The Wasted Bride

The Wasted Bride
Heartache

Drrt... Drrt...

Aldair glanced at his cell phone that was on the caffe table. He had just finished meeting the person who wanted to join him.

Next to his hand clenched as he read his sister's name was plastered on the phone screen. At least he can guess what his brother will say, even so he still lift.

"Assalamu'alaikum."

"Wa'alaikumsalam's chat. What's up Ka?"

"Where are you?"

"Caffe D'Claire's. Why?"

Aldair leaned his back trying to calm the hot turmoil in the heart of the worst possible reason his sister called.

"nothing. Will you sleep in Arwaa's apartment tonight?"

Aldair paused for a moment, "No."

"Then you stay at a hotel near there. I'll catch up."

"Aren't you going to come here?" Aldair asked unsettled.

He knew what his brother would do if he came here after overhearing a conversation Mom and Dad had on the phone saying that his sister was going to propose to Arwaa.

Goddamnit!

Aldair slightly kicked the small leg of the table, venting his frustration. I don't know if he feels betrayed by his own family.

"Yes. There's something you want to talk to me about."

"Alright then, I'll wait. Assalamu'alaikum" Aldair said, hanging up unilaterally.

He took a heavy breath and ruffled his hair to attract the attention of some customers in the cafe. Even so Aldair did not care, he immediately went away after paying for his food.

In the car Aldair turned on his cell phone and searched for the contact name of his ex-wife, Arwaa. Taped his phone to his ear after he pressed the calling button.

"Assalamu'alaikum."

Aldair closed his eyes for a moment. Hearing Arwaa's voice made her miss the girl immediately. They just met this morning.

"Wa'alaikumsalam's chat. Where are you at?"

"Still on campus. What was? Are Mom and Hanna okay?"

A smile on Aldair's face. Look at the girl is so attentive to her family that there is no bond between them.

"It's nothing. They're doing just fine. I just want to make sure you get home at what time, if I can I want to see you outside. There's something Mas wants to talk about," Aldair explained, making the recipient of the phone not answer immediately.

"Hm... I'll be home soon. If Mas wants to talk outside, Mas just wait in the park near my apartment building. I'll be there as soon as I get home."

"Don't I have to pick you up?" Ask Aldair ambiguously. He just wanted to spend a longer time alone with that ex-wife.

"No need to. I promised I'd go home with Grace. Thanks."

Little disappointed. Even so Aldair still accepted it.

"All right then. I'll wait right there. Assalamu'alaikum."

"Wa'alaikumsalam Mas Hotel. Fi amanillah."

Aldair looked up for a moment because he did not understand the last words Arwaa said. But then he smiled again, and started his car.

***

"Assalamu'alaikum Mas's. Sorry long."

Well that's true, but Arwaa has other reasons too. That is to avoid Marius who just called Grace if she was already in Grace's apartment and wanted to meet with Arwaa.

"No problem. Sit down first, and this," Aldair thrusting the juice of the cotage at Arwaa.

"Thank you" said Arwaa and immediately sat in the garden chair with a little distance.

"No problem" Aldair smiled, he understood, so he was no longer offended.

"What are you talking about?" Arwaa asked as soon as she finished the juice Aldair gave making Aldair smile amusedly. He never thought that his ex-wife could be this big.

But at once his countenance became serious once he remembered the main purpose of inviting Arwaa to meet, "This is about my Brother," briefly. Aldair deliberately because he wanted to see Arwaa's response.

His lips were slightly turned back, but his gaze was nimble as soon as he saw the tension on Arwaa's face. Aldair breathed his breath.

"My brother wants to propose to you. You know that?"

Silent moment. Aldair looked at Arwaa who was looking down.

"Hmm," muttered Arwaa in response.

"What... You're gonna take it?"

Slowly Arwaa raised his head and looked at Aldair who had not distracted him from Arwaa.

"Hmm," once again Arwaa just muttered.

"Oh, are you serious? How's me?" Tanya Aldair chuckled in slices.

"What's the matter?"

Aldair was slightly dumbfounded by Arwaa's question. He looked at his ex-wife.

"I'm your ex-husband."

"Then?"

Silence moment. Aldair and Arwaa just looked at each other with eyes that radiated each other's feelings.

"No sympathy for me? He's my brother and you want to marry him. What about me who every day has to witness your happiness?" Aldair parau. His eyes began to dew, but he could stand it. Not wanting to cry in front of Arwaa.

"What about you, Mom? Is there no sympathy for me? Can't I be happy? Can't I feel love? What about me who when I was your wife had to witness your happiness with another woman? Didn't you think about that. Why are you still so selfish."

Arwaa's tears began to drip. She could not believe that her ex-husband was still so selfish. Arwaa herself never thought of getting revenge, even to the point of having to use her ex-husband's own brother.

But his heart can't be lied to anymore. Arwaa was already thinking about accepting Attalaric's proposal because of the warm feelings that continued to surround her heart every Arwaa thought about the brother of her ex-husband.

"Aren't there any more chances for me, Arwaa?" Lirih Aldair stared at the full please make Arwaa's heart more hurt because of feelings of guilt. Although Arwaa knew what Aldair was currently feeling was not his fault at all.

"Then, my race to you was like rain. Plentifully. But I forgot, as hard as the rain. It will also subside. Especially when it didn't want rain."

Arwaa smiled gently despite the sadness emanating from her net.

"I'm sorry. Like a broken glass. Although put back together, it still looks damaged. So did my heart that had already been destroyed. There is no possibility of returning, but it will no longer be the way it was. I just don't want to keep thinking about all of what Mas did. Even if we get back together, I fear not the blessing we can get, but only sin because there will always be a feeling of unworthiness in this heart. I'm sorry, sorry,"

"Even if to be honest, the bad memories that Mas gave me up until now have always been haunting, scaring me to re-establish stories. I just want to escape this unwarranted sadness. I just want to be happy."

Arwaa looked down again. His hands did not stop wiping away the tears that ran down his cheeks. Aldair felt his heart ache when he heard Arwaa's words. That's how badly he hurt Arwaa.

Oh Allah... Oh Allah... Oh Allah...

Aldair tried to strengthen his heart. Seeing Arwaa like this actually made him even more sick. Aldair finally realized, as strong as it was grasped, if not his destiny would be missed.

Maybe it's better than being hurt.
