First Session Therapy

"So there's a mother coming." They were on their way to the hospital to meet the first schedule of therapy.

"really?" Daryl focused on the traffic around him.

"Yes." Yeah."

"You what?"

"Just meet."

"Don't say anything?"

"No."

"You do something?"

Nania looked towards her husband.

"It usually does?" daryl said and he remembered what his in-laws had done.

"No."

"Thank God, I think there's something."

Nania clenched her mouth tightly. She knew her husband's dislike of her mother, and she understood. And nothing can be changed about that because Daryl is.

Then the man turned his car towards Nikolai Medical Center, and they immediately headed to the Citra Doctor's room.

"I assume that what you are experiencing is ideomotor dyspraxia. This is what causes you to be unable to do simple things like dress, tie shoelaces, and other light things." Doctor Citra gave a description.

"So different, huh?" Nania responds.

"Clearly different. There is an ideational dyspraxia which is an example of the symptoms in the form of not being able to brush your teeth or make your bed. There is also Oramotor dyspraxia that causes children to have difficulty speaking, or there is Constructional Dispraxia that makes it difficult for patients to understand waking up space. And based on what I saw in Mr. Daryl's situation, who was able to do a lot of things besides buttoning his shirt and tying his shoelaces, then we can conclude if your husband is one of the people with Ideomotor Dispraxia."

"Is the handling easy?" Nania turned her head towards the man who was busy with his phone on the other side of the room.

"It's not easy either because of his age, but there's a lot of work we can do to deal with that difficulty. At least to be lighter."

Nania was silent for a moment.

"What we have to set first is the emotion. Doesn't your husband have unstable emotions?"

"Yes. Is that the effect of his disclaimer?"

"Actually there is no connection, but it is indeed the most effect because some people with dyspraxia will experience abnormal emotional overflows due to frustration. And there are some patients who experience the neediness of it, which makes them choose to withdraw from the environment. Is Mr Daryl like that?"

"I don't remember." She looked at her husband again.

"He's even very confident. In fact, because of his confidence people sometimes think he is arrogant. Sometimes they are arrogant too. Haha."

"Ah, maybe this will be easier because we don't have to build her confidence first."

"He was just afraid his parents knew, and made them sad. My husband feels that he's stupid for this."

"Do you know how he performed in school?" The doctor kept on writing the evidence.

"From what I've seen he's champion in school. Math, science, martial arts. He's a taekwondo black belt, too. And about his ability I don't think there's anything he can do except wear the same shirt tie a shoelace, right?"

"This is what makes your husband's case so unique. Things that for others may be difficult, instead he can do easily. But what is for others is easy, it becomes difficult for him. And as for the parents, I think he's just afraid to disappoint. Because feeling what he's suffering from is embarrassing."

"Well, yes, Doctor."

"Maybe we have to change this mindset first so that in the future it is easy."

"How?"

"Sound."

"Sounding?"

"Remindicate that what he has is not a disgrace. This is common because not everyone is able to do everything. And it's not embarrassing either."

"That's hard."

"Easy. Patience origin. Facing people with dyspraxia must have more patience."

"The doctor doesn't know how hard I'm dealing with him."

"Then go on."

Nania nodded her head.

"Well we'll start with occupational therapy first to change his point of view. Feelings of inferiority, inferiority and shame for thinking that what he is suffering from is a disgrace must be eliminated."

"Good."

"Hey!! What the hell are you guys talking about? When does therapy begin? When do you want to keep talking?" Daryl opened his voice after waiting for a while.

"Not a conversation, but another consultation." Nania answered.

"And who wants my therapy, but why are you consulting? Isn't it wrong?"

"Will I take care of you?"

"What relation? Am I not the one to be healed? Why the fuck is it with you?"

"Sound you Doctor?" Nania turned to the doctor.

"Aren't you used to?" The woman in the white coat smiled, then she got up and walked over to her patient who was in the examination ward.

"Lacerate what? Is this a hotel?" Daryl answered the origin. He looked at the ceiling of the room to make her feel calm, because being in a place like this sometimes felt uncomfortable.

"Can you say a lot of things to me?" Doctor Citra started his therapy session.

"Speak about what?"

"Anything."

"This doctor is not clear. Can't you just talk like that? And again, when do we start therapy? The doctor continued to talk."

"Here we're gonna start the therapy, sir."

"What therapy? His therapy just talks?"

"What do you want the therapy to look like?"

"Yes don't know, does your doctor, time ask me? How'this? Then what's the point of me coming here?"

Nania almost opened her mouth to speak, but Citra gave a gesture.

"Can you tell me what difficulties you've had since you realized that you have dyspraxia?"

"I told you that I can't button my shirt and tie my shoelaces. How many more times do I have to explain?"

Doctor Citra sighed softly.

"Is that disturbing?"

"actually no. I can wear other undocked clothes or untied shoes. And it's easy, just …." The man turned towards Nania. "I'm embarrassed" he said, which left the women nearby stunned.

"Tempo?" Doctor Citra made a note.

"Doctors know, everyone will be disappointed and then things change. Moreover, they will pity me."

"Hmm .. Interesting." The woman wrote again.

"You know what, sir? It is not about how people perceive us but about our own acceptance of the issue. And your fear won't help."

"I'm not afraid. Just don't want to let anyone else down."

"There is no achievement that can be defeated by dyspraxia. For example You. Aren't there many things you can do that others might not be able to do? So I guess it's not a big deal. Shortcomings can be replaced by what you have done."

Daryl.

"Do you understand, sir?"

"Why the hell did you make me talk in circles? Shouldn't it be therapy?" The man then got up.

"It's part of therapy, sir."

"What therapy? Just talk. If this is how it can be at home, why should I bother coming to you?" He took his foot off the examination ward.

"Indeed the procedure is like this."

"Well, what procedure? Just wasting time!"

"But everything has its stages, sir."

"Ah, I'm lazy when it's like this!" Daryl.

"It's enough. I'm going home!" he said, who tidied up his clothes.

"But Sir?"

"I don't care, I don't want to be like this!" Daryl sauntered towards the door.

"Hey, the therapy's not done yet, is it?" Nania got up from her seat.

"I don't want to!" The man came out.

"Ee ... Doctor?"

Doctor Citra seemed to sigh.

"Sorry, doctor." Nania was a little embarrassed.

"It's okay. The first session is usually the hardest."

"Malysha!!!" Daryl shouted from the examination hall.

"L-yes!"

"Follow it first, it can come again after he understands."

"alright. Again sorry, Doctor."

"Yes." Yeah."

Then Nania ran out after hearing the man's scream again.
