Grizzled

Grizzled
#S2 Episode 7

Purposefully. I deliberately showed off my disheveled face in the middle of this event called the Internal Council Body Conference. Such a look must have greatly disavowed the hard work of the waiter who painstakingly dressed me as beautiful as possible. Let it be, I am more and more in a mood to know the clothes that I have to wear in this event, the white dress that makes me look like a bride, especially I have to be lined up next to Luska! I've never been in the wrong costume this bad!

No matter how happy the faces of the people surrounding this long table were, the excessive frowning and bad mood I could not cover up at all. Conference with agenda bla bla bla bla bla – I am lazy to remember it– which basically proves that I really have to be appointed queen of this country. The long opening of the middle-aged man who had welcomed me in the hall court did not diminish my fellowship. The speech that just pass through the right ear out the left ear is not so I look closely.

His name is Ladra, the head of the council that heads the Internal Council, a group of policy-holders of the White State government. The position of king or queen has long been vacant. That void could not be filled just anyone outside the lineage of the Alba noble lineage. From the genealogical thread it is still not just any offspring who have the right to inherit the throne. Bottom line ... ribet! That is the cause of the vacancy of leadership so that it needs to be supported by the Body of the Internal Council.

“The issue of the emptiness of the throne stems from the opening of the secrets of the two worlds, Alba and Nigra, a thousand years ago that prompted many of our knights to explore Nigra, including ..”.

“Alba is the name of this castle, but Nigra is what?” I cut the explanation. It's not polite, but rather than clueless.

“Oh, sorry, Alba is actually a designation for the white world, while Nigra is the black world where His Majesty was born and raised,” Ladra replied that seemed to be conveying a lot in the future.

“Thank you, understood. Continue!” I replied though a little wonder why my home world is called a black world? Is this world called the white world? Ah, I don't know!

Unruled, the young man to Ladra's right immediately activates something on the table that turns out to work like a touchscreen. The hologram contains various data analysis models radiating to support Ladra's subsequent explanation.

“This is the result of the hard work of our historians and research team,” he said.

This hologram glow reflected in my eyes. These foreign characters I had never learned were miraculously understandable. The collection of information from old records, the software that contains the data of the genealogical tree that branches, is getting down more and more complicated. Some lines are broken with the ‘Migration to Nigra sign'.

“Since the opening of knowledge of parallel worlds, many of our knights ventured there, including the descendants of the Alba nobility who we tried to keep the genealogy pure. However, it is clearly difficult to do after a massive migration. The nobility's lineage became chaotic after most knights settled in Nigra and married the locals. That's why the portal to Nigra is closed with a series of procedures,” Ladra explained. He cleared his throat for a moment before continuing the explanation.

“Sadly, the problem already cannot be prevented. The descendants of the Alba nobility should not leave the White Country. Since then, the determination of the heir to the throne every period has always led to difficulties. Finding legal heirs in Alba alone is difficult. That forced us to focus our research on the alleged existence of a legitimate heir living in Nigra. On the other hand, fearing emptiness, someone who has no right is ever forced to be appointed king, but it invites disaster. Inevitably we have to really find the rightful heir wherever he is in various ways.”

“And you guys ended up believing that I was the rightful heir of it?” my many.

“Yes, one of the track records we found was the migration of a descendant of a medicine specialist noble. He continued Alba's noble lineage in Nigra until it ended in His Majesty's name.”

“I believe your data is accurate, but the lineage is too far away and no longer pure. The times when there are no descendants of nobles in Alba who are closer, who are more worthy to be appointed as leaders?” my many.

“The problem is, the rightful heir is not determined only from pure descent or not, nor only from a close kinship. No matter how mixed it is, the blood of the Alba noble who was chosen to be the rightful heir will not be eliminated because of it. Events are always markers approved or not someone who sits on the throne.”

“Universe events? Sounds irrational to believe a nation that has advanced civilization like you.”

“As explained in the beginning, disaster will come when someone who is not entitled to be appointed leader. Had there been no such thing, there would have been no objection if I myself, who were still both descendants of the Alba nobility with the achievement of leading this council faction was appointed king,” Ladra said.

The whole room laughed.

“Sorry, Your Grace. I'm kidding,” he added.

