I feel so fresh today! It must be thanks to all that jogging!
At work, I adjust the controls that regulate humidity and temperature.
As the Kaleido leopards roamed around the area, I checked each tail to make sure they were healthy.
"If you want to breed, wouldn't a more natural environment be better for you?" I asked casually at a female Kaleido leopard that was roaming near me.
"What is the use of natural environment?" A voice surprised me.
"Whoa! Timo!" I turned around and found Timo looking at me with a cold look.
I didn't even hear him coming ...
"What surprised you? Are you sleeping? Are you talking in your sleep?" Ask Timo ketus.
"As if I could sleep standing up!"
How could this fellow always manage to get on my bad side so quickly?!
"I understand .. So you're really serious about what you said just now?"
"You mean a more natural environment? Of course I'm serious..."
"Heah... Do you know what we're here for?" Timo sighed in annoyance and shook his head.
"To help the Kaleido leopard breed." I answered the question.
"Absolutely. And we need it to happen because of their lack of numbers." Timo crossed his arms behind his back and looked at me.
Goody. Started one of Timo's lectures...
"They're endangered because they're a dying species. It's obvious, because poaching is a major contributor to that."
"With the security of the hunters we provide, one would assume their numbers would increase."
"But let me ask you this ... Are they increasing or not?" Timo ended it with another question.
"No... Every year, they are less and less..." I answer based on the facts.
"So this way, there's no way this neighborhood is to blame for their setbacks." Timo continued again.
"I know what you want to say, but ..." I'm trying to refute it.
"What good is the natural environment if they reproduce very little in the wild?" Timo insisted.
"Then what do you think should be done?" I asked him.
"Artificial dissemination, of course." Timo replied seriously.
"I'm against that. I knew it worked before, but it put too much pressure on the animals instead. Our job is not just to increase their numbers, but to give them a future. We cannot say we have done well if they cannot survive without our intervention. What you suggest is simply forcing our own ego! Proving they can't exist without us!" I expressly express my opinion.
"Because humans have learned to keep animals. Kaleido leopards may be more special, but they are all the same as cats and dogs. We raise them, feed them, and train them only for our own pleasure." Timo said casually.
"Maybe, but we don't have to be like everyone else!" I don't know why I got upset.
"We are not doing this to display the Kaleido Leopard at the exhibition or anything else. We do this so that one day, they can return to the wild. That's why I think we need to create a natural environment and figure out what the real problem is. That's what we're here for, isn't it?" My next.
"It's not about my dad. This is my personal opinion as a scientist."
"I'll give your opinion to my supervisor." Timo opened his hand from behind and touched his jaw seriously.
"Please do.." I asked.
I'll have to do better in dealing with Timo if I'm going to finish anything here...
"I just remembered... Do you know about the animal shelter groups that come and go to our facilities?" Ask Timo.
"I haven't spoken to them personally, but I know they bring animals that need help..." My answer.
"Well, one of those animal shelters is suing a big pharmaceutical company." Timo.
"Why did they do that?" Askaqua.
"It seems, they are taking animals from shelters to be reared under their own care. There's a rumor that they use it just for experimentation." Answer Timo.
"If that's true, it's terrible!" I gasp.
"That's just a rumor for now, but they have also paid a bribe. Whatever they do, it's not good." Timo.
"Well, I'm glad someone's trying to stop them."
I will never forgive anyone who treats such an animal!
"But in the end, they are used to our advantage... It is only through experimentation that new drugs for humans and animals can be discovered. Shelters do what they can, but many animals have trouble finding a home. If no one takes them, they will be sent to research and educational institutions for experimental purposes." Timo's statement really surprised me.
"That's impossible..." I covered my face in frustration.
"If you ask me . or rather, if you ask animals ... It's all the same for them. In the end they are only used for human needs as well." Timo finished talking and left in a hurry.
His words did sound very harsh, but what he said might have a point.
Even with endangered species, are we saving them because that's what we want?
Will this path I take help the beast I so desperately want to save?
Is my goal here really what I want?
That day I continued my work with a raging mind.
I did some research on the breeding of the Kaleido Leopard. I need to figure out a way out of this.
I also collected some data on the animal shelter in Kaleido. I plan to interview them later.
In the future we can work well together.
I have a lot of files to check, but it's late in the afternoon. I think this job should be brought home.
I tidied up all the documents that were strewn across my desk. And rushed back to the apartment.
After cleaning myself and having dinner, I continued my work late into the night.
