Abby smiled when she saw the enthusiasm of the children when getting parcels and food. They were so obedient and courteous, even words of gratitude unceasingly came out of their mouths. Looks like, the housewife here teaches good manners. Abby was touched to see it.
The room was big enough to be so noisy because of the sound of children. Some were showing off the gifts they got to their friends, some were busy with various types of snacks in front of him, some were just silently watching their friends while hugging their parcels tightly. Maybe I was afraid someone would take it.
I don't know where Juna and Gara went. Abby didn't see the two men after the show finished twenty minutes ago. While Lina and Mira seemed to be at the back, helping the stewards who were preparing the grilled meat for everyone.
As his eyes were busy staring around, Abby accidentally saw a girl who was looking at him closely from the corner of the room. Unlike the others, the girl did not join anyone. Only alone with a face that should not be there. Is this really what Abby saw? the boy showed a bored and lazy look as if he was stuck with a stranger.
For a long time they looked at each other until the girl turned her face the other way. The tiny figure slowly rose up and exited the room, passing through the side door that directly led to the playground while carrying his parcel with origin.
Abby who saw that frowned, feeling astonished. But out of curiosity, the woman followed the child from a considerable distance. Abby saw her, the girl was sitting on a long bench made of wood. His two tiny legs that could not touch the ground were seen swinging. A soft hum that seemed to be a part of the children's song was heard in Abby's ears.
Not knowing what to do, Abby steps closer and takes her place next to the boy. The thing that made the girl turn her head but quickly looked towards the front again. Not interested in Abby.
"Why are you alone?" it was the only sentence that stopped by Abby's brain at the moment. What else could he say to a child?
"Because I want to." Answer the girl briefly. Although there was no lisp there, his voice was funny enough to be heard.
"Not playing with your friends?" ask Abby back.
The daughter was a little bit of a headache, "they're noisy, I don't like." Again he answered briefly, just like an adult who does not want to be disturbed when being alone.
"Do you want to be alone now? are you bothered by my arrival?" I don't know why Abby treated the girl like she was her age now
The girl shook her head, making the pigtails behind her sway. "No, sometimes I also want to talk to adults. But they all treated me the same as the other kids. I hate that." Obviously at length. That was enough to amaze Abby. He did not expect that the girl would talk much and explain in detail to him. When viewed from the outside, the child seems quite difficult to approach.
"You sound kind of picky." Abby said while watching the face of the girl who felt quite familiar. Abby snorted, why does she often meet familiar faces in this world? he was certain that they had never met before.
The girl did not reply, instead asking another thing, "what is the big brother holding this event?" now, a curious look was seen on that tiny face.
Abby nodded, "yes, it's me and my brother."
"Thank you, even if I don't like the crowd very much. But the other kids look happy. Especially when there is a lot of food." The daughter's timps with small pursed lips, "what is it to commemorate something?"
"Today is the anniversary of the passing of our parents, so we want to do something a little useful." If judging from her stature, it looks like this girl is eleven or twelve years old. Age enough to be able to respond to adult speech with simple thoughts.
"Why choose children?"
Abby hesitated to reply, "I heard, the prayers and wishes offered by the children will quickly come true. I just want both my parents to get some peace and happiness there."
"That's such a noble goal." The girl looked down, staring at the parcel she received after attending a prayer event together. "Is there good food in it?" ask in a small voice.
Slowly, the tiny hand opened the small ribbon cover that wrapped the parcel. His eyes were round funny when he saw something interesting in them. "Candy, I like candy." He looks more cheerful than before. "There are biscuits here too. I'd rather it."
"Are you liking sweet food?" Abby responds lightly. "Here, let me open it!"
The girl did not refuse, she immediately gave a packet of light brown food to Abby. "Please be careful when opening it, I don't like powdered biscuits."
Abby chuckles as she uncovers the food, "you sound like my mom, always telling me to be careful." He immediately gave it back when he had managed to open it, "this, eat it quietly!" her hands were raised to rub the child's gentle mane.
"What's your name?" Abby again asked as the little boy began to enjoy his meal.
The little head shook his head, "i don't know."
Abby's beautiful eyebrows shot up, perplexed by the answer. "You don't know?" how can anyone forget his own name?
The child did not immediately answer, the biscuit in his hand is so dear to miss. And Abby couldn't bother him, so she let it go.
Abby stared ahead at the small children beside her playing with an adult woman in a white-green uniform. They look happy with bright smiles and carefree faces.
When was the last time Abby saw such a sight? even in his old world, Abby was never really close to a child's environment filled with purity and tenderness. His life was so hard, dark and a little horrible. But he never regretted it because it was the path he took.
Unknowingly, Abby let out a tired sigh. Thinking of his complicated and unexpected life destiny. Who could have thought that he would be stranded in a foreign world without any preparation.
"It must be hard for Brother." The little girl beside him suddenly let out a voice. And Abby couldn't help but look around, even if just to pay attention.
Abby remained silent as the girl pointed at the necklace she was wearing with her index finger that left a crack of biscuit. "The necklace's bobble will fade with time." Said the boy, saying something Abby never thought of.
"What?" abby's throat felt choked, as well as the expression on her face that slowly noticed the seriousness. Though it could be that the girl said with origin because the children did have a high imagination, but why did Abby's heart immediately restless as if the speech came out of the mouth of an adult?
"Hopefully Big Brother can finish everything before the time that Big Brother has run out is not left."
