"Wait a minute. What does this mean?" asked Vale who suddenly raised his voice not understanding the situation that was happening now.
Sean and his Grandfather stared at Valerie with flat faces. Valerie cupped her hands together in front of her chest while putting on a pushy face asking for an explanation.
"I need an explanation here!" vale was upset.
"Grandfather knows Sean? What proposal? Why don't I know?" ask Vale in a row and be impatient.
"Grandma knows too?" vale asked looking at his Grandma with a demanding face.
"Let Grandpa tell it." said his Grandfather with a sigh preparing to speak at length.
"When you went to high school, suddenly someone Grandpa and Grandma didn't know came to our old house and he was this guy."
Flashback.
The sound of knocking on the door made an old woman slowly walk towards the door to open it.
"Who?" the door opened and a handsome man appeared, standing in front of their house.
Valerie's grandmother was seen looking at the man with a confused face. "Excuse me Nek, introduce my name Sean" the man said with a polite smile.
Grandma could only nod briefly still with a face full of question marks. "Who are you?" ask Grandma.
Sean smiled. "I want to talk to Grandma and Grandpa, can I come in?" ask Sean.
Grandma put on an increasingly confused face, then nodded briefly and opened the door wider, hinting for Sean to go inside.
Sean went inside with a warm smile. Sitting on the sofa is available in the minimalist house. Grandma went to call Grandpa, leaving Sean circulating his gaze to see the entire house that Valerie lived in.
The house is not big. The furniture looks old too. There are photos of Valerie from childhood to large displayed on the wall.
"Who are you?" Sean turned to the source of the voice and found Grandpa Valerie coming towards him with a dislike face.
"I'm Sean Kek, Valerie's little friend." Sean introduced himself politely. Grandpa and Grandma Valerie sat on the sofa to talk to Sean.
"What are you doing here? Valerie's still at school, she's not home yet" Grandpa said coldly.
"Yes, I know I came here on purpose when he wasn't around. Maybe if he saw me, he wouldn't recognize me right now" Sean said.
"Then what do you want to talk about?" ask Grandpa not to mince words.
"I want to propose to Grandpa's only grandson" Sean said to the point without fear.
Grandpa Vale looked angry, then hit the sofa with emotion. "What did you say? You're going crazy? My granddaughter is still in school." Grandpa Vale said with anger.
"I know cake, I just want to ask for the blessing of Grandpa and Grandma. Later when Valerie has graduated from college and work, I will go to him. For the time being, I will just be watching Valerie from afar. I'll be successful soon and marry Grandpa's granddaughter afterwards." Sean said earnestly.
Grandpa Vale would naturally not be that easy to say yes to. Grandpa Valerie got up to her feet still with an angry face. "Go from here! Don't come again!" said Grandpa Vale coldly.
Grandpa Vale stepped slowly leaving the living room. Sean quickly got up to his feet and looked at Grandpa Vale's clingy back.
"I'm not going to give up" said Sean, who managed to make Grandpa Valerie's footsteps stop for a while, but after stepping back away.
Sean bowed politely to Grandma Valerie, said goodbye, then left from there.
Sean didn't give up that easily. The man would sit in front of the available chairs on the porch of the house, then speak for himself.
"I really love Grandpa's granddaughter. He helped me when I was a kid. I almost lost my life back then if Valerie hadn't come and saved me."
Sean talks about how his childhood was with Valerie. Sean was sure that even if he spoke from outside the house, Grandpa and Grandma Valerie must have listened to him.
Then Sean'll leave if the clock shows Valerie the hour Valerie's going home from school.
Days Sean comes just to tell of experiencing his true feelings for Valerie from outside the house. One week passed and Sean came back home.
Sean sat on the outside chair he often sat in, then stared at the yard he always saw when he sat there.
Sean smiled warmly. It's his last day in New York, tomorrow Sean has to go back to Russia.
"Today, my last day in New York and the last day I came here. Tomorrow I have to go back to Russia. I'm happy that even if it's only been a week in this country, because the girl I love is here. Honestly I don't want to go this fast, one Sunday was short, but I had to leave immediately for Valerie's safety."
"If you're not willing, because Grandpa and Grandma haven't given me my blessing yet, but I won't give up."
Silent. There's no sound. Sean stared fixedly at the yard in silence. But a few minutes later, the doorknob rang and the door finally opened.
Sean looked at her with an unexpected face.
"Lake in!" Grandpa Valerie stood up with a flat face and told Sean to enter in with a cold tone.
Sean smiled happily, then entered the house with a happy heart.
Grandpa, Grandma and Sean were sitting on the living room couch. Sean sat down while drinking tea provided by Valerie's grandmother.
"What's your full name?"
"Sean Matthew Aliano."
"I don't like it when you come to my house and make a fuss every day" said Grandpa, leaving Sean speechless.
"However I can see sincerity in your eyes. I can also see the determination of what you do every day. I can see you really love Valerie, but I won't give you my blessing." Sean remained silent.
"I let you approach my granddaughter, but the choice was entirely with Valerie. You can say you love her now, not necessarily 10 years later. You still have a lot to prove your efforts to me." Sean smiled happily at it, nodding confidently.
"I'll show you to Grandpa and Grandma."
Off Flashback.
Valerie was speechless to hear the past stories told by her Grandfather. He was stunned unexpectedly, then looked at Sean fixedly.
"We've known him since childhood?" valerie asked unexpectedly. Sean nodded briefly.
Vale shakes. "Who? I've been friends with a lot of people since I was a kid, but I sure as hell don't have a friend named Sean." Valerie said.
"I'll tell you later." said Sean staring fixedly at Vale.
