Episode 2

At night...

Apparently a welcoming party will be held for me.

I was told to wait outside my room for someone to come pick me up.

"I came to get you." A young man wearing a kimono appeared before me.

"Hey, Naoki. At least introduce yourself first." A face I knew peeked out from beside him.

"Are you Carlo Mazza, that famous chef?"

"Oh, you know about me?"

"My mom loves your show, Mr. Mazza. He's always watching it."

"It's good to hear it."

"This person is Naoki. Forgive him for lacking manners."

"Nooki Hozumi's. I live next door. And I'm very capable of speaking, thank you very much."

"I'm Julia Darwin. It's good to see you both."

"The pleasure belongs to all of us. Now, everyone is waiting for you, so let's go!"

The courtyard even has a swimming pool, which is surrounded by tables and bar tables.

"Okay everyone, our guest of honor is here!"

As Carlo called out, everyone in the courtyard focused their attention on me.

I recognize the faces of everyone there.

The man who took my passport at the airport!

"Me, Ryan Gray."

"Thank you for that one. I'm Julia."

"Hey Ryan, the pasta there was made by the chef from Carlo's restaurant!"

He's the one who laughed at me at the airport!

"Hey Cody, that's not polite, is it?"

"Call Cody just."

"I'm Joy Olivier, stylist."

Just then, another face I knew peeked over from next to him.

"Miguel Hernandez?!"

"It's nice to meet you, Julia."

After shaking his hand, another man appeared.

"So, you're the rumored Julia, yeah."

He's a lawyer who's on a giant monitor at the airport, Nolan Zarek.

"rumored? So you already know about me?"

"Julia Darwin's. You have a degree in biology and veterinary medicine and your father was a famous veterinarian."

"You received an offer to work at the Kaleido National Animal Institute as part of wildlife management, right?"

D-he's exactly right!

As he said, I came to Kaleido because I was going to work on the conservation of endangered species.

If I could save just one animal, I would fulfill my life mission ...!

After thinking about it, Carlo and Naoki started talking to me again.

"That's so cool, Julia." Carlo praised. "By the way, it must be difficult because you're new here, so just ask if you have any questions while you're adapting."

"Yes, don't be embarrassed. After all, everyone here is very friendly." Naoki.

"By the way..." With a mischievous smile, Joy got closer.

"Armgh!!" Miguel picked up Joy and threw her into the pool.

"Ughh! Feel this!" Joy doused water on Miguel. They reply to each other for a few moments.

Joy pretends to give up and grabs her hand from the pool, only to pull Miguel with her.

"Not anymore." complained Cody.

"It looks like they're doing it again." Nolan doesn't seem to care.

As if they had seen this scene a million times before, these tenants were in no hurry to help Joy, instead laughing at her.

"Pretty fun, isn't it?" Ryan brought me another drink, he shrugged with a bitter smile on his face.

"Yes, it doesn't seem like there's going to be a dull moment here!"

As I drank, my heart was pounding with excitement waiting for what was to come in my new life in Kaleido.
