Twisted Love's
Episode 5's

When we reached Nolan's room, Miguel knocked his knuckles to the door.

He turned the door knob and entered without waiting for Nolan to respond.

"Have you waited a long time, Nolan?"

"What took you so long? Are you lost?" Nolan protested from inside his room which for one person is very large even worthy of being called a palace.

"You're very angry. Are you sure you're getting enough calcium in your diet?" Miguel walked into Nolan's room as if it was his own.

"Excuse me..." Even though he took a quick glance at my face, Nolan did not say anything to me.

"Yes, Nolan? Thanks for inviting me."

"I didn't invite you. It was Miguel's idea."

"Huh?" I'm rattled.

"Oh, really?" Miguel found a seat near the table while Nolan glared at him.

Who of them is telling the truth?

"That's not important. More people are getting more, right?"

"This guy..." Nolan shook his head while nimbly cutting the card deck.

“I'll start as a dealer. Anybody mind?"

"Nothing is." Answer Miguel casually.

"I don't really know the rules, so I'll just follow them."

"What?!" Nolan was shocked to hear my statement.

Oops! Did I make him mad by coming to play without knowing anything?

Frightened, I wrapped my hands around my body. Then, Nolan handed him a piece of paper.

"All the rules are written there."

"Oh! ...Thanks."

Come to think of it, she's probably better than I thought ...

"What are we going to put down today, Nolan?" Ask Miguel.

"T-Bet?!"

"It would be more fun if something was won, right?"

Miguel is an athlete. He certainly likes competition ...

"I-I didn't know we were going to bet!"

I don't have much money to play with.

"Calm down, it's not what you think it is. This is gonna be our chip." Nolan spelled out boxes of chocolate made by famous makers.

"Chocolate?" He then pushed each of the five boxes towards me and Miguel.

Thank goodness it's not money, but these boxes don't look cheap either ...

"I have a lot of this stuff. Each box contains a dozen, so use that to place your bet."

"What if we start?" Miguel looked impatient.

"Come on." Nolan calmly handed out the cards to everyone and I took mine that was dealt from the table.

Hm...

I looked at my card and compared it to the instruction sheet Nolan gave me.

I think I should replace these two cards?

"Hurry along. If you don't like your cards, just close them."

"Wait a minute..."

"I want to take one more card." Miguel closed one of his cards.

Nolan floated a new card across the table.

Really Poker Face! Nolan may be undefeated in this game because he's a lawyer ...

But then, a while after I thought about my own card ...

"I won again."

"Hmph...!" As the chocolate mountain grew in front of Miguel, Nolan's poker face shattered.

"I was surprised at how great you are at playing poker!"

"I'm not great ... But blackjack, hearts just mention the game. I won't lose to Nolan."

"You're just lucky. My strategy has always been flawless." Nolan grumbling.

"Lucky enough! He wiped everything clean!" I'm amazed.

"Great players make their own luck." Miguel started to boast.

"Gmr ... We'll see how you do it this time!" Nolan cut the deck in frustration.

Hehe. Nolan always looks very calm on TV, but seeing the two interact like this is so much fun!

"How can you two be friends?" Given how different their respective fields were, I felt the need to ask, I was very curious.

"What was that?"

They replied nonchalantly, their eyes focused only on the cards.

Hm ... Both must be stubborn.

"Are you guys suddenly friends, right?

"I forgot." They answered in unison stopping me from finding out more about their lives.

"Hmmm..."

Are all men like this? Or are they both too embarrassed to say so?

Without a second thought, I threw three cards and took a new one.

"Gr! Once again! All or nothing!" Although Nolan only had two chocolate grains left.

Nolan certainly doesn't want to lose. He pouted like a child. Very funny ...

"Pff... Hehe..."

"What are you laughing at?!" Nolan got even more upset when I couldn't hold back my laughter.

"He's irritable, right?"

"Huh? Oh, yes..." I agree with Miguel with all my heart.

"Julia ... Put everything you got, okay?" Pinta Nolan's.

"OKAY.." We all stacked all the chocolate in the middle of the table.

Even so, risking everything on the spot is a poker sensation!

Even though he had already lost heavily, Nolan still shuffled his cards in earnest.

"Can the famous Mr Zarek beat me to a miraculous 100th victory?"

"Shut up!" Nolan kept shuffling the cards, ignoring the temptation from Miguel.

"Don't even think about it, I'll let you beat me." Miguel bluffs.

"I heard on the news .. how Nolan had so many impossible cases that he miraculously won." I'm curious.

"It's not about the number of wins but they all happen in a row without missing a single one." Miguel explained.

"What?! You mean he won 99 in a row?!"

"I'm just taking cases that I can win. As simple as that."

"It is this man who defends cases that others have even avoided."

Waw... Nolan is an impressive lawyer, more than I thought.

"So, what's your next case?" Ask Miguel.

"You always don't comment on everything." Miguel was upset by Nolan's attitude.

"Media is in a storm because of you. The next one you have to choose wisely, huh?" Miguel was worried about his friend.

"Media opinion means nothing to me. I'll take an easy case for me, and it won't be long." Nolan spoke flatly, a firm tone entering his voice.

"That's it..." Miguel

What does he mean by the case that m**already?

His choice of words hung in my mind.

Maybe Nolan's job is like poker - taking the cards he likes and discarding the others.

"I keep my cards." Miguel said that while looking deeply into his hands.

"What?!" Nolan surprised. In the end, Miguel earned a Straight Flush and won every last brown grain.

"With this, I'll have extra calories to help me get through my training later."

"You are so great! Looks like all these cards are your slaves." I praised Miguel with amazement.

"Seriously. I'm glad you're not a lawyer. I'm sick of your miracles." A faint smile flashed across Nolan's face as the match ended in Miguel's victory.

Although he appeared to be very angry during the game, Nolan actually admitted Miguel ...

"And I'm also glad you're not a swimmer."

"Why is that?" I was confused by Miguel's words.

"The miracles he produced were the result of hard work and dedication."

"He will do anything to win, refuse to give up, which is very unlikely for anyone else to do." Miguel spoke with a flat face while glancing at Nolan.

"That's it..."

“Enough for tonight. Next time, I'll win. Just wait." Nolan finished the game.

After saying good night to Nolan, Miguel and I headed to our own room.

"So it was fun! It's been a long time since I last played cards."

"It's just a warm-up, so keep it going. Hey, give me your hand." Miguel gave me the chocolate from his victory.

"Thank you! I honestly really want to eat it! Is this delicious? I've never eaten this before, but I know it's very famous of course it must taste really delicious!" I'm excited about Miguel's chocolate.

"Then I can't wait to try some later after the practice tomorrow morning."

He's not gonna eat it tonight? I think this is what a strict diet of an athlete means...

Actually I want to eat it as soon as I get back, but I better not. It would be a part of my stomach if I ate it before going to bed.

"Are you training every morning, Miguel?"

"Yes, my body will hurt if it doesn't."

"By the way, do you want to go jogging with me, Julia?"

"I? B-But I'm so slow, you should probably walk instead of running!"

"No problem. Sometimes change is good."

"I just need to take a relaxing jog in the morning and hit the pool hard later."

"In addition, it will wake you up. I heard from Nolan you were feeling groggy this morning."

The nolan? I thought he was reading a newspaper! He listened apparently?!

"Maybe I should. If I have to go somewhere, I can get up easier."

"Good, then done. Meet me near the entrance at seven tomorrow."

"If you don't show up, I'll drag you out of bed."

"Okay, Deal!"

So, my second night at Lilac Court ended with an appointment to train with Miguel in the morning.
