The computer screen in front of me displays a map of the Bandung area with the current air pressure information. I should be able to estimate the weather a week ahead easily see my current profession but in fact it is not as easy as the theory taught by the lecturer in college.
"Why did the instant coconut milk ask for his contract at Pine Hill?" Danu shifted her seat a bit closer to me.
"Want to escape from the past he said." My answer is in line with what Caramel said a few days ago.
"So he hasn't been able to move on from Rama?"
"I don't know."
"The rama's a miker!"
I closed my eyes as Danu half-screamed right in my ears.
"Miker how do you mean?" Although trying to stay focused on the map in front of me, but I ended up being influenced by Danu's words. "Why do you have so many terms that I don't understand?"
"What does not understand in this world is that you Ka, Upin Ipin who has not graduated from Kindergarten just know what the piercer means!"
I let out a loud sigh, was Danu a man, her mouth sharp as mama when talking about a soul mate with me.
"I've pointed that origami at Cara."
"Continue?"
"As you may have guessed, Cara thought that the origami I put in her locker was Rama's gift."
"That's it!" Danu hit my thigh hard enough to make me jump in shock, Caramel also likes to hit when talking to me, what does that mean? I think it took hundreds of years to understand human behavior.
"Keep you said what's the same to him?"
"Nothing."
"Hah, why don't you say that the origami in the locker is your gift instead of Rama."
"He won't believe." Of course Caramel would think I was just making up about origami. I know how long Caramel and Rama have been dating, not in months but years. I believe that Caramel's trust in Rama is ingrained, he will believe more in Rama who became his girlfriend for years than I have not even a month known.
"If you knew he'd be guilty for life because he'd been mistargeted." Danu pushed her chair and looked back at the computer screen before her.
I don't want Caramel to feel regret, what more do I want? after this we will get married. I can't be greedy.
"Will it rain next Monday?" I asked Danu even though according to my observations maybe this week Bandung will be sunny with a 40% chance of rain%.
"You know you're more experienced with the weather." Danu scratched her head pretending to focus on the computer in front of her when I knew she didn't mean it.
"Air pressure is high enough at this time then it is likely that the weather will be sunny."
"Hopefully it doesn't rain, I'm sorry!"
"Whatever." I got out of my chair, grabbed my briefcase and stuck it on my shoulder.
We invited 100 people to come on the marriage contract, most of Caramel's family and relatives around 70 people. I'm still wondering if I'm gonna tell Papa he should have come but I'm not sure if he's gonna do that or not. I'm lazy to listen to his rejection, better not to tell.
Papa's shadow with his young wife makes me nauseous, let alone their son who is now in elementary school. The boy was innocent but I didn't like his parents. Papa should be ashamed and leave Jakarta and go to a very far place when caught cheating but unfortunately he still lives here. It's only an hour drive from my house.
The watch on my left hand shows at 16:05 when I get in the car. As usual I'll pick up the sweet Caramel at her workplace. Imagining Caramel's bright smile makes me feel better.
The streets are stuck as usual, this is like a daily meal that must be consumed if you do not feel it one day then you will feel lost. I remembered the piercer, the title Danu gave to Rama. I wonder what that means, instead of asking Caramel I'd better try to find myself.
My index finger typed three words in the search field on Google, the typist is
A second later came the meaning of the piercer.
a person who approaches a thug of his own
Then I knocked on the top article, who knows the meaning is wider than the simple meaning just now. The main focus is driving.
But the more I read the articles the less I understand. If it is connected with Rama, maybe Danu is right. I also wondered why Caramel thought the one who gave origami was Rama instead of me.
I saw Caramel waving his hand as my car stopped right in front of him. He smiled and rubbed on me.
"Look!" Caramel showed two 2×3-sized photos when he just got in the car. It was our photo to complete the marriage requirements as well as the photo that will be affixed to the marriage book.
"Where do you get it?" I asked because as far as I know the photo has been submitted with other letters.
"When I asked for the photo to be printed more to put in the wallet, you want it, I have four sheets."
"No need." I started running the car.
"Why?"
"Later we'll keep it together so I don't need that photo."
Caramel smiled shyly and put the photo in her bag.
"We're going to Papa's house now." His word.
What say? why suddenly asked to go to Papa's house when a few minutes ago my whole mind and body rejected it.
"Other times."
