Grizzled

Grizzled
Episode 16's

To be honest I don't know what heavy food friends mean, but it doesn't seem like anyone will refuse noodles. Me and Eagle did not want to take a headache, ordered noodles at the nearest store from the school —reality almost two kilometers. The distinctive smell of chili greets my sense of smell for the first time.

“Thank God not too crowded,” comment Eagle after ordering to one of the servers, “we do not need to queue for long.”

“Just the same, Lang. Our own order there are twelve boxes,” I replied.

“Indeed we can carry that much at once?”

“No idea, maybe it can, but the contents will be a little messy.”

“Ah, yes bodo very!” the eagle did not care. He sipped his iced coffee while I just stirred my lemon tea. Waiting for that much order certainly made us thirsty, but this is a great opportunity to discuss what should be discussed.

“Um ... Lang. Are you ... are you okay?” many doubt.

“What do you care?”

“Lang! I'm serious! You don't remember what happened last night?”

“Oh, which makes you cry that great?”

“Laang! Again I say, I'm serious!”

“I'm serious too, Shir! Really I don't know what you're worried about,” she replied lightly.

“I'm not worried at all! It's just .. It's just that I want to know what happens after you get caught,” I replied.

“I think you already know what will happen if I get caught, that's why you are so panicked and call me early in the morning, unfortunately it was Garuda who received your call. You satisfied? I've been cut all out!”

“I didn't ask about that, Lang! Can you really seriously answer how you escaped and survived? As far as I know you will indeed end up in the hands of that monster and will not be in front of me again if you get caught!”

“You don't like it if I survive?”

Puh, I want to drop my iced tea on my head to cool down. I just want an explanation, not a debate. I saw the eagle holding back a laugh. Uhh! Not funny, you idiot! Nothing is funny!

“I was also curious, Shir. Why do you care so much about my safety? Not that I'm a baper, but it sounds annoying that my fate —my salvation— depends on you, it's not cool.”

“What reason is important?”

“Iya, so please let me know!”

“You just switched the conversation, Lang!”

“No, Shir. Explanation paid explanation. I will tell you what you want after you tell me what I want too,” replied the Eagle. Kuhela's breathing's bad. I should have understood that the Eagle is so stubborn.

“Alright, fine! You want to know why I had to save you, huh?! Because ... it's because .. because I don't know! I don't know, Lang! Anyway I won't let anyone get stuck in that place! Even if Miss Listiyah who once raged against me was also stuck there, I should also help her!” my answer.

“Cih, that sounds so naive. Is that really a logical reason?” refute Eagle.

“You asked about logicality? Now that I return it to you, do you want to be stuck there? What about the family and friends you left behind? You don't think about the feelings of those who will lose.”

“Then I return it too. Don't you also have family and friends who will lose you if you're gone? You don't think about them either and are busy thinking about how to save me. Don't argue, Shir, the fact is it is.”

I smiled bitterly. Where's there! Who will lose if I'm gone?! How ridiculous!

“I accept your excuses, Shir. You may be as naive and stupid as that, but remember, we fight together, just for your own safety. I don't want anyone to sacrifice like the story of Sakti and Sekti,” said Eagle, “and I'd hate it the most if you sacrifice for my sake, it's not cool, I don't like!”

“Alright, I also accept your proposal. You are stubborn and like to be stubborn! But remember, I don't care if you're cool or not, it doesn't matter!” my answer. I'm glad this debate ended peacefully.

The Eagle glass was empty while my iced tea was still half left. Scroll the watch, it's only ten minutes. Is it still a long time?

“Now it's your turn. I'm honestly glad you're safe, but how?” my many.

“Um, actually I don't really understand, anyway!”

“Do not dodge anymore! You must have done something, right?”

“You sure you want to hear it?”

“I've been asking you since, Lang!”

“Well, you know for yourself how I was when I was caught. For not being able to fight anymore, so I chose to stab the sword into my own chest.”

I coughed to hear it.

“Not your hands are paralyzed?” my dispute.

“Right hand, but lucky left hand is still good,” he replied.

“Lucky from where, heh!”

“That monster doesn't seem to want me dead before I'm grounded. Therefore, before being removed, I pulled the sword stuck in my chest downwards, deepening to tear my stomach.

The eagle just grinned, “And you yourself asked me to tell him.”

“Crazy! You think your safety is assured after a suicide?”

“Reality yes.”

