Kirana had never really thought about Jonathan, but Jonathan's last words while at the airport moments ago inevitably made Kirana think about him.
Like this afternoon, he was sitting on the grass staring at the edge of an artificial lake in his spacious backyard. Occasionally he throws a thawed frozen sardine that he picks up from a small bucket next to him, making herons with their white feathers cluttered to catch the fish she threw.
Since childhood he loved the activity of feeding the stork, but since his grandfather died, he felt it was not as good as the activity of feeding the stork.
"Why should it compare to others ?" kirana's lips pursed. Throw the last sardines into the middle of the lake, making the storks again scramble.
Kirana let out a long sigh, her face lethargic staring at the storks who developed their white wings to compete for food.
"If you really like it, why should it be compared with others ?" Kirana said irritatedly as she stomped her one foot onto the ground.
"Who likes it ?"
A male voice rang out, making Kirana look up and her eyes immediately rounded when she saw that Dave had been standing tall towered from beside her seat.
Kirana quickly stood up, she was shocked. His heart was willing to jump just with the presence of the man.
"Ke, why didn't you say it came ?" Kirana stammered, her face was already flushed red. But he tried to act ordinary.
Just now he had strengthened his heart, but he immediately looked down to throw his face as Dave looked at himself.
Kirana gulped, unconsciously squeezing the shorts she was wearing just to reduce her nervousness.
"I'm sorry." said Dave, making Kirana look down at him.
They stood and looked at each other against the background of the lake with its clear water with several storks swimming, purple-white lotus flowers that were blooming.
"I'm sorry for saying so badly about you." Dave said, along with the afternoon breeze gently waving his second hair.
Kirana still did not blink looking at the black-shirted man in his blue jeans.
"My words are outrageous to you, you can curse me back or slap me if you want." Dave said again when he saw his long-haired girl with a simple pigtail with an oversized pink shirt and shorts on her knees it was just gawking at him.
"A, I was angry." Kirana can finally say. "But I've forgiven you.." he lowered his head back while squeezing his oversized t-shirt.
Dave silently watched her. There was always something strange about him every time he faced a girl who made his day unlucky first.
"...We both don't know." Kirana said after just silently looking down. "You didn't expect it either, and I thought you'd be more hurt than me." he looked at Dave with his brown eyes that looked bright because of the afternoon sun's bias.
Dave looked at her.
This time Dave who did not give a reaction, made Kirana misbehave by several times biting her lower lip and looking away.
"I'm sorry." he finally looked at Dave again. "I just want to say that it's only natural that you're angry and I'm..." Kirana was choked when Dave's face flushed with eyes that were already lacquering the lake. "I'm sorry !" Kirana said quickly and immediately wiped away the tears that had almost dripped onto the cheek of the Man.
Dave's eyes were round looking at Kirana's face at close range. The girl was already on her tiptoes and holding her cheeks, making time seem to stop and around feel lonely and there were only the two of them.
Kirana seemed oblivious to what she had already bravely done, and as she realized her. He pulled away from Dave. "I'm sorry you !" he screamed while closing his eyes. "I'm really sorry, I didn't accidentally, I SWEAR !" Kirana was really scared, she didn't want Dave to misunderstand her.
Silently Dave smiled knotingly looking at Kirana who looked so panicked that she did not dare to look in her direction.
He took something out of his pants pocket, and then he thrust it at Kirana. "Yours." he said.
Kirana's eyes were rounded when she saw her necklace that had disappeared a moment ago and she almost forgot because of the many problems that kept popping up.
Immediately he took the necklace, in his amateurs a white gold necklace with his whole diamond eyes that glistened in the sun. His precious necklace, the two-headed wedding rings of the late Opa and Oma are said to have very similar faces to him.
Seeing Kirana's reaction to being so fond of the object, Dave was sure that the girl would be angry at him. And he was prepared for it.
"Thank you..." Those beautiful eyes glazed over looking towards her, making her swallow spit involuntarily. "This is Opa and Oma's wedding ring." she showed him the ring that made her necklace.
Dave was surprised when the ring could come off and become two. But he just kept quiet and didn't ask.
"Oma's ring, Daddy gave it to Mom, and then it was on me." He showed Dave the ring with the diamond. "This one belongs to Opa, given to me when I was 3." Kirana smiled revealing a ring of plain white gold.
Dave was still watching. Not paying attention to the two rings Kirana showed her, but paying more attention to Kirana's face that looked radiant when explaining.
When Kirana realized that Dave was just silent, finally her eyes were fixed on the man, making his face immediately red and his heart seemed to be straining out of the chest cavity. Kirana immediately bowed, she was awkward with the way Dave looked at her.
For a moment they just kept quiet with the wind that blows many times making the children's hair Kirana messy and cover her forehead and cheeks.
"Dave !?"
A woman's voice startled both of them, making the two people immediately turn to the source of the voice.
"You came here ?" Marisa already held onto Dave's two arms which were still not fully conscious from her daydream. "Are you okay ?" the 43-year-old woman's face looked anxiously at him.
Slowly Dave smiled with a sad wrinkled face, then in the arms of the woman who was only the highest. "I'm fine, ma'am." he said. "I'm sorry." he rested his head on the woman's shoulder while closing his eyes to hold the pain.
