CURTAINS OF THE PAST

CURTAINS OF THE PAST
RECALLING

Jemari Iffah was never separated from Toni's grasp, he was still waiting anxiously beside the girl who had been in his edit.

“Wake up Iffah, we're all worried about you.” Toni held back her tears.

“Arjuna..” Iffah's thin lips move slowly to reveal the name of her late husband. Instantly, Toni's grip on Iffah's fingers slipped suddenly. His heart felt like it was being hit by a long pointed spear. It was painful, and painful for him.

Toni heard it, Toni heard clearly his wife again pronouncing the name Arjuna.

Don't let go of my hand, if I choose the wrong path later.

Iffah's request for morning was recalled by Toni. He immediately grabbed back the hands of Iffah that he had released.

“Arjuna...” Once again Iffah mentioned her late husband's name with a little more clarity.

Call his name, cry out until all the inhabitants of the heavens hear it. I don't care if Iffah, I'll hold your hand at any moment.~ Toni further strengthens her hand grip to Iffah fingers.

“Arjunaaa..” Iffah eyes wide open. His breathing roared violently, while his sweat poured profusely across the thin pores of his skin.

Iffah felt her hands so hot and wet. His eyes tried to look at his hands that seemed to be in someone's grasp. He brushed off the sincerity smile on his lips that was starting to dry and pale. “Arjun..” Quickly Iffah pulled her hand. He was so surprised when he turned his eyes towards the face of Toni who was about to greet him.

“A-You?” Iffah's eyes were round, her breathing was getting stifled, she tried to get up from her bed. Toni was no less surprised to see the reaction of Iffah so suddenly.

“Iffah calm down, it's me, Antonimu.” Toni tried to calm the frightened-looking Iffah.

“Arjunaaa.” Iffah seemed to ignore Toni's words. She raised her voice calling out the name of her deceased husband.

“Kak Iffah...” Ghali entered after hearing Iffah yelling to call Arjuna repeatedly.

“Ghali, thank goodness you're here, deck. Where's arjuna? What sister's husband, honey? Is he okay at the moment?.” Toni and Ghali are shocked to hear Iffah's back-to-back questions about his Arjun.

“Kakak... Sister already remembers everything?” Ghali still could not believe Iffah's reaction.

“What do you mean say brother remembers everything?. When did you forget? Sister is even still wearing sister's wedding dress at this time, dek.” Iffah. He looked puzzled at Ghali's reaction of being surprised to see him.

“Kakak. But not with brother Arjuna, but with Mr. Antoni.” Pointing Ghali towards Toni who was still silent at the behavior of Iffah who did not remember

their marriage at all.

“Did you just joke, Ghali? Sister is married only to Arjuna, a man whom she loves very much.” Iffah cried as if he did not accept what Ghali explained to him.

Like air, silently flying. That's how your love for me, Iffah, is secretly painful.~ Toni held onto her left chest , slowly she squeezed it so firmly. Clear liquid easily escaped from his eye fertilizers that began to moisten earlier. Crying over a woman who doesn't think about her feelings at all.

Ghali looked at Toni. He was about to explain back to Iffah, but was stopped when a doctor entered the room.

“Excuse me, Sir. Let me check the patient first.” The doctor asked himself.

“Good, Doc. Please.” Ghali left Iffah in the room with the doctor and was followed by Toni from behind.

*******

Iffah was still in shock after hearing the doctor's explanation to him.

Congratulations miss, you are completely recovered at this time. Even something bad is likely to be missed by you. You've rediscovered memories in your past that were lost.

“If you had an accident with Arjuna more than a year ago, where does Arjuna go now?.” Ask Iffah. His tears did not stop rolling from earlier thinking about the bad things that had happened in his life.

“Im sorry Ghali, Brother. Ghali was forced to hide all this from his older brother. Ghali just don't want sister why-why.” Ghali seemed to be sorry, but also helpless at that time.

“Ghali, replied brother. Arjuna, where is sister's husband?.” Iffah asked again in an increasingly trembling voice. He stared intently at Ghali's eyes and tried to trace the honesty from them.

“Kak Arjuna is not saved, Kak.” Iffah gaped at the words of Ghali which was very surprising to him. “ He lost a lot of blood, so he died after the accident.” Ghali again.

“Ah…. Hiks... That, that's not what Ghali really is? You were just kidding, weren't you? You don't speak the truth, dok.” She repeatedly questioned Ghali, hoping the news she had heard about her husband's death was not the real thing.

Ghali immediately hugged Iffah tightly into his arms. Iffah was increasingly shaken by Ghali's reaction to not lying at the time to him.
