Substitute Husband

Section 18

Nightfall..

All gathered at the hospital, Jimmy, Kenneth, Agnes and the parents gathered. Jimmy expressed his wish, all shocked to hear Jimmy's request.

Jimmy's condition is getting weaker, Jimmy really hopes to see his sister and wife get married in front of him. Jimmy's parents comply and agree to Jimmy's request, hoping that Kenneth will accept Agnes as his wife.

Agnes' parents were still silent, both Agnes parents asked for time to talk to Agnes, the Agnes family discussed not far from where Jimmy lay.

"Agnes, are you okay?"

"Mama, I'm good." Agnes replied in a hoarse voice.

"Then how is this? Do we have to follow Jimmy's request? Marrying our daughter to Ken? How can this all happen, I really don't understand." Mama Agnes (Alea) complains, staring at papa Agnes (Ben Carney)

Ben embraces Alea, "it seems Jimmy has his own thoughts. (Ben let out a long breath staring at Agnes) Agnes, everything is in your control right now. You are the one who makes the decision, not us. Now papa and mama can only accept whatever your decision is." Ben said in a soft voice.

Agnes lowered her clenched hands, Agnes really felt helpless.

"This is Jimmy's wish, Agnes will fulfill Jimmy's wish. Though it's hard, Agnes will live it." Agnes cries, and hugs Ben.

Ben rubbed Agnes' back and kissed Agnes on the forehead. Feel the sadness his daughter felt.

Ben, Alea and Agnes returned to their starting positions after discussions. Jimmy looked at Agnes and smiled, "Agnes, how?"

"Yes, I will fulfill your wish, promise me you will be healed." Agnes approached, holding Jimmy's hand tightly.

Jimmy looked at Kenneth, "come to Ken." Jimmy called Kenneth.

Kenneth approached, standing beside Agnes. Jimmy grabs Kenneth's hand, and puts Agnes's hand on Kenneth's.

Jimmy looked at Kenneth, "I'm handing Agnes over to you, Ken. Take good care of Agnes for me. (Jimmy looked at Agnes) Agnes, one day you should do your job well. Like you did to me, treat Ken the way you treat me." Said Jimmy.

"Don't say much, brother, restore your health." Answer Kenneth.

Agnes was silent, her heart was so sore and tight, as if it were slashed at Jimmy's words.

"You can go out, I'll talk to the parents." Jimmy asks Agnes and Kenneth out of the room.

Agnes though with a heavy heart finally left, followed by Kenneth behind her. Jimmy conveys what he has in mind, asking his father and mother to invite a priest to marry Kenneth and Agnes in front of him. Jimmy's request is supported by his father and mother.

Meanwhile, outside the room Agnes looks restless, Agnes pacing back and forth in front of Jimmy's room door. Agnes wondered why Jimny wanted her and Kenneth to leave and just wanted to talk to the parents?

Kenneth was also in his own thinking, dreamlike yet very real. Still can't believe what happened.

Long waiting for the door to open, Ben calls Agnes and Kenneth in. Agnes and Kenneth entered without hesitation, the atmosphere in the room was so silent. There were only eyes that expressed sadness.

That night everyone was silent, like they were waiting for something. And sure enough, after almost 1 hour of silence there was someone knocking on Jimmy's room door. The door of the room opened, two people entered the room.

"Sorry waiting for Mr. Carney. I have a job." A middle-aged man walked up to Ben Carney and shook hands.

"I'm sorry I interrupted your time, it's urgent. As I talked about earlier on the phone, this is my daughter-in-law, Jimmy. (Ben Carney introduced Jimmy) Jimmy he's pastor Thomas, the guy you talked to on the phone." Ben explains.

Jimmy smiled, "good night." Greet Jimmy.

"Good night, so did you decide to marry your sister and wife?" Ask Thomas.

"Yes, as you can see. L am.. (Jimmy is silent) I am very confident, please fulfill my request." Said Jimmy.

Thomas looked at Ben, "where's your daughter and your daughter-in-law's sister?" Ask Thomas.

"They're there, (Ben staring at Agnes and Kenneth) Agnes, Kenneth come here." Said Ben.

Agnes and Ken looked at each other. They walked slowly closer to Ben and Thomas. Thomas looked at Agnes and Kenneth, "are you really willing to accept Jimmy's request?" Ask Thomas.

Kenneth looked at Jimmy, Jimmy nodded and smiled at Kenneth. Kenneth sighed, "I will fulfill his request." Kenneth replied without hesitation.

"Then you miss?" Thomas looked at Agnes.

Agnes wants to cry and say no, because Jimmy is the only man she loves. Agnes recalls her promise to fulfill Jimmy's request.

Agnes nodded, "i accept." Agnes replied with a trembling voice.

Jimmy smiled, his feelings so relieved. Thomas looked at Ben, "alright if you have a deal. We can do it now." Thomas.

Thomas gazes at someone who comes with him, Thomas asks Kenneth and Agnes to stand side by side next to jimmy. Jimmy looked at Kenneth and Agnes with a smile. Thomas asks Kennrth and Agnes to hold hands.

"Tonight, I will unite two hearts in one marriage. As we all know, this is a mutual agreement. Kenneth Alexander, are you prepared to accept Agnes Carney as your wife? in love or sorrow, happy or difficult, healthy or sick, rich or poor, and promised to love and love Agnes until death separates? If you're willing, please make a promise like I said." Thomas looked at Kenneth.

Kenneth took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, "I'm ready. I, Kenneth Alexander, am willing to accept Agnes Carney as my wife. In joy and sorrow, in joy or hard, in health or sick, in rich and poor, promising to love and love him until death do us part." Kenneth made a good wedding appointment.

Thomas nodded, looking at Agnes. "Agnes Carney, are you willing to accept Kenneth Alexander as your husband? In joy or sorrow, in pleasure or hard, in health or in pain, in rich and poor. Agnes sighed slowly, "I'm willing. I'm Agnes Carney willing to accept Ken.. Kenneth Alexander as my husband. In joy or sorrow, in pleasure or hard, in health or sick, in rich and poor. Promise to love and love him until death do us part." Agnes said her promise in a trembling voice.

"I hereby declare you both officially to be husband and wife religiously. Tomorrow you can come to take care of your wedding papers." Said Thomas.

Agnes looked away at Jimmy. "Jimmys.." Agnes approached and hugged Jimmy.

Jimmy smiled rubbing Agnes' back, "forgive me for finally doing this to you Agnes, be happy always, I love you so much." Whisper Jimmy.

"Hold on, I don't want to lose you." Whisper Agnes with a sobbing cry.

The atmosphere of the haru became haru, some later, after a calm atmosphere. Thomas and his partner asked permission to leave because their task was done. Ben escorted Thomas out of the room.

 

Jimmy and Kenneth's parents return home, Kenneth takes his parents. While Agnes' parents still stayed a little longer until finally following both parents Jimmy and Kenneth home.

There's only Agnes and Jimmy, Agnes is looking after Jimmy. Jimmy was glad Agnes still cared so much about him, Jimmy was glad Agnes caught him for the rest of his life.