My brain is trying to digest information, realize something, “Wah, with that provision, are you not worried about the next disaster because it has chosen me wrong?”

“We try to optimistically believe that true Who Glorious is the rightful heir because of the signs that appear on you.”

“What signs? I'm just a kid who hasn't even turned nineteen yet. Handing over the power of government to me is a disaster in itself.”

“Your Majesty is too self-humiliating. Regarding the government, there is us, the Internal Board Body that will help, but regarding the legitimate heir sign, too clear without being able to be covered,” Ladra said. This time he himself was fiddling with the hologram screen. The drawing of a circle with an intricate motif in the center that appeared was not at all foreign to me. That's a tattoo on Luska's forehead, maybe the same motif as on my nape.

“In addition to the pattern like a tattoo that is a birthmark on the nape of His Majesty –that is the common feature of the descendants of Alba nobility. Me, Luska, and a few people here have it– but His Majesty also has a special feature as the rightful heir, namely the sublime power that is passed down randomly!”

I'm stunned, don't-don't .. The strange power that I've been experiencing lately?!

“Your Majesty must have secretly realized that. Let me give you a brief explanation. It was an absolute omen of the rightful heir we had been looking for all this time. Your Majesty inherited that power from your grandmother after she died. She's the rightful heir we're looking for, but Her Majesty's grandmother died before she could be made queen, that power randomly chose you as her heir.”

I had time to blink in disbelief, “There may be senile parents who have genealogical threads of the descendants of the nobility of this country! Please, check your data again!”

“If our data is indeed wrong, does Your Majesty have an explanation of the origin of the power you have mastered lately? I believe that power is not commonplace in Nigra,” Ladra replied.

Ah, crap! After thinking about it, there is nothing I can dispute. My powers came after Grandma died. I could not do many miracles. However, rejection after rejection still filled my head.

“Still, I should know if grandma has the magic you mean, but all this time my grandmother was really just a normal human,” I replied. Ladra.

“The reality is that Your Majesty does not know enough, or Your Majesty's grandmother herself realizes that the magic is too strange so there is no need to tell it.”

I let out a breath. Let's get an idea, get an idea! Make an irrefutable objection! I don't want to be a queen in this strange place, no matter how they say it's my ancestral ground or whatever it is! I have to go back to my home world. Being a cranky teenager with a series of exam schedules is altogether more palatable than carrying on the great responsibilities of one world.

Instead of further debating, another question flashed through my head. Something has not been discussed since. Something Luska repeatedly said in my dreams. Aquila also had a chance to talk about chaos .. the safety of many people ....

“Izin reports, Head of Board!” exclaiming someone suddenly entered the conference room, distracting me before my curiosity made a sound.

“It looks like you forgot that there should be no interruptions during the conference,” Ladra replied looking at the person with an unpleasant look.

“I remember, Head of Board,” replied while neutralizing breath gasping, “when I finally dare to interrupt, imagine how emergency our situation is!”

“That's the responsibility of the defense department!” ladra said to the person who then answered a word two nervously. The face of this council chief's frenzy further aggravated my premonition and everyone here.

“Sorry, Your Grace. Conference we'll continue next time. I'm sure there is still a lot of dissatisfaction that His Majesty wants to protest. Young Knight Luska will answer all the information you need,” Ladra said then had the other council members hurry up. The young man sitting next to Ladra had left the last room after deactivating the hologram on the table.

“Hey, hey! What was it?” I asked the only person who still lived in the room besides me.

“Oh, something may have happened related to the expansion of the gray world,” replied Luska.

“Ha? The gray world expansion? What other events are those?” my many. Luska got up from her chair, stretched for a moment.

“Your Majesty, I want to introduce our ancestral land from its best side first. In addition, I'm sure there are still many things you want to ask,” replied Luska. Just looking at him in the face makes me sure I still want to beat him to death.

“Mari, Your Majesty! Before the sun sets, there is still enough time for your exclusive tour!”

“Bodo highly! I want to change clothes first,” I replied grumbling.

“Eh, why? Though His Majesty is fit to wear this dress ... Ouch!”

My hand just slapped the empty air, but the effect of the punch was enough to hit the face of the commenter I didn't ask for. This time I did it intentionally.