“The reality is you are a psychopath, you masochist! Uh! I don't know, Lang! You always just suck!” reply upset. My mood fell apart after the Eagle told me the bloody scene. I don't have any taste for the rest of my iced tea. He just chuckles softly.

I know Eagle wants to tell me more about his —Yeah, he deliberately played me. Luckily, our order was ready and we had to get back to class. Starving friends are waiting for us.

“Shir, my story is not finished!”

“I don't care, Lang!” I replied grumbling annoyed. The rest of the questions in the corner of my head are making a sound. Is it true that the Eagle survived because of his suicide?

 ****

Frosts are falling from the sky. The one who didn't have time to touch the ground floated low and then got stuck in my hair. Grey flames from the torch along the corridor weaved, stroked by a gust of cold wind, never to be extinguished. I do hope the light does not go out because there is no better lighting in this place. The first full moon I saw in this world was never seen again. I don't know where.

With the fingers starting to numb from the cold, I continued to browse the back corridor of —th grade ten IPS— looking around anxiously for the existence of Sakti and Eagle.

Sometimes I look at the dark sky that still spills snow. I was so anxious, afraid that if suddenly the snow began to melt. Frequently looking up made me not pay attention to the front. I screamed in order to hear the low snoring of the monstrous creature standing five steps ahead of me. His eyes were closed, still in hibernation mode. With a heartbeat that was still unruffled from shock, I hurriedly turned around, running around a little trying not to create a commotion. May the monster's sense of hearing become blunt during its hibernation.

However, I actually hit another figure at the turn of the corridor. With feelings still muddled, I wanted to run away without knowing who I had hit. He caught me first, closed my mouth tight.

“Ssttt! Don't be noisy!” whispered the man. I stopped struggling when I recognized that voice.

“Lang! You ...”

“Yeah! I told you not to be noisy!” shirking. I took a few steps back from him and turned around while closing my eyes after noticing something.

“Lang, why are you naked?”

“Not to overdo it! I'm just bare-chested!”

“You think it's ethical to see women?”

“You think where my clothes are?!”

“I should have asked that!” seruku.

“If I knew I couldn't ask, Shir!”

“Forget it, Lang! We must quickly take cover,” I said getting out of that place while the Eagle just tailed behind me.

“Enak just said so! Had this happened in the real world maybe I'd been viral for being bare-chested during a blizzard!” his nagging occasional shivering in the cold. Ah, pity too, anyway! I picked up one of the fire torches on the side of the corridor. The gray flames were almost extinguished by the cold wind. The eagle put his hand around the flame. I hope it helps him a little.

“Warm does not last long, Shir. We'd better keep moving forward,” said the Eagle.

“Then you carried this torch during the trip,” I replied. She shook her head.

“Cannot, the torch will be extinguished when we cross the open field. Our last destination is the building next door, right? The row of teacher rooms and staff rooms we have not checked. Perhaps there can still be used for shelter,” replied the Eagle then continued walking again. A short memory flashed through my head, making me shudder in horror.

“That means we'll cross the lobby?” my many.

“You scared?”

“Because it's there close to the monster nest. The last time we crossed there we were hit by bad luck, Lang,”.

“Then from that, in order not to be hit by bad luck a second time, we must cross the place before the snow melts, before the hibernation of the monsters ends.”

“I just don't want to act rashly like yesterday,” my answer is still doubtful. The eagle clucked and pulled my hand impatiently.

“Much talk! Not immediately making a decision will also be fatal!” his reply forced me to obey him walking towards the front building. I almost slipped as I ran across the open field filled with ice and snow, lucky Eagle still holding my hand.

We arrived at the front building with hair filled with white snow powder. My fingers are getting cold. The condition of the Eagle was much worse, but he tried to look fine.

I just tailed behind the Eagles that were like they were not traumatized, walking straight across the lobby as if nothing had ever happened in that place. I hope that yesterday's events won't happen again.

Thankfully the Eagle's guess was correct, the teacher's room was accessible. The atmosphere inside was daytime with sufficient lighting, but the temperature was still as cold as outside.

“I'll take a torch near here, we'll make a bonfire inside,” I propose. Eagle agreed.

Me and the Eagle immediately entered the cubicle when they found out the snow was starting to melt. But I took a step of this torch into the room, the fire went out and all I saw was black.

"Lang's? What's going on?" manya panic.

"Whoa?!"
