh?!”

“Hehe, can't ya?”

“BY! CAN BE! Why didn't anyone tell me there was social media in the world?!”

“What? Shira just found out?! Young Knight Luska hasn't told Shira?”

“But!”

“Yeah, means Shira doesn't have an account yet and Kara so can't tag Shira later!” said Doctor Kara who inexplicably reminded me of Yasinta. Geez, I can't believe I have to admit this, but I really miss those cherry blossoms!

Before taking a picture, Kara asked me to wear a pink bandana similar to the one she was wearing. Her favorite accessories, Kara says. We took a selfie, facing a single micro-camera location that flew parallel to our position. Just by voice detection command, the camera automatically snaps our images. Really, I want a waitress in the castle to be invited to an exclamation like Kara.

“Sip! I will envy the whole Alba!” he said he looked satisfied to see our pictures. I just laughed amusedly, imagining how my photo would sell well if sold here.

We continued to talk about other exciting things. I don't even remember the scanning session that was my main goal coming here. Kara asked me to tell her about life in Nigra, about my school, family, and friends. I'm basically missing them telling me every detail enthusiastically. He listened with equal enthusiasm, occasionally comparing with his own family.

It turns out that Kara has long been an orphan since the attack of the beasts of the Grey World when the expansion that took her village. He recounted it with a smile that clearly endured the pain of the terrible tragedy that flashed across his head. I feel guilty for telling only the fun things from my family.

“Yeah, now I am a Kara who is a kara, hehe!” abugn.

“As you know, my parents didn't really get along as well as they do now. There used to be a tempest that divided our family. I even fell into depression twice for the sake of thinking about it,”, I said at least let him know that I had also experienced an unpleasant phase.

“But thank goodness everything is back! Shira is lucky!”

“Iya! Although I do not know the cause of the improvement of their relationship, I prefer a lot of gratitude.”

“Eh, um, I don't know! It seems ... don't remember because everything improved after I was depressed until I was in a coma for a week. I'm sure that's what caused the loss of some of my memories,”.

After that, Kara wondered about the events before I went into a coma and the last memory that was still left in my head. Hey, that was a year and a half ago and there's very little detail I remember.

“Jadi ... Shira only remembers that?” ask Kara.

“Ya ..”.

“Did Shira ever experience a dream or dejavu that felt strongly related to Shira's memory?”

I was silent for a moment. Ever since everything went back to being okay, I don't even remember my dreams because what happened in the real world is sweet enough to live with. The dream I still remember was the pickup by Luska – I remember because the dream drove me to the annoying condition of today– and a small child who came to hug me before the dream ended. Well, that's it.

“How?” ask Kara.

“Ah, I do not feel my dreams or daydreams are related to events in the past,” I replied.

“Oh, so ...”

“Why not immediately we just start the procedure of scanning the memory tape. I'm sure Luska and the Head of the Board have been waiting for a long time.”

“Hm, right,” replied Kara nodded, took something like a watch and put it on my right wrist. Shortly after it was activated, it displayed blood pressure information, heart rate scans, and my breathing. Kara asked me to take a deep breath and then exhale strongly. He analyzed it for a while before finally deactivating the tool again.

“Alright, already!” kara replied, saving the watch back and then facing me again with a different impression.

“Physically and psychically, His Majesty's condition is good overall,” he said.

“Heh, you agreed to call me by name, remember?”

“We just wait for the preview of Your Majesty's memory tape track record in a moment along with the analysis of the damage,” replied Kara suddenly became someone else. The smile and carefree face that he had displayed throughout the chatter had changed into a serious flat look.

“The scanning session is over, Your Honor. Please remove the bandana in your head,” he said again.

“Seriously, done yet? But the smartwatch only scans the lung and cardiovascular performance, not my neural memory!”

“Indeed, Her Majesty's memory ribbon scanning has started since Her Majesty wore this bandana while telling her from earlier. Every detail of the story you tell forms a pattern that can be mapped regularly,” Kara said as she removed the bandana she meant from my head. I still miffed not understanding.