“I don't need your opinion!” reply sniffed, “please tell the waiter to next stop preparing the clothes that trouble me!”

“Understanding!” grin Luska while stroking her forehead, “by the way, His Majesty's room is not over there.”

“Oh,” reply me short, turn around while holding back embarrassment.

I haven't been out of my room since I changed my clothes in an hour. I took a bath with an experience not much different as in Aquila tower, soaking in warm water, without soap or shampoo, but kept clean and fresh. Somehow the water that seeps from the walls of the pond basin can give such a sensation.

The female servant who served me since this morning had prepared a sleeveless white onepiece canal dress that looked simpler than the troublesome ballgown like that. Simpler, but does not reduce the special impression because it must be used by –I still do not want to believe– would-be queen of the White Country, myself.

I was sitting by the window reading the book I found. Luska may have been waiting because she said she would take me on a tour around the castle or museum, but no, I was a mager and still very upset with her. So, instead of me feeling guilty about constantly beating Luska, I better not be around her first.

The sun began to fall on the horizon .. uh, no, it's above the clouds. So what's the more appropriate name? Hm, I don't know, the point is that it's soon to be night and worries can't stop bothering me. Imagine, it's late again while I haven't told the house people. Plus tomorrow is Monday, I've got to go to school.

“Aaargh! Fucking luska!” detangku annoyed. I still can't stop blaming him because after all he was the one who was as sweet as taking me here before saying goodbye to anyone. The only one who knew that I was going with Luska was Kak Garuda. Wow, yes, Brother Garuda! I still don't understand what this has to do with, but she obviously knows Luska. I secretly agree with Kak Garuda's words that Luska is indeed a parallel interunia kidnapper that must be massed until it is not in the form of!

Ah, my goodness! Forget about it! There seems to be a lot I need to know about this world. Slowly, I tried to keep a journal of notes like I used to do in my real world there. I asked the waiter if there was a pen or an empty book, but he said they had not been used for a long time. This book in my hand is the last favorite old book of the king to occupy the throne, which seems to be left here.

All recorded activities in this world have been replaced with data input-output mechanisms through touch screen devices such as in conference rooms. For a moment I understood that the desk in the room also served as a super large tablet of data processors.

I hate to admit it, but I'm amazed by the cutting-edge technology of this country's civilization. Maybe that is also in my home world, but in reality not all residents can enjoy the sophistication of such devices. The truth is not to me alone. Well, I guess I'm gonna be a goddamn queen! Haha, this country will soon end up in the hands of such a queen!

“Izin in, Your Highness!” said someone's voice after knocking on the door.

“If not kuizinkan?” my reply to recognize the owner of the voice out there must be Luska.

“I will be sad,” he replied, “because I have waited a long time without knowing the reason Your Majesty stalling.”

“Good, grieve longer,” I answer no matter.

“Sorry for everything, Your Majesty!” luska suddenly said it was behind me.

“Didn't you let me in?!” I was angry, but again Luska just smiled.

“Surely all this is heavy and His Majesty is less able to adjust, but it is all just a matter of time. Something that makes His Majesty love Nigra and the people there must be a long time that you have spent with them. That is why, I will as much as possible make His Majesty also love Alba, because His Majesty will obviously spend a longer time here, throughout the rest of His Majesty's age.”

Well, I still want to hit Luska for her words that again sound careless, but this time I hold back because my pity veins are functioning properly.

“Please, tell anyone not to expect too much from me!” I answered while closing the book I read earlier, “with all the privileges I got, does not mean I want to stay here! In addition to the family and friends I love, I also have ideals that I have set in my home world and are struggling to make it happen! Stop forcing me to be your queen!”

“I understand His Majesty's feelings! Again, it's all a matter of time. Please say whatever you like, but human feelings can change at any time,” replied Luska.

“What makes you so sure I can be at home in a country full of chaos?” I finally got to talk about it. Luska's smile faded for a few seconds.

“Don't you think I don't know! You told me yourself. ‘For the sake of the thousand-year civilization that our ancestors have built, only the power of His Majesty is able to defuse the melee'. Because too many times I heard, I accidentally became memorized,” I added repeating his words in my dream. Luska had not yet made a sound, throwing her gaze out the window.

“Honestly, I was picked up and made queen only to be used ‘kan?”
