CURTAINS OF THE PAST

CURTAINS OF THE PAST
GRANDMA'S GIFT NECKLACE

“Are you tired, baby?” Toni asked as she gently rubbed the head of Iffah who was in her arms that night.

Toni and her family have been staying in the village for the past two nights, and they arrived back at the Zulherman residence this afternoon. That night, Toni sits on her bed holding the Iffah

leaning against the chest of his field.

“I never get tired of being with you, let alone meeting Milka. Hmmm... Horizon is also very adorable..” Reveal Iffah so anxiously.

“Thanks dear...” Toni kissed the head of Iffah close to her chin at that time.

“You always thank me for even the little things.” Said Iffah flat.

“Because no sincerity will be countered with anything other than thank you.” Whisper Toni in his wife's ear.

A moment Toni confirmed her position. “There's been so much you've been through living with me, baby. And there's nothing I've given you yet.” Toni said bitterly.

“I no longer want anything, because living with you alone is such a great gift from God to me. And I don't even know what else to thank Him for. She was so good to me.” Iffah looked at her husband's bitter face. Then rubbed gently on Toni's cheek with her smooth palm.

“Oh yes, there is something I have forgotten dear.” Toni got up from her bed and stepped into the closet at the end of her room. Iffah just looked at her husband with a confused look on his face mixed with curiosity in his mind.

Not long after, Toni returned with a jewelry box that she took from the closet drawer.

“I should have given it from before to you, dear.” Toni with a bad face.

“What is it?” Iffah asked as she stared fixedly at the box in her husband's grasp.

“Because you managed to answer the guesswork of Grandma back then, so grandma gave you this gift. Grandma left it to me in the morning, before our wedding. Morning before he left. Even he asked me to give it to you for fear of not having time then. And in the end, that is the reality.” Toni is back bitter. Sadness again drowned his face.

Iffah clasped Toni's hand, and provided warmth for her.” Didn't I remind you back then? You're the one advising me yourself, but to yourself the exception is.”

“I just remembered, baby. Grandma loved me so much, and Grandma gave me mom and dad too. And grandma also makes me dare to justify you. From grandma, I found a lot of love in my life.” Toni's eyes began to paw. But immediately on his banks by inhaling deeply the air around him at that moment.

Toni opened the box, and took out a necklace from it.

Iffah smiled as she nodded her head. He turned his body back on Toni.

Toni put a necklace from her Grandma to Iffah on his wife's neck.

“The necklace is good, for sure it is very expensive..” Iffah said with so much pleasure, but was unable to hide the feeling of arrogance on his face at that time.

“Which is very important, the necklace is so valuable to Grandma. And given it to you which is also so valuable in his life.” Iffah wrinkled her forehead not understanding her husband's words.

“This necklace is a gift for Grandma when Grandpa proposed to Grandma once.” Toni explained what her grandmother had said when she left the necklace to her.

Iffah was wide-eyed not to believe Toni's explanation.

“Yeah, means this necklace is really very valuable for Grandma.” Said Iffah. “Grandma sure is so special to grandpa, so grandpa gave this necklace to grandma.” Iffah was so moved to imagine it all.

“Yes, like Grandma made you so special to her. Whatever happens, stay with me baby.” Pinta Toni lirih while bringing Iffah into his arms again.

Iffah nodded, leaning her head against Toni's chest and taking comfort there.

Though ye have Allah pardoned me, yet thy name shall remain in my last prostration.  Because for some reason, I scare away every event today, which will only turn into a memory tomorrow.
