The Birth of the Demon Sword

Chapter 3 - 03. Strengths

Noah did not believe in the existence of the soul during his previous life, life was about empirics and reality, there was no place for religious or spiritual thought. But after he was reborn, he began to consider the idea that there was more to it than the eye or the advanced machine could see.

As he stared at the old man who was gently standing on the edge of the balcony, seemingly appearing out of nowhere, his mind fell into chaos.

'There was a dragon coming and chasing a sheep. So this world has dragons in it. Then the wall lit up and injured the dragon, right? Then the dragon got angry and wanted to burn us all but this old man, who turned out to be my grandfather, blocked it with one hand as it flew and then looked at the dragon to make it fly.'

After briefly summarizing the previous events in his mind, he only had one thought.

'Where do I end up?!? This guy can actually fly and fight dragons and they want me to protect them?? Is there something wrong with their minds? Wait, if they want me to protect them, it means I should be able to learn a thing or two.'

The path of his mind was interrupted by Thomas entering the balcony and slowly walking towards them.

"Yes, Mr. Patriarch. This is Noah, Rhys' son and my own son."

Lowering her head, Lily gently exposes Noah to Thomas so she can see the baby better. Maybe Lily wanted to use this opportunity to instill a tinge of love in Thomas for her grandson so that he could protect her in the future, or maybe he was just afraid of stiffly seeing the old patriarch that he could do nothing but to expose his son with trembling hands.

Noah, meanwhile, looked at the old man with fiery eyes.

He was not even aware of the passion and curiosity shown by his gaze.

'People in this world can fly and fight with a damn dragon! Old maaan, look how cute I am! Teach me how to fly!'

But just a few sounds came out of his mouth, they resembled words but were meaningless. So Noah reached out his little hand towards Thomas, to withdraw his feelings, putting on a happy face upon seeing the approaching patriarch.

'You fought the dragon but you still love your relatives, right?'

Needless to say, the entire dragon incident left a deep impression on him. After all, the dragon was only a legend in his world and was described as mighty and invincible. While their power is only limited to fantasy, in this world dragons can be fought, and you can win.

"Oh"

Seeing the baby happily stretching his hands towards him, Thomas inevitably showed a hint of warmth on his serious face. Then he took Noah off his armpit and looked at him with a slight smile.

"Ooh, he sees pretty interested in me, there sure is some smartness in this child. Maybe he will truly become a good counselor of the family. I’ll keep an eye on him from time to time"

Hearing this, Lily was ecstatic and hurt to say the most respectful thanks she could muster.

"Many thanks, Patriarch. I’m sure that his safety can be assured for life with just one gaze of yours"

She bowed saying so, with both hands forming a praying form.

"There is no such being that could do that. Here, take Rhys’ son and bring him back to his room. Today’s events are not for a child this little to see"

Thomas handled Noah back to Lily and disappeared from the balcony. Lily could not stop her excitement after he left and kept cheering Noah.

"Have you heard? He will keep an eye on you! The Patriarch of the Balvan family will keep an eye on my son. Hahaha, this is wonderful. And he said that you could be a counselor, this is wonderful too. Not only my son will be protected by a mighty cultivator, he might also be away from the battlefield for life."

Carrying Noah back to their sleeping quarters in the center of the first floor, she did not notice that the baby in her arms was silent and that her eyes were growing more and more determined.

’A counselor my ***! What’s the point in giving advice to people with such powers. Any problem can just be blasted out like the old man did with the lance of flame! To think that a power like this actually exist! I must get my hands on it. I might have to risk a bit though, it seems that the purity of the bloodline is kept in high regard inside the Balvan family so showing some talent may attract unwanted attention from the main family descendants. Yet, I need some information to really understand what’s going on’

From all the books he read, he could imagine that the fight for success or even the envy of someone with a higher status than him might end up in blood.

’I already died once, and it was by accident. I don’t want to be put in a political scheme and end up dead again, being powerless about it.’

A determination that never felt flowed through her small body, while Lily prepared to put it in her cradle.

'A world in which power is not given to men from the society they create. A power that seems to come from within each individual, a power that only themselves possess. Lily called her a "cultivator", I have to find something about that. I had to learn to walk and read as quickly as possible so that I could have some sort of independence and at the same time show some early talent in literature. This might lead me to books explaining what exactly a cultivator is and how to become a cultivator.'

From that day on he started eating more and more to grow stronger and get rid of the skinny physique he had since birth. He began actively trying to walk, first in the cradle and then on the ground, worrying about the servants or his mother whenever she fell from her attempt to stand up. However, this kind of pain was nothing.

'The bullet in the chest is much more painful'

And so, just 8 months after his birth, Noah stood upright on the ground, taking his first steps.

'It's so slow, I need to train for this. I have to start running from time to time to be healthier and more comfortable with my body.'

Although she was disappointed by how slowly she grew up, Lily and the servants were stunned.

“This baby has been trying to stand for 3 months and now he is doing it. Most importantly every time she fell she would not cry but try to stand up again. If we don't stop him every time he can be big. injured now"

The chattering maid was completely ignored by Lily because of the pride she felt when she saw her baby walking at 8 months old.

"This must be thanks to the patriarch, I know something good will definitely happen from that day on."

Lucky or not, Noah's achievements were pinned on the supernatural figure of Thomas Balvan.

The surprise on the first floor of the guesthouse was far from over.

Having been assured of having a good balance, Noah took slow and careful steps toward his mother. Slowly but surely, and with the little support given by the wall by her side, she arrived in front of her smiling mother.

"Come to little mother, you did an amazing job today. I'm happy!"

Saying this, he half knelt on the ground with his arms outstretched waiting for Noah to reach his embrace.

Noah looked at her and smiled, then moved with his arms outstretched towards her and shouted at the last moment before the embrace:

"Mama!"

And then she fell in her mother's arms, while Lily and the servants looked at her with wide-eyed eyes.

"This should be enough to give me an early education."