“Your Majesty didn't notice it ‘kan? This is the safest and most accurate procedure for scanning memory bands. I've been trained to approach patients without making it tense or stressful that will have a lot of effect on the results of the examination.”

“Jadi ... so that was just acting?”

“Acting? Hm, I don't know. That's what I learned before I got a therapist license.”

Shit, I feel bullied. So Kara doesn't really want to be my friend? I just got to know her and somehow got a little upset just because of that. What is so sad about me now that I have to whine when the shadow gets a new friend touched and faded at the same time? No one can replace Yasinta.

“Let's go back to the vestibule, Your Majesty. This scanner bandana is connected to the monitor there. Record the memory tape track Your Majesty can we research together,” said Kara. I just nodded weakly, according to him. Ladra and Luska had already returned to the vestibule, staring at our steps out.

“Wah, it turned out faster than I thought,” commented Luska.

“That's because I understand the rush of the Lord,” replied Kara.

“Hm, hopefully it does not reduce the accuracy of your diagnosis,” timpal Ladra.

“Well, let's see the result!”

Kara turns on the monitor, operating it briefly until lines that look like road lanes in a satellite map fill the screen.

“This is the result of the memory tape scan Your Majesty,” said Kara. Oh, it's not a satellite map, it's a map of my memory.

“Explain!” ladra's orders.

“The point is here,” indicates Kara enlarged one red dot, “damage in this section due to sideways destructive and constructive waves. It's the strangest phenomenon I've ever encountered.”

“How strange is it to be restored?” ask Ladra.

“Recovered? Is the Head of the Board joking? The title of today's activity is Memory Ribbon Scanning. I just completed a scan to find the source of the damage ..”

“I put a nominal ten times more into your account and believe you will not mind directly handling the recovery session today as well,” cut Ladra.

“Sorry, Chairman of the Board, this is not solely a matter of nominal fees. Please pay attention first,” replied Kara, “the traces of the destructive wave that was scanned are completely abnormal compared to the causes of the damage that occurs naturally. Moreover, there is a constructive wave as well.”

“In conclusion, the Doctor would like to say that this loss of memory of His Majesty was intentional?” guess Luska.

“Quickly!”

“We do not dispute whether the damage was intentional or not. The most important thing is his recovery!” firmly Ladra.

“True, Head of Board, his recovery! With intentional damage like this, the recovery procedures that exist today are too risky to carry out. To be honest, any human would die under the attack of a terrifying destructive wave that messed up the nerves, but His Majesty survived with a constructive wave that compensated for the severe damage. Now, we all want His Majesty's recovery instantly, by fiddling with those already messy fragile nerve fibers? We will only kill His Majesty ..”

“We are not planning that!”

“Sure! That's why, I reluctantly declare that for the time being, Your Majesty's memory has not been restored,” said Kara immediately filling the silence in this room. What say?

“Fifteen times than normal cost. What still can not?” ask Ladra.

“Head of the Board, I'm not kidding! Again, this is not about cost! The development of memory recovery has not yet come to a deliberate case. In case naturally, the recovery time takes about one to five years.”

“White Team to doomsday!”

“True, Young Knight Luska. That's when the case of memory damage naturally. For deliberate cases, it can take longer.”

I have not commented much, rather sad also hope of the return of my memory dashed as soon as the extinction of my hope of befriending Kara.

“There must be another way!” ladra said rubbing his tired face.

“Indeed,” replied Kara a little relief.

“What is it?” this time I made a sound.

“The only one who can make the recovery instantaneously and safely is the one who created the destructive wave in the memory band of His Majesty,” Kara replied.

“You mean the perpetrator of memory destruction Your Majesty?” ask Luska.

“Ya!”

“Which we might know!” luska replied annoyed.

“I know,” replied Ladra, “I know the culprit.”

“Who?” I'm just impatient.

“Griseo!”
