Chapter 37's

“I might choose you as the best choice I have right now. But seeing what your family just did, I need something that can protect me in the future.”

Alexander looked at me. Quite a long time silence was created between the two of us. He seemed too surprised to just talk.

“What in your eyes do I feel like?” ask Alexander.

It was as if he was saying that I was underestimating his feelings for me. To be honest, I don't want to underestimate her feelings. But the words about the feeling that he said ‘tulus’ I've also heard from other men before. The man who ended up cheating on me with my half-sister and killed me.

Experience makes me more alert. Moreover, it was far superior in every way compared to Timothee. It was not impossible that he manipulated me and then betrayed me like Timothee did before.

“Is there a reason why you behave like this?” alexander asked suspiciously.

“Just in case,” I said wasn't entirely a lie.

The silence greeted us. The man seemed to be struggling with his own thoughts.

His behavior like this made me even more confident about the decisions I had made.  He made me doubt his feelings for me, let alone his loyalty.

“What request feels so heavy to you?” my many.

I don't really understand why it's so hard to fulfill this wish of mine. Did he not admit that he loved me? But his current behavior seemed to hint that he was planning to betray me later on.

“Maybe you need time to think.”

I turned around to leave Alexander who still seemed to disagree with my wishes.

“Wait!”

The man walked quickly towards me and clasped my left hand. He prevented me from leaving him.

I turned around and stared intently at both of his beads. I took off his hand. I crossed my arms in front of my chest. It keeps me confused and doubting.

“Do you plan to leave me later?” ask the man.

I furrowed my two eyebrows while staring confusedly at him.

“Means?” my many.

“You just asked us to make an agreement,” he said in a doubtful tone.

Sometimes I question: ‘where did the fierce figure that the students in my faculty have always feared?’ or: ‘is he really the killer lecturer I've known all this time?’

Alexander's attitude when dealing with me seemed to be much different when he was a lecturer who was giving a lecture in my class. I even suspect this guy has a double personality.

“Iya,” answer.

“I really want to make a deal with you. Just in case you cheat like your sister.”

The man stared in any direction with a restless look. My suspicions about his rottenness are growing.

“Do you really plan like Timothee?” ask me in a judgmental tone.

“No!” he said in a half-screaming tone.

“Of course not. It's been this hard I got, there's no way I'll let it go just like that,” he continued.

Both of my eyebrows are back I wrinkle. I feel very strange about his behavior right now.

“Then why are you in doubt?” ask again.

“Huh?”

I couldn't understand what the man had just said. We weren't even engaged yet but he already thought I'd leave him.

“Do you think I'm as rotten as your sister?” my many.

The man was silent and did not answer. It makes me laugh.

“It turns out I was all that cheapness in your eyes.”

Alexander ruffled his hair in frustration. He did not deny what I just said. It made me laugh again. I can't believe the person who claims to love me is judging me so low.

“That's because you asked me to date me while you were still engaged to someone else. You're even reluctant to tell me why.”

It's not that I don't understand how Alexander currently thinks of me. Egoku was really hurt by his judgment about me all along.

“So you want to stop everything?” my many.

“Our engagement plan is cancelled?” ask me again in a judgmental tone.

My eyes began to grow because of tears. I don't want to put much hope in him. But I still feel disappointed with him.

“Of course not.”

“Then why do you keep judging me that low?”

“That's because you didn't tell me the reason. It makes me confused. Or indeed from the beginning you already know about the relationship Timothee and Lucy?”

I'm speechless. I don't trust him completely. Plus his assessment of me just now. It made me even more reluctant to tell her everything I had experienced including the replay of time on her.

The man looked at me with a sharp look. The air feels heavy right now.

He exhaled a coarse breath as if disposing of all the emotions that filled him at this moment. He became calmer afterwards.

“Maybe you can't tell me everything yet. I'll wait, but please don't take too long,” he said as he held onto both of my shoulders and stared fixedly at my two beads.

“Regarding the agreement you said earlier, I understand the reason for what Timothee has done before. I don't refuse to make it because I also have a condition for me to.”

He pulled me into his arms and hugged me tightly as if afraid I would leave soon if he let go of his arms now.

I'm just silent in my position right now. I didn't push him or return his embrace. I just kept quiet and let her hold me.

“Although you already know it, I still want to say it. I really love you,” he said.

I was silent, not replying to her at all. I'm sure he knows that I don't have the same feelings as him. It may sound very evil, but from the beginning I just wanted to use it because he was the one who always made Timothee feel inferior.

This is all part of the revenge plan I had in the beginning. Loving her was not part of my plan. But on the other hand, I don't want to hate him either. Even though he's been acting really shitty in my previous life.

There is still silence between us now. The atmosphere was no longer calm and felt more peaceful.

“Maybe it sounds selfish,” he said breaking the silence.

“Lying if I don't expect you to return my feelings. I was really expecting it,” he continued.

No sound came out of my mouth to respond to her words. Since then I just kept quiet with the same position in his arms.

“I hope the day you will fall in love with me will soon arrive.”
