Chapter 1 - 01. Nativity
The darkness. This was his first thought after waking up.
'Where am I?'
He tried to move his limbs but the sensation of touch had something wrong from what he was used to doing.
'Wait, can I think?'
'I remember clearly being shot in the chest by those gangsters. Am I in a coma?'
He tried again to move or open his eyes but the only thing he could feel was the sensation of tightness and the only thing he could see was darkness.
'I think I'm still alive, it seems like I can't even reach the quick death of my life. Well, at least it's warm in here.'
There was a constant warmth in his body, making the environment quite comfortable.
'At least once I wake up, my parents will let me off the hook for a while. Maybe I should take this opportunity to get out of that house and go abroad, at least there should be a cleaning service that employs me.'
He thought of the possibility of utilizing that near-death experience as a means to free himself from the confinement he called home. He considered how his parents would react once he told them he was leaving university to become a dishwasher.
'Dad won't make too much trouble for me, but I will definitely go crazy. Right now the only thing I can do at home without starting a fight is to read. Maybe I'll lose that too'
Ever since he remembered, he loved playing games, reading books, and getting drunk. He finds something else boring and this has greatly affected his school career since high school. So, the situation at his house was getting harder for him to maintain because his parents would rather scream all the time than accept that the university was no match for him.
'I guess most of those situations were my fault, after all, I've spent most of my life drunk or isolated in some books. Not a good job as a kid.'
Thinking of this, regret appeared within him. If he knew better at that time, he would not have used liquor as a means to vent and perhaps the situation in his family would have been more peaceful.
'Well, I can't change what's been going on, and I don't have much of a choice to stay calm while pretending all the time'
When she was 14, she discovered that something was not entirely right with her. He would see his friends chasing after girls or pretty clothes, emphasizing love and social status within a group of people. However, he only felt curiosity towards**** without ever being able to truly bond with someone. As for human society, it sees it as a set of rules created by humans to force them to live together.
'Are those rules not made by men? As a man, I must have the right to ignore them and live as I wish.'
Time continued to pass as he thought, without him realizing that his thinking speed was much lower than usual.
'In the end, this is a world governed by money. If you have it, you can do whatever you want; otherwise, you could just end up at one of the wheels of Society, raising money until you die.'
'How to live a sad life. Forced by human rules to work to collect pieces of paper, while it only has value thanks to the same rules you adhere to. True freedom can only be achieved by collecting enough paper. Is there any value in living a life like this?'
His reasoning would stop from time to time as he would sleep or try to wake his body up.
In this way, the days passed.
'Maybe I'm in a permanent coma and I have to wait for the real death to be freed from this darkness.'
The darkness around him began to affect his mood, the only thing that kept him sane was the warm feeling in his body.
It was at that moment that light appeared in the world of darkness, which seemed to get bigger as time went on.
'Finally there is change! I have to follow t-'
Suddenly, a kind of pressure pushed him from the narrow space he was in towards the light. It seemed to be a slow and painful process in which he felt pressure. After some time, the world of darkness became a world of light so bright that his eyes ached. He began to hear some cheers and voices speaking in an unknown language.
'The string happened--'
He could not finish his thought that the fat lady had already turned him to the side and lightly slapped his butt.
For some reason, he felt pain from that light slap.
'What are you doing woman?!?'
He said, but what came out of his mouth was just a loud cry.
Upon hearing the cry, the faces of the people in the room relaxed and the fat woman carried the baby into the arms of a pale but beautiful woman lying on an ancient bed.
"He's a man, miss, and quite curious, according to the way he looks at everything"
Although he did not understand anything about what the fat woman said, the young man in the baby's body could easily figure out the situation he was in.
'Am I reborn? Isn't that a coma?!?'
The woman holding the baby opened her chest and tried to feed her.
'Wait--!'
Before he could say, or rather shout anything, liquid flowed into his mouth and he lost himself in dizziness during the first meal.
"I'll give you Noah's name, yes, Noah Balvan is a good name"
Noah looked at the woman who was feeding him with half-closed eyes. The woman had long, unattached black hair on her back and ice-blue eyes under her thin eyebrows.
'Of course my mother is beautiful. Noah should be the name he gave me, at least it's a good name'
The door of the room opened and a man in his forties with short black hair and a stern face walked directly towards the woman on the bed.
"Lily let me see the kid"
Saying so, the man immediately hugged Noah and lifted him into the air to look at the baby better. The fat woman and the other two maids at the side of the bed lowered their heads upon seeing the man.
Even Lily held back her angry voice when she saw Noah suddenly being taken from her chest.
"Mh, it's a bit pale and skinny but there seems to be some kind of intelligence in him. Maybe he won't be able to become a guard for the main family but he might succeed as a counselor. You did a good job Lily"
Saying so, the man returned the baby to his mother and moved towards the exit. Seeing this scene, Lily said softly:
"Rhyshe's your son and his name is Noah, can't he aim to be more than a simple guard?"
Stopping at the edge of the exit, Rhys turned to look at Lily and said in the most natural way:
"Even if he has my blood on his veins, he has your blood too mixed, the son of a prostitute should consider himself lucky enough if he can protect the descendants of the main family"
And she came out of the room, leaving Lily with watery eyes hugging Noah. He did not see the deep gaze of the baby in his hand towards his father after he went through the door.
'It seems like this family is not that simple, I should do my best to learn the language of this world as quickly as possible'
Thinking so, he closed his eyes and went to sleep.
