Chapter 97's

Vale could clearly see the dislike that Sean's father had put on him. Valerie slightly lowered her eyes as she met Sean's father's eyes.

Sean's father and stepmother sat in front of them without a sound. "Who is Sean?" stepmother asked Sean while looking at Sean with a questioning face.

"My wife." replied Sean briefly.

"What?" Sean's stepmother was shocked. He looked towards the belly of the distended Vale so clearly.

"He pregnant? Whose son?" ask her mother again.

"Of course my son."

His mother shut her mouth in shock, bewildered and astonished to face this condition. "But Anna..."

"There's no Anna. From the beginning I turned down the engagement, I did it because Grandpa and Dad were threatening me at the time" Sean said.

Sean throws a brown envelope and their wedding book at the table. "I'm married and legally legitimate" Sean said firmly and coldly.

Sean's father took the envelope and opened it. Sean's father took out some photos in it. Sean's mother was again surprised to see the whole picture in there.

"I know Dad and Grandpa already knew this. Anna and Nikolay are doing this behind my back, behind the reason that I set them up, but they do have a relationship a long time ago" Sean said.

Sean's father throws the pictures violently. Vale was still speechless not wanting to open his voice when he was in this kind of stressful state. "You still can't marry someone who's not our equal." cried Sean's father loudly until echoed throughout the hall.

Valerie flinched upon hearing the scream which was definitely indirectly aimed at her. Sean growled at his father for seeing his wife scared. "Not equal? What do you mean by being equal to a dirty and cunning person like you and Grandpa. My wife is even better than you and Grandpa, even me." Sean said furiously.

Vale clasped Sean's hand tighter as he saw Sean's great anger that he rarely saw.

"Stop Sean, your wife is pregnant, don't make her depressed because of this problem" Kendra said to Vale and sat next to him.

Kendra rubbed Vale's back and stomach slowly and led him to calm down. "I'll take Valerie to the room, you take care of your business with Dad" Kendra told Vale to get up. Vale looked at Sean with a face asking for approval.

Sean nods to convince Vale to go with Kendra. Valerie finally followed Kendra with a feeling of worry.

Arriving at the room, Kendra led Vale to sit on the bed and lie down comfortably. Kendra sat on the bed with an illegible face.

"I'm sorry, because me, Sean and both of your parents are facing this problem" Vale said.

Kendra shakes. "No, they've been like this since Sean was a teenager. I feel guilty for not being able to take care of her as a sister."

"When Sean came to this house, I was so happy that I wasn't home alone. Since childhood, he seemed aloof and did not talk much. I saw how Grandpa and Dad shaped Sean into someone they wanted. I realized he was being treated like a doll by Grandpa and Dad, but I couldn't do anything about it. Sean never smiled long ago, even though he was with his friend, he seemed to have no friends."

"Until that night, I saw him smiling at a picture. Every day he would meet a man who would give him an envelope. I realize Sean paid him to spy on someone. I finally went into the secret room of his room and found your photo album since childhood. The only person who makes her smile without even looking at her face is you."

Vale was stunned to hear it. New facts about Sean are so shocking.

"The only happiness is you, I don't want to be the one to take that happiness" Kendra said at length.

Suddenly the door opened and the figure of Sean's stepmother appeared. Vale stared fixedly as Sean's stepmother walked up to him and sat down next to him.

"I'm sorry, I don't know how Sean really feels. I thought I deserved to be a mother to her, but I didn't." - Sean's stepmother stroked Valerie's head.

"I love Sean as much as Kendra, I love him as much as my own son. I don't know what he's been through all this time." she said again with red eyes glazed over.

Kendra grabbed her mother's shoulders and calmed her. Sean's mother grabbed Valerie's hand and held it tightly. "Please take care of my son and love him like he loves you so much" said his mother.

Vale POVs

I was standing in front of Sean while putting his work tie in silence. Sean hasn't wanted to talk about anything since yesterday about him and his dad after I left. I also didn't want to ask and would just wait for Sean to say it without my coercion.

After his tie was neatly attached, Sean lowered his head and crouched down on the floor to face directly with my distended stomach. "Don't be naughty, don't make Mommy a fuss." said Sean softly after that kissed my stomach.

My heart warms to see it. Sean stood back up and looked at me. He brought my head closer and kissed my old forehead.

"I'm leaving. If there's anything call me. I love you." I nodded as I looked at Sean with gentleness.

After that Sean came out of our room, leaving me alone in a place that was still very foreign to me.

Just a few minutes after Sean's departure, suddenly the door of the room opened and the figure of Sean's stepmother with a big smile appeared.

"Sean is gone, you must be bored in the room. What are you doing?" ask Sean's mom.

"Ehh." I was confused as to what to answer. "I'm with Mrs. Romanov alone." I said dead-end not knowing what to do.

Sean's mother seemed to shake with an annoyed face. "Call Mommy okay, let's say you're already Mommy's son" she said, with an awkward nod.

"Ahh, wait here Mommy wants to grab something. Yes wait!" I stared at Sean's mother's back who left so quickly out of the room.

I chuckled at Sean's cute stepmother's very attractive behavior.I couldn't hide the pleasure because Sean's mother had accepted my presence in her family. I sat there waiting for Sean's mother to arrive.

The door opens and shows Sean's stepmother entering the room with a tray.

"Mommy makes cookies, you taste yes" he said.

I smiled happily and nodded. I accepted the cookies and ate them impatiently.

"Ehmm, good." I said smiling honestly enjoying the chocolate cookies.

"really?" I nodded and ate it again.

Sean's stepmother seemed to be smiling happily and contentedly. After that, he picked up a box that was on top of the tray as well.

I was silent when Sean's stepmother opened the box. "It's a diamond Sean's grandmother gave Mommy when mommy got married. Now mommy wants to give it to you." I'm surprised to see a diamond necklace in the box. The stone is large and looks very luxurious like belonging to the kingdom of antiquity.

"It's a hereditary necklace for the bride. Now this necklace belongs to you." he said again.

I shut my mouth in disbelief. I looked into Sean's mother's eyes with a shocked look. Sean's mother just smiled reassuringly and I ended up hugging him so tightly.

"Thank you Mommy." warm. His embrace feels warm. A warm feeling that reminds me of the embrace of a mother who loves her child so much. Unknowingly my tears are dripping. I miss Mom and Dad.
