The Birth of the Demon Sword
Battles

Chapter 30 - 30. Battles

The Balvan family arrived at the foot of the Cliffshear mountain.

They jumped off the carriage and silently stared at the trees that filled it.

Everyone was in a serious mood as the battle was imminent, the usual exchange of jokes and scolding was non-existent, only concentration could be seen in their eyes.

Even if they could arrive faster if they ran all the way here, they prioritized their physical condition, so they rested at night in the remains of the village and took the train before dawn.

It was still a few hours before noon but, although the sun was high in the sky, the field of view on the mountain path was limited by the many trees above it.

Mark was the first to break the silence.

"They would obviously have guards around their camp if they were still here."

Everyone nodded.

"The field doesn't support us, but we should have a better lookout, once we find it, we can prepare a plan of attack."

said Susan.

Sandy wrapped her arms around Mark's neck and proudly announced.

"The best that the outer ring has to offer."

Noah finally understood why they could see the thunder wolf in front of him.

'So that's why. I wonder if they are just good scouts or if their mental energy is so high that they can take on that role easily.'

He kept trying to figure out the true strength of his friends but they rarely showed any clues about their strength.

With the exception of Ethan, he doesn't even know what kind of weapon they are using.

"You two go ahead and show me the way, we'll follow."

After Susan's orders, they enter the mountain forest following Mark and Sandy.

They often leave in two different ways before regrouping and showing directions to the people who follow them.

Several hours passed, without anyone in the group speaking a word during their exploration.

Then, Sandy and Mark went towards them signaling for silence.

They crouched on the ground and spoke in a soft voice.

"We found a campground a few minutes in that direction. It should have been them because there was a scream of a woman coming from there."

"Ordinary soldiers are tired and sleepy, I believe that they have done nothing but rape those women lately. You're lucky, Noah."

Since it was his job to take care of non-cultivators, this was good news for him. Apparently, no one cared about the fate of the hostages at the moment.

"What about Cultivators?"

Askew Susan.

"There is the one in the highest place of the encampment that must be the stronger of them, we cannot find more about him for fear of being discovered."

"There are 5 of them worth of our concern after him, the others are just weaklings for the kid."

Sandy and Mark would explain things by diving the exploration between the 2 of them, Noah was almost certain that cultivating would cause some brain damage by now.

"How do we proceed?"

He asked and everyone’s gaze went on Susan since she was the captain of the mission.

"I will jump straight in the middle of them and face the strongest guy. While they are busy following me, Mark, Sandy, and Ethan will ambush the cultivators trying to lower their number while Noah will storm between the weaklings. Once the situation stabilizes, we go hunt for the remaining ones. Remember your roles."

’She is actually planning to be the bait?’

Noah was doubtful but still decided to follow with the plan, after all, if Susan wanted to take the danger on her, so be it.

They moved toward the perimeter of the encampment and when everyone was ready, Susan jumped out in the open, speeding toward her target.

"Just follow us kid."

Sandy said as he and Mark looked out a short knife from their clothes.

Ethan unsheathed his greatsword so Noah did the same with the sabers on his back.

The normal soldier did not notice Susan's figure because she was too fast, only when she was in the middle of the camp did someone alarm her.

"Enemy attack!"

The camp fell into chaos as the soldiers went to retrieve their swords left on the ground.

As Susan approached the top of the camp, a man jumped out of the tent and directly swung his sword at her.

Susan raised her hand and the sword was deflected by it, the sound of metal fighting metal echoing in the air.

"Now!"

mark shouted, and the group still hiding around the camp shot in the open.

Sandy and Mark headed straight towards Susan while Ethan did a semicircle with his greatsword splitting the 3 soldiers into two, then he went in the same direction as the other 2 warriors.

Noah is the last to appear and he takes advantage of the confusion created by his friends to sneak into the group of defectors.

Blood spilled and heads flew over as he ran through the group, the more he killed now upon reaching Ethan and the others, the less he had to care about later when the effects of his shock dissipated.

When he appeared on the other side of the camp, 5 soldiers fell dead on the ground.

On this side, Susan was still fending off different weapons with her hands while trying to reach her target, Sandy and Mark took out one of them with excellent teamwork but were then surrounded by 3 cultivators who restricted their movements.

Ethan fights a tall man with a big axe alone.

At a certain point, Susan made a palm move with her hand that released a shockwave that shocked the 2 soldiers who fought with her for a moment.

He hurriedly grabbed the head of one of them and squeezed it tightly.

The poor man's head was reduced to meat porridge while Susan didn't even look at him before continuing in her original direction, the other man by her side was too afraid to react to the woman speeding past him.

Noah turns to face another soldier who unleashes a seemingly invisible wave of attacks, Ethan uses a destructive move to destroy the huge axe and then thrust his greatsword into the high man's chest.

Sandy and Mark nimbly dodged every attack unleashed by the 3 men while giving a quick strike as a counterattack, as a result of which the wrists and arms of the 3 deserters were injured.

Noah killed 3 of them leaving standing 2 people who blocked his attack.

Only 7 deserters are still alive, with 3 of them injured.

At that moment, a ball of fire fell from the highest point of the camp and stopped on the ground in the middle of the battlefield, Susan's figure barely visible among the flames.
