DREAM OF THE SHADOW

CHAPTER 37

Adit plays with Gracia who is studying on her stomach. His round eyes were exactly like Becca's, but his curly hair resembled Adit's hair as a child, which was funny. Sometimes his mind drifted to memory a few days ago. Joshua had told me everything Devi had done in Surabaya and the accident that had happened to Yuna. And foolishly, Adit had already asked Yuna back to him in front of Rebecca. Shit, curse. Becca has been angry with her for two weeks and Adit can't blame her. He was wrong and stupid to fall into Devi's trap. Adit had tried to contact Devi to ask for her explanation, but failed. Devi's like lost in the earth. And Adit was too prestige to ask Joshua.

"Darling!! What have you done?!" Becca's shout breaks Adit's bad daydream. Suddenly she panicked when she saw Gracia spewing some milk and wetting the little pink dress.

"Jeez Grace, what's wrong with you, son?" Adit's hand that almost touched his daughter was immediately patted by his wife who looked very angry and panicked.

"Let me!" Becca held her son for a while and took a wet tissue and wiped Gracia's mouth and neck, and changed her clothes.

"Sorry dear, I didn't realize that." Adit's words cut Becca.

"That's it. When did you ever realize that Grace and I were in your life?" Becca's tone sounded calm and flat yet deep. Adit became silent to hear it, he was out of excuses and words since the incident that night.

"I'm sorry, honey. I will not have such thoughts again. I-i promise. Now it's just you and Grace." Adit hugged Becca who was holding her son from behind. Becca let go of that hug.

"Sus..Sus...Please take care of Grace first!" Becca hands her son to the nanny and closes the door to her room.

"So what are you going to do now?" Becca ruffled her waist to face her husband sitting on the edge of their bed.

"I just want us to be like we used to be, baby." Adit hugged her closer.

"I can forgive you. But the words you said that night kept ringing in my head. I can't delete it Dit. Can't!" Becca held her voice to sound out of the room.

"I know Honey. I'll make you trust me again. I promise there's only you now. I'm sorry." Adit kissed her softly from the hand, neck, and anchored on the tiny lips. It's been two weeks that she and Becca have been out of touch and Adit misses her a lot.

Becca only resigned when Adit showered her with a kiss. Honestly, he also missed Adit a lot. But the pain of her husband asking Yuna back to him, made everything go gray. All her happiness and married life became vague. Even Gracia, I don't know where she's in Adit's life. But Becca has to survive, for her and Gracia's sake. All he has risked to get Adit's love. He can't give up now. Becca is quite familiar with the nature of Yuna, her former best friend. Yuna will never want to go back to Adit. Especially now that there is Joshua, his first love once who now always clings to wherever Yuna goes. Becca can't really enjoy Adit's game. His mind is too much. But he's happy Adit still needs him, though the big question is whether he needs it out of love, or needs it because Becca is just a woman, the mother of her child.

Time has shown at 18:40 as Joshua is sitting in the lobby waiting for Yuna to step down from her office.

"Shua?" Yuna was shocked when she saw Shua in front of the open elevator as she was already down in the lobby.

"I just wanted to follow you upstairs. It's your first day of work, sweetheart. Aren't you tired? Or do I need to apply for an extra leave?" shua said in a slightly annoyed tone.

"I'm sorry, I was going home, but just remembered there's an email I haven't answered yet." Yuna was struggling spoiled on her lover's arm, trying to ease the annoyed-looking Shua.  They walked to the car park in the basement.

"It seems like you're rarely overtime, huh?" yuna asked while hooking her seat belt.

"Papa used me to not have overtime long ago. Time management is essential to the balance of life."

"Gee..Looks like I have a lot to learn about that, Mr. Joshua hahaha..." Yuna laughed because she had never thought about it before.

"Goup.." Shua's brief kiss stopped Yuna's crisp laughter.

"You could have. It's too soon for us..." Yuna's sentence was cut by Shua who was clasping her hands.

"I asked my parents to propose to you." Shua looked at her lover's eyes.

"I...L'm...I'm afraid I'm not ready." Shua did see there was a speck of doubt in Yuna's eyes. It was sad for her to know Yuna was still doubting her.

"It's ok. We'll get engaged first. I'll wait until you're ready. We're not gonna rush into marriage because I want everything to be perfect in time." Shua looks very calm and all of Yuna's answers are almost exactly what she imagined.

Yuna nodded in agreement. He stroked Shua's handsome face before hugging her tightly. Yuna felt very grateful because Shua understood her very well.

"Where do you eat?" ask Shua.

"Bik Sum is cooking at home. She called my mom, told me to cook so I wouldn't eat out for a while. Want me to eat at home?" Yuna rolled her eyes.

"You dong. Time has invited me to refuse?" Shua eagerly runs her car towards Yuna's house.

"Eating is yes, not another hahaha..."

Bik Sum tidied up the empty plate on the dining table. It looks like the corn soup and chicken rica that is cooked is almost gone. Yuna always reminded her to first set aside vegetables and side dishes for Bik Sum and Mang Jun first so that they would not need to eat Yuna's leftovers.

"Thank you Bik Sum for dinner. It's delicious." praise Shua. Bik Sum looked a little blushed praised by a handsome youngster like Shua.

"Frequently here Den, later aunty masakin delicious." Yuna laughed at Bik Sum's invitation.

"So what about Devi? You really want to go to the police?" yuna asked as she sat on the front porch.

"I'm in a discussion with my lawyer. Honestly looking for concrete evidence of your accident is a bit difficult. But I'll find a gap, but he can't come near you anymore. Especially to harm you. That's all that matters."

"That's it, baby. Poor him. I'm okay now." Yuna rubbed gently on Shua's arm. He was annoyed to hear what Devi had done to him. But he could not imagine if the beautiful girl had to curl up in prison. Devi is only trapped by her deep feelings for Joshua. And her unrequited love had already made her lost.

"You don't know how I felt seeing you in a coma yesterday. Almost crazy, my dear. And when I found out that Devi was the one who caused you harm, how could I just let it go?! I just wanted to make sure she couldn't be with you anymore. You calm down, yes. I'll take care of everything. Comein' Honey. I'll go home first so you can rest."

"Oh yeah, Saturday I'll take you somewhere. Clear your schedule." Shua smiled sweetly.

"Where?" yuna asked curiously.

"Secret." Shua kissed her forehead and waved her hand. He walked to his car smiling at the little surprise he had prepared for the woman he loved.
