Thank You for True Love

Thank You for True Love
87 GOODBYE

From the front of Dinda's treatment room, the police took Sinta to the ER room to get first aid on the gunshot wound in her leg.

It didn't take long, the doctors and nurses who were standing guard there had already finished their tasks. Sinta's legs were wrapped with a little seepage of blood that still came out staining the white bandage that wrapped it.

Sinta's body started to weaken after constantly shouting endlessly calling out Adit's name. During his time in the IGD room he had started to calm down and was more silent.

With her hands locked behind her back, the police took Sinta out of the hospital. They walked towards two police cars parked on the shoulder of the road, right in front of the IGD room.

Sinta was helped by a policewoman who got into the car. After making sure Sinta was sitting properly in the middle passenger seat, the police came out again to coordinate with colleagues and also their superiors who were still outside the car.

From inside the car, Sinta continued to pay attention to four policemen who were still standing next to the car he was riding in. Three members listened to a brief instruction from their boss.

Sinta's eyes began to sharpen as before. His eyeballs moved around watching the surrounding situation. He felt he had a chance to escape. He thought no more of his injured leg and his locked hands.

He slowly shifted his body to the right side and positioned his body against the car door. His hand moved as much as possible to pull the handle of the car door and push it until it managed to open a little. He immediately lowered his legs one by one until he touched the edge of the asphalt.

Simultaneously, one policeman looked towards the car and found Sinta who was already at the door. Suspicious, the police quickly opened the left door to check on Sinta.

Sinta who was shocked and panicked instantly pulled her body out and tried to escape. Without seeing the traffic crowd back then, he directly crossed the road to avoid the police who had already moved after him.

Tiiinn...!!!

"Love, Dit. She's....."

Adit's face stiffened again. Sinta's hazy shadow again instantly flashed through his mind.

"Love tried to run away again..." Mama Indri continued her husband's disconnected speech.

Adit's body immediately went blank before his papa spoke again.

"And he got hit by a car in front of the hospital. Now it's very critical and it keeps calling your name..."

Adit's eyes turned wide hearing what his papa was saying. Sinta run? Getting hit? Critical?? Those words rang in his ears and made his heart soften.

"Was he......"

"You'd better see for yourself the way things are right now, Dit. While there is still time..." That's all Papa Satrio can say, making Adit more and more gamang.

For a while Adit was still silent in his chair with a hand that kept grasping his wife's weak hand. The shadows of his past with Sinta again present rippled in his current memory. The beautiful past, before the dark event befell Sinta the friend.

"R..." Papa called to make him look at his parents who were still standing next to each other.

"Go away. Meet him."

Adit looked at Dinda's pale face with an erratic feeling. But suddenly he remembered the words spoken by his wife, when they met Sinta at the police station after the first attack on Dinda first.

"Pray him, baby. And forgive him. After all, he is your best friend, having been your best friend in the past."

Adit stood up and bowed his body close to Dinda's face. He whispered in his wife's ear.

"I'll go for a minute, baby. I'm going to see Sinta. As you asked, I will forgive him. Please forgive yourself too."

Then he kissed his wife's forehead gently.

"I love you..."

Blood splattered all over his body was injured by the tabrailai from a close and fast distance that he had just experienced. Doctors and some nurses are still trying to handle it, but it seems to be useless, because Sinta's body can not respond to their actions.

"A-Addits... Dit... A-dit..."

Only those words kept coming out from his blood-red lips that he had spewed out from the impact and severe internal injuries.

Adit's heart was sliced off hearing Sinta's weak voice calling her name. True to his father's words, it seems there is no time for the woman who was once his best friend.

"Love, I'm here..."

With a trembling voice holding haru, Adit finally made a sound that immediately made Sinta try to open her eyes with difficulty and look for Adit's whereabouts.

Her lips were slightly pulled upwards as her eyes found the figure she had been looking for, which she had longed for all this time.

"God... Y-you.., da-dat..da-tang....."

Adit tried to return Sinta's smile and nodded his head.

"Ma-sorry.kan.., a-a-ak..a-ku.., Dit...."

Sinta coughed and regurgitated fresh blood, making Adit involuntarily drip a clear grain from the corner of her eye. His heart felt hurt seeing the pain of his past friend.

Adit stepped forward to approach Sinta. Sinta's eyes slowly followed Adit's steps, who was now standing next to her.

"I've forgiven you. My wife, she must have forgiven you. We both apologize to you..."

There was relief in Adit's heart when he managed to get the sentence out of his mouth. The shadow of Dinda's face instantly present filled his mind.

Sinta's outstretched hand was about to grab Adit's tense hand holding the iron edge of the gurney. Seeing that, Adit immediately brought his right hand to receive Sinta's weak hand, making the woman again show her smile.

"Te-te.co.in.maa....ka-kasiihh... Dit...."

Sinta looked at Adit's face with increasingly wheezing breath, making Adit's chest pounding even more feeling a sense of fear.

"I-I... I-Iuu..say-the.ka-kamuu, Dit......"

Adit panicked and held his breath when suddenly Sinta's body shook violently and his eyes opened wide staring up. Sinta's hand that was holding her hand had also fallen loose. Doctors and nurses are trying to do whatever they can. But it seems like everything has been in vain...

Shortly thereafter, the monitor screen next to Sinta's gurney displayed straight lines that continued to move slowly and let out a long, non-stop humming sound.

"I'm sorry, sir. The patient is gone..."

Adit's face stiffened, staring at the pale face of Sinta who had closed her eyes forever in front of him.

His past friends have left and will never come back. The friend who used to be with him, both of them through joyful days, is now calm in his long sleep facing the Creator.

"Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji..."

"Goodbye, Sinta..."
