REX AND REN

REX AND REN
The Worst Things

After school I immediately did a Biology paper assignment about the Plasmodium life cycle. I concentrated on typing word for word on my laptop. I don't want to repeat the value of B minus again, you guys certainly remember I once got B minus in Biology.

When I got to the second page, a notification popped up, telling me there was a new e-mail. When I saw the sender was at Oxford's reception office, I thought the information was just about an additional file of registration. I mean, I did register my college application last week and the results of the admission listed on the new website will be announced next month. So, I'm not suspicious at all.

But when I clicked on the e-mail, my heart seemed to stop suddenly. Broadly speaking, the contents are: 1) they have made a decision for students who are accepted through the initial stage, 2) I included, 3) I got a full scholarship program, and I got a full scholarship program, and 4) I have to confirm and be willing to take the written test next month.

My mouth was open as if I could not believe what I had just read. So I tried to read it over and over and observed my name written there for a few minutes.

Crispy Aulia Chandra

Well, it's not wrong, my name is on the pass list. I can't believe this! I'm accepted! Here's my ticket to Oxford again, one step further to my dream.

I can't hide my happy face at dinner. This is good news I have to share with my family. If you need the whole world.

“Ma, Ren there is good news!”

“I have great news!”

Rex and I said almost simultaneously. We looked at each other, astonished. I mean, how can we talk together like this? But what did he say, he also had good news?

“Cie..about twins, talking so together.” joked mama.

“Ya, already. Who used to talk?” papa said.

Me and Rex are still keeping each other up, judging each other. But then, he sighed and said, “Yes, already. You first, deh.” He finally relented.

My smile turned and looked at my mom and dad.

“Ma, Pa, I just got an e-mail from Oxford.” Stop for a moment to make a dramatic atmosphere. Mom and Dad looked at each other.

“Terus?” said mama.

“Terus... I was accepted!” myrag.

“Wah, the real one, Ren?” ask mom with wide eyes. I also nodded steadily.

“Congratulations yes, Ren.” papa said later.

“Still, Pa.”

“Wah, must be looted, nih.” timpal mama while clapping.

“Let's watch if Ren uda is really legitimate. Ren just passed the first stage must take the test next month.”

“But still, you uda succeeded.”

“Eheemm...” intersect Rex with long dehaman.

“Ah, yes, there is still Rex. Okay, now it's your turn.” said mama.

“Iya dong, Ma. Not only Ren alone who has good news.” he said.

“Iya, what's the good news?” ask papa.

Rex straightened his back while posing a wise kingly style.

“I chose to be a player and captain of the basketball team to participate in the national high school basketball competition.” he said.

Mom immediately cheered.

“Wah, Rex great. Congratulations, Nak.” said Mama.

“Oh, yes. This time it's a real match. There's trophies. There is a prize as well.” he continued again with great emphasis that clearly his words were intended to insinuate me. Well, you remember that time Rex only played a friendly match despite winning with a thin score.

“Wah, I think today all happy. Papa, proud of both of you.” said papa sincerely. Mama herself looked teary, moved to see us.

Again, like there was a very strong inner bond, Rex and I stared at each other.

“Lumayan.” I said.

“You, too. Not bad.” reply.

Then we both smiled. Although often do not get along, but I believe the two of us support each other and both want to get the best.

When I told Maya and Vania they were happy and sad too.

“Yes, if you actually study there, we will not see you again, dong.” said Vania. Now the hair ombre is replaced with blood red.

“Just if you go to college later, you don't forget us, Ren. Must frequent video calls, dot.” threaten Maya.

“But this is still the first stage, really. Not yet official, I must take the test again later.” I said.

Maya shakes.

I almost cried because of Haru. How grateful I am to have such wonderful friends. They have always been there and supported me in both joy and sorrow.

I received the same response when I told Mr. Revelation. His eyes immediately glazed over and said, “Congratulations yes, Ren. I am so proud of you. Finally, I have students who can be used as role models for your younger siblings later.”

“Iya, Sir. Thanks though. All this is also thanks to the help of my father. Ren is also very honored and proud to be a student father.” said I who immediately got a hug from him.

So, after telling them, I still have to tell one more person, someone no less special.

Niko was cleaning her computer when I arrived.

“Hai,” my sap.

“Eh, hi.”

“I have good news.” said I can't wait to tell him. Niko's eyebrows shot up while smiling.

“Oh, yes? What?”

I cleared my throat to give it a dramatic effect.

“I pass!” myrag.

“Pass?”

“Yes, Oxford!”

“Serious?” niko asked in disbelief, her eyes widened. I'm nodding.

“Wow! Congratulations, Ren. You're great!” his praise instantly made me fly into the seventh sky.

“Well, it's just the early stages, anyway. Next month the Oxford representative comes here and I have to take another written test.”

Niko shook her head. “But, for the early stages, this is really good, right? The term, next to your feet has menggajek Oxford. I'm sure, exams later, you'll pass.”

“Aamiin..”.

Niko seems back busy with her computer, this time she cleans the sidelines of the keyboard with a brush.

“Terus, how are you?” my many. Niko looked at me confused.

“What's the way?”

“Why don't you come with me to Oxford. There's still time to make a list. I'm sure, with your computer brain, you'll graduate, Nik. You can major in IT.” cerocos expectantly. Well, I really hope we can stay together later, even in college.

He smiled while breathing.

“I told you, I haven't thought. I'm still curious about the start-up I made.”

“Simply, you reconsider what I said.”

“OK.” answers smile.

Days change quickly and time cannot be stopped. Have you ever thought that your life is perfect. Everything that happens in your life is as it should be. In accordance with your plans and wishes. Have you ever thought like that? If so, believe me it's all just a trick of the universe to make us lulled and lulled. Like the song Nina Bobo chanted melodious until we fall asleep. But the truth is not like that. Basically, nothing is perfect in this world.

The news came when my mom and I were watching The Outsider in the tv room. As his main character is running in pursuit of a mysterious entity, our house phone rings. Mom got up and lifted him up.

“Halo?” Mom's voice sounded soft.

“What?” Started to have high intonation.

“Yes God! Where?” This time my mother's voice panicked and made me look at her.

What was?

“Iya, fine. We get there.”

My mother panicked towards me.

“Why, Ma?”

“Ren, you're looking for a change of clothes now.”

“Why?”

“You please grab a few pieces of Rex's shirt. Mama wants to take a taxi.”

“Emang why, Ma!” I shouted because from earlier mama did not answer and only modar mandir panicked. Now her tears are on her cheeks.

“Rex,” Mama paused while wiping tears.

“Say Mr. Alif, Rex accident.”

My heart stopped beating. He took a few moments before my mother finally told me. I ran as fast as I could, climbed into the room and stuffed some Rex clothes into the bag. There's nothing else going on in my brain right now, other than Rex, Rex and Rex.
