Through midnight, Dinda's condition suddenly deteriorated. He was immediately taken back to the ICU room as he had to be fitted with some emergency medical equipment that was not included in his treatment room.
Adit who was alone guarding Dinda, looked so panicked and full of fear watching Dinda's body suddenly severe seizures followed by the sound of a monitoring device at the bedside that buzzed quickly and sometimes stopped long, long, made his mood even more tense.
One confidant of Papa Satrio, who is still assigned to guard outside Dinda's treatment room, immediately contacted his superiors and informed about the current condition of his daughter-in-law. Both Adit and Dinda's parents rushed to the hospital with extreme anxiety.
"Come, baby. Hang in! Keep fighting!! Me and Love are here waiting for you..!!!"
Adit walked back and forth alone in front of the ICU room. His lips kept moving, chanting all the prayers he could say, asking for a miracle from God so that Dinda could be safe and well.
Thirty more minutes had passed without any signs of handling on Dinda had been completed. The silent midnight atmosphere further added to the gripping aura in every second that passed by just like that.
Adit was getting frustrated and impatient. Many times he approached the door of the ICU room and looked inside through the small glass in the middle of the door. But he could not see anything because there was one more door that blocked the patient's handling room from being seen from the outside.
The sound of footsteps of several people clashed with the floor along the corridor and broke the silence of the night that had changed in the early hours.
Both Adit and Dinda's families arrive in front of the ICU room where only Adit and one guard are seen to be escorting from a distance. Some families of ICU patients are provided with a special room on the side to rest while waiting for family members who are being treated inside.
"What's going on, Dit? How's Dinda doing?" Mother Nina rushed into the arms of her daughter-in-law with sobs that had accompanied her arrival with other families.
Adit shook his head weakly. He doesn't know what to answer. None of the doctors came out, nor did the nurses. All are still trying to make a rescue effort for his wife who is struggling alone in there, between life and death.
"So Dinda opened her eyes. He could see me and smile at me. But I haven't had time to reply and do anything, suddenly his body shook so violently, his eyes turned upwards, after that...." Adit could barely say it. He tried to calm down by closing his eyes. But the shadow of the incident came back and made him very frightened.
"After that Dinda was unconscious again and the monitoring device has several times shown a straight line that indicates that the heartbeat disappeared....."
A drop of clear crystal decays from the corner of his eye, drenching his right cheek. His mind could no longer be controlled. He was fragile, unable to imagine if his soulmate left him and their little princess Love.
Mother Nina grew sobbing, then slowly pulled and embraced into the arms of her husband, Arya's father. Not much different, Mama Indri also sobbed sadly in the arms of Papa Satrio. All were crying, all were grieving and began to feel an aura of loss that was full of grief.
Adit's body is weakened. He fell on the hospital floor. His legs were folded up with his knees as the pedestal of his head lowered, drowning in grief wrapped in extreme fear.
"Don't go, baby. Please don't go....." He muttered over and over again with a sultry, sore voice.
"Love needs you. I need you too. We both need you here, baby. We must remain three, not part....." No matter how his tears began to flow, Adit continued to speak for himself, as if his wife was by his side.
An hour had passed from the first time Dinda was taken to the ICU room. The door of the room opened and brought up a nurse from behind the door that was closed tightly.
The whole family swarmed the nurse, looking for information about Dinda's condition inside.
"Suster, how's my wife??" Adit who had risen from the floor could not wait to find out the news of Dinda's situation.
The nurse shrugged and shook her head, with a look of eyes that implied regret and apology.
"I'm sorry, you better hear it directly from the doctor. Soon he who represents the team of doctors will come out to see the father and family. Excuse me first..." And the nurse hurriedly continued her steps that had been blocked by many people and disappeared at the end of the corridor.
Bad thoughts immediately came flashing adding anxiety in Adit's heart to peak his fear. The words delivered by the nurse earlier were like a bad premonition that would soon become a reality for her. Is this the end of their story?
A while later, a middle-aged male doctor came out and stood right in front of the door. Finding a crowd of patient families with panicked faces is no exception, he could only sigh deeply and then open the mask that still covered his face after struggling with other colleagues to make rescue efforts on critical patients.
"We're sorry....."
His speech stopped when he saw the body of Mother Nina slumped helplessly in the arms of her husband who also fell because of holding the weight of his wife's body.
The doctor waited for the family to calm Mother Nina first. Some of them sat down while keeping the mothers in shock, even before the doctor finished his first sentence.
The suits were all quieter, he continued his explanation.
"We tried hard as we could, but we're sorry..., the patient's condition is currently in a terminal phase where all the rescue efforts have been done but the patient has not responded to it at all..."
All the faces that appeared there paled instantly hearing the doctor's words. Adit felt his chest hit by a big hammer and his breath stuck in his throat. He felt very claustrophobic and squashed.
"No.., it can't be like that...! There's got to be another way to help my wife, Doc! Do whatever it is. I beg...!!!"
The doctor shook his head with both hands cupped together in front of his chest, a sign of his apology to the family.
"At this time the patient only depends on the resuscitation device that we are still installing, because medically the heart and lungs have stopped working. There's nothing more we can do..."
"We leave the decision to the family, to immediately remove the device from the patient or keep it in the hope of life that....."
The cries of Mother Nina and Mama Indri were heard roaring through the silence in the open room. While both their husbands gave strength with increasingly tight hugs, even though their hearts also felt the same deep sadness.
Adit was still standing in front of the doctor. As powerful as he tried to endure even though his body had felt so light and weak.
His heart tried to accept and understand the doctor's words, but rejection always controlled his mind.
"No! This is not true...!! Dinda can't just walk away....."
