The Wasted Bride

The hour hand shows exactly at 12 pm, where people should sleep in their dreams. But not with Aldair, although his body and soul felt so tired he could not close his eyes at all. It was all because of the figure of the woman who was sleeping comfortably beside him. Aldair wondered how Arwaa had fallen asleep so soundly with her beside him. Doesn't his wife feel embarrassed or nervous.

"Yes..."

I don't know how many times Aldair sighed today. The face of the wife who was asleep.

Arwaa Kemuning Bhurri, who was his wife for almost two years, ignored his presence. The figure that gave a lot of surprises to Aldair these two days.

He recalled what happened a few hours ago. When he finished eating the dinner that had been provided by his wife, he admitted that his wife's cooking was delicious and fitting in his mouth.

He went to the main room with the intention to clean himself up and rest. How surprised he was when he opened the door of the room and saw Arwaa without wearing a hijab. Yes, it was the first time Aldair had seen his wife's crown. He was stunned by Arwaa, because the figure was very beautiful and sweet. With her black hair and blue eyes, Arwaa has an unusual charm.

"Why stand there. Come in here, not to take a shower?" Tanya Arwaa looked at her confused husband for a moment before continuing to put Aldair's clothes into the closet.

" Your eyes..." Aldair murmured softly but heard by Arwaa made him stop his work and walk towards her husband who was still silent at the door.

"Well in first, keep showering, we're talking." Arwaa said with a gentle smile, pulling Aldair's hand.

"Wand me, I've prepared the water." Arwaa continued while giving a towel and a change of clothes for her husband. Aldair remained silent but obeyed what Arwaa said.

Aldair finished cleaning himself and came out of the bathroom with the clothes his wife had given him. He saw Arwaa had also changed her clothes with a long-sleeved sleeping dress and was wearing facial skin care on her makeup desk.

Arwaa realized Aldair who was looking at him, he also accelerated his activities. She turned her head to her husband and walked towards him.

"Come here." Take Arwaa to pull Aldair's hand towards the bed.

Aldair remained silent even though they were already sitting on the bed. He looked at Arwaa's blue eyes which attracted his attention.

"What a weird eye?" Tanya Arwaa awakens Aldair from the charm of the wife.

"Eh... You use softlens?" Ask Aldair to make sure. Arwaa smiles.

"Yes the item." Arwaa's reply made Aldair frown. Arwaa chuckled small.

"This is my real eye. Usually I use contact lenses when I go out of the house and sleep well I loose." Obviously Arwaa but Aldair still seemed unsure of the answer.

"Aren't you a village?" Aldair asked involuntarily but immediately apologized.

"I'm sorry I mean..." Not yet Aldair finished his speech, Arwaa chuckled amusedly.

"Hehe yes I understand, relax." Arwaa pulled Aldair's hand again and told him to lay his body on the bed.

"To sleep, I sleep." Arwaa smiled before resting her head on Aldair's arm and hugging him made the man freeze instantly.

"My mother's mother was a mixture of Canada and China mas, they met when my father worked as a TKI in China." Arwaa took the initiative to start telling me about herself.

"Dad said mom's parents did not agree with dad because he was just TKI while the mama from the family was." Arwaa continued, he was silent for a moment, suddenly missed the father.

"Not to mention my mother's different beliefs. But mama still stubbornly wants to marry me." Aldair remained silent, deciding to be a good listener without commenting.

"Short story eventually they got married even though mom had to be expelled by her family. Dad also brought mom back to Indonesia despite many obstacles, dad said dad still trying to fight for mom. Moreover, the mother who was new to Islam and foreign alike the habits of the community in the father's village at that time, often so the talk of people." Arwaa let out a long sigh, wanting Arwaa to cry while telling her life story, but seeing Aldair who did not respond to anything, she chose to hold back her tears.

"I was born after 8 months of my parents' marriage. And my mom died while I was mocking." Arwaa tightened her embrace on Aldair. Aldair could feel his wife's shoulders trembling slightly, his wife crying. Though hesitant, he returns Arwaa's embrace only to win her over.

"Since then it's just me and Dad. Although I sometimes blame myself for my mother's death, I always try to calm me down and say that everything that has happened is God's destiny."

"Father is very protective with me, especially I have eye color like mama that makes me different from other children in the village, not infrequently I mocked bule village with them. Even when I was high school, I was angry with my upperclassmen just because of the color of my eyes, he said I was a lot of style, still a child already using softlens. Huh." Arwaa snorted remembering that.

"Because that's why I decided to use softlens to look the same as others..." Long enough Aldair waiting for the continuation of the story of his wife's life but Arwaa never continued the story makes Aldair turn towards him and see Arwaa who turned out to be asleep.

Aldair looked at Arwaa's sleeping face for a moment before he let go of his wife's embrace and turned back to her.

"Sorry." Aldair said softly, he did not know if Arwaa had not fully fallen asleep, the woman could only smile wryly and look at her husband's back.

The melodious incantations of the Holy Quran greet the hearing of Aldair, making the man wake up from his sleep. His vision caught the figure of the wife who looks solemn reading the holy book of the Qur'an.

His voice was so melodious and gentle that it even Aldair was holding onto his chest as he felt his heart beating faster than usual. Not long ago he spent time with Arwaa but the woman was already able to make his heart restless with a warm feeling that suddenly appeared towards him.

But he soon awakened himself. It should not get carried away, besides their togetherness only for a few months until Fani gave birth. Ah... Fani, almost Aldair forgot the figure of the woman who was pregnant with her child. He really must be careful of the charm of Arwaa that can make him turn away from the lover of heart.

The sight of the wall clock showing at half 4am made Aldair sigh, meaning he only slept for a while, he thought.

Arwaa who realized her husband woke up immediately stopped his activities.

"I'm sorry you woke up because of me." Arwaa closed the holy book of the Qur'an and placed it on the dressing table.

"It's okay. Anyway I want to fast, you can ready to eat my sahur no?" Aldair's question made Arwaa pause for a moment before she displayed her warm smile.

"Yes, um." Although her heart ached Arwaa still decided to obey the orders of the husband without asking anything because she seemed to understand why her husband wanted to fast.
