Episode 36's

"Lawyers fight for their clients, but Impartial Officers fight for justice for everyone living in Kaleido."

"Not only do they have to pass the admission exam, but they have to be chosen by the public to maintain their position as an Imparsial Officer."

"So he thought that I had slandered Professor Wright .. They considered him a hero in this country."

“Everyone can make mistakes. Even for an Ike Barnes without exception, you don't have to worry." Nolan wrapped his hands around my shoulders and gently stroked my hair.

Nolan really trusted me.

I can only get through this difficult situation right now just because I have her beside me. If he's not here for me, who knows what will happen to me.

Suddenly, there was a loud knock on Nolan's door.

"Hey, Nolan. Julia! Turn on TV. Hurry along!"

"What's up, Joy? You look upset." Nolan asked puzzled to see Joy who immediately pushed inside shortly after opening the door.

“Did you not watch TV at all?! Impartial Officer Ike Barnes just declared war on you, Nolan!" Shouted Joy annoyed.

"What did you say ...?!" Nolan was surprised

"Why would Ike Barnes want to challenge Nolan?" Ask wonder.

Nolan and I looked at each other.  Then I quickly turned on the TV.

"So, I'm gonna sue Julia Darwin." As soon as the TV was on, I heard my name called, and instantly my heart was beating fast. As I staggered in fear, Nolan hugged me tightly.

"No matter how proud he is as a researcher, he should be treated fairly under the law." Looks like Ike was being interviewed by some kind of news event. The entire studio was in a frenzy.

"Even though she is the boyfriend of a genius lawyer. Are you unwilling to accept my challenge, Mr Zarek? To fight for the honor of your beloved, Julia Darwin?" Ike smiled mockingly facing the camera that took his picture close up.

"He really likes to mix things up, huh?" Nolan said scowling.

“Isn't this important. I think I'll take the challenge." Nolan said as he continued to stare intently at Ike Barnes who was on the TV program.

"Wait, Nolan. If you involve yourself in this matter, wouldn't you—" I'd like to refute Nolan's words, but he stopped me.

"He's even challenged me in public, now I have more reasons to defend you. If the public attention is diverted to the fight between me and Ike, it might be able to reduce the press pressure on you, I don't want you to mind too much."

"Thank you, Nolan." Nolan tried to protect me with everything he had.

I am so lucky to have a reliable boyfriend!

I was happy to know that Nolan cared so much for me, that I might even explode right now, but I suddenly remembered what happened this afternoon.

If Nolan defends me, and takes most of the scandal, then I won't be able to deny Ike's accusations leveled at me this afternoon, he already assumes I've been hiding behind Nolan.

Doesn't that mean I'm just going to give up all responsibility on Nolan?

I began to worry again if I might not be entitled to be a partner for the rest of his life.

"You, at this rate, is it really good for me to rely entirely on you Nolan? Without doing anything of my own accord."

"Don't worry about such trivial things. For now, just focus on the thing that's before you right now." Nolan spoke out firmly.

"Ike Barnes is a skilled Imparsial Officer. He won every case he took to court. In other words, every person he prosecuted has been found guilty."

"What!?" Blood flowed from my face.

"I didn't mean to make you nervous. But I'm telling you this so you can think of relying on me, without being stubborn about it." Nolan placed both his hands on my shoulders and looked at me seriously. "I'll protect your good name."

"Thank you, Nolan." Suddenly my eyes were wet with tears. I could feel his love clearly, and it almost hurt.

Nolan believed in me, and sincerely supported me, so I had to fight with everything I had in court later.

I won't think of things like whether I'm fit to be his lifelong partner again* ...

"I also want to eliminate all this misunderstanding. Besides, I never said anything wrong." I said with firm conviction.

"of course. I trust you.  That's exactly why I'm gonna win this case for you, no matter how hard it gets." Nolan nodded deeply and kissed me.

As I made preparations to attend the trial, it did not feel like the fateful day had arrived quickly.

First day. 

Today was the first time I stood in court as a defendant.

*This is the first time in my life. I can't believe this is happening.

I never even imagined this would happen after returning from the award ceremony*.

This situation is so crazy, it doesn't even feel real. Sweaty hands.  I felt like I was floating, as if I was walking on a cloud.

Oh no, if this continues, I won't be able to answer questions in court ...

"Miss Darwin." Hearing Nolan call my name instantly made me realize, and took me out of my increasingly negative thoughts. Nolan looked at me from the lawyer's seat.

When we made eye contact, he nodded at me. Seeing her calm face quickly calmed me down as well.

"Well, Impartial Officer Barnes, please file your charges against Miss Darwin." The judge began the trial by knocking on his hammer.

"good. Miss Darwin here is spreading the idea that Professor Wright's research is wrong, and that she is also basing all hypotheses on something engineered. As a result, Professor Wright's grieving family continued to be mired in the press, to the point of making his wife fall ill.Therefore, here I help his wife to seek public apology from Miss Darwin, along with her compensation." Ike straightforwardly filed his charges against me.

"So you claim that Miss Darwin ruined Professor Wright's good name?" Ask Judge.

"That's exactly. Moreover, Professor Wright has passed away, and cannot deny Darwin's statement. This is so unfair." Ike continued.

"It is natural for a researcher to examine the results of his predecessor's research!" I instinctively rejected what Ike said. "Even if the person who wrote the article has died!"

"So it seems like you're not only writing articles, but also going around saying anything to defame her, right?  Or am I wrong?" Ask Ike.

"I didn't say anything at will. All I did was give a speech at the awards ceremony and answer questions during the interview ..." I'm still trying to refute Ike's statement.

"Miss Darwin, I'm with you."

I was on the verge of emotions, but Nolan's words managed to pull me back.

What have I done? I can't even help but argue.

It seems Nolan doesn't blame me. She smiled to help calm me down.