"Now, don't tell me suddenly, however he is your Papa if there is no him then there is no you, besides you say the house is not far from here." Caramel put up a seat belt when I increase the speed of the car because the road is not too jammed.
I turned the car to the left, following Caramel's request to visit Papa's house.
"What did you read again?" Caramel leaned her body looking at the screen of her phone which turned out from earlier still on.
"It's nothing." I immediately covered my phone screen and turned it off. I did set a 30-minute bedtime for my phone, usually it would help me but now it just makes me embarrassed in front of Caramel. I'll set it to 30 seconds.
"Where is the weather on our wedding day?"
"Color bright." My answer.
"May it rain." Caramel clasped his hands together like a man praying. I'm nodding. "How many days are you on leave?"
"Three days."
"What's? not less than a little?" Caramel glanced at me stifled.
"less? I guess it's too soon." I was surprised that Caramel asked for a shorter leave than I expected.
"That's Rafka!" He screamed, I was surprised the second time. "I mean why it's so bad, I'm a week less why it's only three days."
I let out a breath easing my surprise. If it's too soon why he said less quickly, it's just like lying.
"Can't be joked with you, you're serious."
"We're up."
My car stopped in front of a two-story house not too big without a fence. The house hasn't changed since I last visited it last year.
Caramel wasn't in her seat when I took off the seat belt. It seems he was very excited to meet Papa inversely to me.
Caramel pressed the bell near the door twice and waited while looking at me with a big smile. Why is he smiling? because I saw you or because I wanted to see you.
"Yes? find who?"
A 40-year-old woman appeared from behind the door, as if she had not realized my existence.
"Find Papa." I took a step right behind Caramel.
Papa's wife was surprised but a second later changed to spread a smile, towards me and Caramel alternately as if he was welcoming the arrival of his son.
"Let's go in." Bring her.
I took Caramel's hand into the house.
"So soon, I'll call Papa you first." The woman left us in the living room.
Caramel is still consistently smiling, she is indeed too cheap a smile to compensate me who very rarely do that. He will also tell a story without being asked before, very friendly and fun to be a chatter friend. It is fitting that he has many friends.
"Rafka, what are you doing here?"
Therehewas. Papa stays as healthy and fit as he used to be, he seems happy with his wife who is younger than mama. Papa sat in front of me with his wife.
"Next week I will get married, if you have time please come, our marriage contract will be held in Pine Hill." I said in a flat tone.
Caramel's smile faded, she looked at me and saw papa. Maybe he was surprised because my relationship with papa was not as good as he thought.
"Why don't you introduce this beautiful girl first?"
"Papa asked me what I meant by my arrival."
"Know Om, I'm Caramel." Caramel interjected, he thrust his hand at papa.
"Caramel," Papa shook Caramel's hand. "your name is as beautiful as the man."
"Finally Rafka will get married too." His wife also shook Caramel's hand.
"So when are you getting married?" Papa saw.
"Monday ahead." Answer me.
"We must have come."
"Thank you, Om." Caramel nodded respectfully.
"What do you want to drink? or have dinner here too." Bargain papa's wife but unfortunately I won't want to eat in this place.
"No need, we came here just to tell you that, now we're saying goodbye."
"Why rush?" Papa looked at me as if demanding that I stay here longer but don't expect that to happen. He hasn't visited since I was in high school until now. Papa was busy thinking about his wife and their son when he still had two other children, me and Febi.
Now why is he acting as if he cares about me? it just makes me feel less and less at home for a long time.
"We have a lot of business." I followed Caramel.
"See you at Pine Hill Om, Aunt." Caramel held my hand before I left her any further.
"I'm curious about your stepmother's lipstick." Caramel said as we got into the car. It's good that it's all that works for Caramel, the lipstick brand instead of papa's face is like a good parent in general, even though he's just a parent for his child with his current wife.
"I never called her mom." My reply.
"It can be pretty, it doesn't make chapped lips, how much does your Papa earn?" Caramel ignored my words.
"I don't know."
"More who are you or him?"
"Not knowing."
"Maybe sure to Make Over or Maybelline, but judging from the color it's like Kamalia Beauty x Tasya Farasya." Caramel seemed to think hard, I did not understand what the meaning of the series of sentences he said. "Well, I'll ask her about marriage."
"He won't come."
"Definitely come." Caramel clenched a hand full of confidence.
I don't expect anything from them, coming or not it doesn't affect me. It would be better if they didn't come.
