"Do you think only you sacrifice?" Mathew smiled wryly as he looked at the mother who had moved from the chair.
"Did you forget, have you dragged me along with this plan? I had to leave Emily to get close to Vio. When I started to fall in love with her, Mom again asked me to leave Vio! Even asking me to do cruel things to him!" Mathew's eyes reddened from remembering his past.
Anna remained silent. His too high an ego closed his heart. She no longer cared about her son's feelings.
Anna chose to leave the room while grasping her stance. He doesn't care about everything anymore. Revenge and treasure have possessed the soul of the mother of two children.
Disappointment is now in Mathew's heart. He shuffled from the room, then headed for the reporting room. He finally decided to turn himself in and be willing to be examined.
"I'm involved in an illegal baby tube case with Violetta, sir!" mathew told the police who were on duty at the time.
Brian, frowned when he heard Mathew's confession. He immediately typed all the sentences spoken by Anna's son. Brian let out a long sigh as Mathew recounted all the events he had experienced all along.
"So, you're using Vio for revenge and making money?"
"Yes, Sir. I rented out her uterus to a doctor who happened to need a uterus to inject embryos. The doctor's wife doesn't have a uterus."
"What's his name?" ask Brian.
"Doctor Matheo."
Brian slips. He did not expect that the famous obstetrician in Missouri had committed an illegal act in order to obtain a child.
"I forged Vio's signature, and took him to the hospital unconscious. There, we were helped by an expert doctor to inject an embryo into Vio's womb. But the doctor who helped us didn't know about the signature forgery. He only knew that the baby tube program was legally registered at the hospital where he worked." Mathew tried his best so that no one else would be dragged into the case.
"So, you and Doctor Matheo inserted the embryo without Mrs Vio's permission?"
Mathew nodded lethargicly. His fingers were squeezing each other. His head is deep.
Mathew regretted all his actions. He hoped his sins would be forgiven for surrendering to the police. Although it was too late, he still hoped that the punishment he received was not too severe.
Shortly after, Vio and Jason come to the police station. He was a little surprised when he saw Mathew sitting in front of Brian's desk. Vio immediately approached Mathew and looked at him suspiciously.
"What are you here for? Do you want to argue over what you have done? You should be in jail with your mother!" exclaim Vio with tightly clenched teeth.
"I'm here for that, Vio." Mathew raised his head then looked at the sad woman he actually still loved very much.
"I came here to surrender. Sorry, for making your life a mess." Mathew bowed down full of regrets.
"I'm sorry? May God and the law of this country forgive you. But, I won't forgive you as long as my breath is still blowing!"
Mathew could only bow listlessly. Everything Vio said was true. If she was in the position of that woman, it would definitely be hard to forgive her actions.
Brian finally asks another officer to take Mathew to a holding cell. Vio replaced Mathew. Now he's sitting at Brian's desk. Vio began to uncover everything he had experienced so far.
After a 3-month investigation, a Missouri court held a hearing for Mr Smith's family. Everyone involved was present.
Jason was also asked to come as a witness. The man was also involved with Vio's sudden pregnancy. He was even prepared if his originally only witness status turned into a defendant.
The judicial process goes on so hard. Especially when an expert witness is presented. All of his statements made Vio furious.
"Mrs Anna Swan is severely depressed, Your Honor. He took sedatives for a long time. I think the two need special mental handling rather than having to crouch in a holding cell."
"The objection of His Majesty!" shouted the public prosecutor.
"Mrs Anna did all those plans in a conscious state! Even though the defendant was taking tranquilizers, everything he did was conscious! I don't agree if he's just getting mental treatment without serving a sentence in the cell!"
"Everything's quiet!" the chief judge.
After the trial went awry, the court finally decided on a severe sentence for Anna and Matheo. Anna was sentenced to life, while Matheo was sentenced to five years in prison for for forgery.
Mathew was granted parole, as he was considered very cooperative during the investigation. Vio can breathe a sigh of relief. He doesn't care about Mathew being free of punishment.
Vio considers every decision given by the judge, is something that is indeed appropriate for the defendants. Finally Vio chose to make peace with his heart. He did not want to be burdened with revenge.
"Vio!" call Mathew while half running towards the ex-lover and stir his steps.
Vio and Jason turned their heads, then stopped. They both stared at the coming Mathew who was now trying to catch his breath. After her breathing improved, Mathew reached out.
Vio glanced at him. The woman glanced at her husband, then welcomed Mathew's helping hand when she received Jason's approval. A wide smile was engraved on Mathew's lips.
"Vio, I'm sorry. I've done a lot of bad things to you. I hope after this we can relate well again as brothers."
Hearing Mathew's words, of course, made Vio immediately withdraw his hand. He folded his arms in front of his chest. A cynical look he threw at Mathew.
"Family relations, huh? I don't think I'll ever be able to consider me a stepbrother even if I'm honestly sick of all the drama you've been doing all this time." Vio smiled slanted while throwing his face a glance.
A second later, Vio looked back at Mathew. He smiled faintly as he pushed the man's left chest with the tip of his index finger. Mathew took a step back, then bowed lethargic.
"I've forgiven you, so don't think too much. But, I will never forget all the bad things you have done! If I continue to hold grudges, it will not be good for my mental health I do not want to be like you and your mother!"
"Then, Jason? Why don't you hate him? He was involved with all of this too!"
"Jason?" Vio glanced at the husband, then looked back at Mathew's dislike.
"My husband is involved. But all this time he was trying to protect me! She always took care of me, during pregnancy and until now she has always been with me! You are not worth comparing to him! You're just using me for revenge! There's no genuine love, like Jason gave me!" Vio turned back and left Mathew, who was now sitting on the floor.
"You're wrong, Vio. I actually love you very sincerely too. It's just that, things have to make me forget all that even if it's hard." Mathew continued to stare at Vio's back which was getting further away.
