45. Contrition

The door!

The door!

A shrill bullet rang out across the room, darting through the skin. Everything happens in one blink of an eye. The dense red blood drenched on the ceramic floor below.

Brucks

The body fell.

Empty views.

Staring in disbelief at the few seconds that had just passed..

"AA-AAA-A!"

The two bullets that were now lodged in his body curled up while tightly gripping the point that became the center of his pain.

The fallen man...

Mervins..

Groans followed by the clattering of footsteps made the atmosphere become increasingly tense.

"Remand the man, immediately!" The command of someone stout in the doorway.

"Good sir!"

A group of people in uniform complete with firearms swung in. Khai who suddenly appeared among the policemen immediately approached Ken. Removing the mine ties that had been wrapped around his body.

"Ken, are you okay?"

Ken doesn't really understand the situation. He only nodded faintly, his tears had already fallen making his voice seem lost. Khai could feel Ken's body trembling in fear, speeding up the movement of his hand unraveling the knot.

The former reddened bond is clearly visible because he had rebelled. But he ignored it with pain in his skin.

Shortly after Ken was released, he immediately approached Typhoon which was lying horribly on the side of the room even though he was limped.

"Nor Typhoon.."

Carefully, Ken brought the Typhoon's head into his lap. Looking at the pale face that had lost its tone. Cold greets when their skin touches.

"Nor Typhoon! Wake up! I beg!" Ken started sobbing.

She hoped that her brother would only sleep for a moment and would welcome her with a warm smile.

He kept calling out, hoping for a warm smile along with the bright twinkle of those blue eyes. Unfortunately Ken's hope was swallowed bitterly, the eyelids were faithful in their husks.

Khai who followed Ken behind was inevitably shocked by the Typhoon's condition, "Geez Typhoon!"

Hali who was still fixated because of the new shock was realized when she heard the noise on the side of the room and immediately approached, remembering the condition of Hurricane.

Khai moved to check the pulse of the Typhoon. Unfeelably. He brought his ears closer to the chest of Typhoon. His heartbeat sounded faint. So weak. Even his breath was barely felt.

"How's it?" Tanya Hali was unable to hide her fear.

"We need to get her to the hospital immediately. Damnit damnit! Where's the ambulance I asked for? Call them!" Khai shouted at a group of police who had just been silent to observe.

They flinched and instantly called an ambulance that was standing guard outside.

"Medical come, give way!"

A loud siren ambulance splits the night city. The crowded streets, momentarily deserted, allowed the white car to carry a struggling soul on the borders of the world.

Through midnight...

Everyone was tired, but sleepiness never whipped. Defeated by fear and worry, keeps them awake.

There they were, 6 hours sitting waiting without certainty. It felt like centuries were waiting for a bright red change in the whitewashed door.

Hali didn't really understand, no one came out of the room to explain what happened to his sister.

His heart, mind, soul, everything was in turmoil. He wanted to cry just to relieve his feelings that were crowded from earlier, but his tears seemed reluctant to drip.

He was just pensive, his mind was in a mess. If Khai had been a little late, Hali might have ended up in there. Lucky when he was about to leave earlier, he had crossed paths with Khai and told him to report to the police with the evidence on Hali's phone. It just so happened that his father's family worked in the police, making it easier for him to make reports.

His mind continued to pray for the good of Typhoon. He will demand God if his long wait ends in loss. But he could not deny his biggest fear is to lose the ignorant figure. The figure that makes him opiate will be the laughter that he spread.

On the other hand, Khai who was waiting just went along mutely. Letting the silence of the night reign between them though does not make it comfortable. He knows, the psychological brothers are being shaken and he does not want to make things worse.

He knew the situation of the Typhoon was not good at all. Even in the worst case scenario, his life could not be saved. But there's no way he's gonna destroy his best friend's hopes. However, he continued to pray for the best for the Typhoon that was struggling in there.

Beside him, Ken just lowered his head. Her face is sad. The fingers are clinging to each other down there. Strengthen each other. Maybe occasionally he glanced at his brother who was sitting across. There was no dialogue after that. He sank again with his mind as confused as Hali.

Khai who saw that then grabbed his hand. It brings the warmth that he has. Ken was scared, and he knew it. But no one can give him peace. Even Hali himself as the only pedestal of Ken was also unable to master himself.

"The storm must be fine." Khai said calmly Ken raised his gaze, looked at Khai's pair of red irises, then gave a small nod.

The feeling of guilt piled up until his chest tightened beyond measure. If something bad happens to the Typhoon, he will not be able to forgive himself.

Not long after, the operating room lights went out followed by a middle-aged man who came out.

"Can I talk to a patient's brother or guardian?"

"I'm her brother!" Sahut Hali fast.

The doctor seemed hesitant, but seeing the look on Hali's face shrouded in deep worry, he finally opened his voice. Started with a long breath, as if not a good thing to say.

"I'm sorry before, and hope you listen to my explanation calmly." The man paused his sentence, boldly staring at a pair of Hali ruby beads.

"Trauma his chest is very bad. He had a respiratory failure and his heart had stopped for a while due to the hard impact on his chest. Luckily we were able to restore his heartbeat despite his weakness."

Just by hearing the doctor's slight explanation it had already made his body freeze.

The doctor continued. "Some of his ribs were broken, though not to the point of damaging his thighs. But his pneumonia made his lung condition worse. In addition, there is also internal bleeding in the area. around the chest and abdomen, so we remove it before clumping and interfere with the performance of other organs. Currently he has passed the critical period, the operation is also going well and will be transferred to the ICU room. But.."

"But what doc?" Asked the red irised young man impatiently.

"I'm so sorry to say this. But the chances of Typhoon's brother to recover are very small with the injuries he's been through. Moreover, I am worried about his condition post-surgery."

"We've done what we could but the chest injury is very bad. He may not be conscious for an undetermined time."

"Doctor mean?"

"He's in a coma."

Instantly, Hali felt that time had completely stopped for her. Her tears that had been so haughty finally burst. He was unable to withstand the pressure of tears accompanied by a sense of tremendous tightness that hit his chest.

For the first time after hearing the news of his parents' accident, he again felt a great fear. Fear of being abandoned by his loved ones.

As for Ken, the news of Typhoon's coma felt like a great blow that destroyed his defense. No stuffing, just a creek that falls down the cheek. The guilt grew so much that it made his heart feel like it was being crushed firmly.

Ken fell down, his fingers clutching the collar of his shabby uniform. His breath gasped, occasionally he hit his chest which seemed to be crushed by a large rock. Suddenly he forgot how to breathe. The air seemed unwilling to enter his breathing, perhaps it was a punishment for him.

His vision blurred, along with the sensation of pain that attacked his heart, followed by a great dizziness that suddenly alighted, crawling every inch of his head. Black is the only color he can see.

Even the loud cries of Hali and Khai calling out his name had no power to pull him to the surface. He was bound together with all the guilt that sank him to the bottom of the pit of regret.

Because I..

It's all my fault..

Often we beg the universe to turn back time...

When the regret comes...
