CPTR XIX: Sense of Heart
All eyes are on Mona. His exaggerated and not usually stubborn reactions make everyone wonder what is wrong.
Seeing this even Papa Mona was quite surprised to make. But Mona remained firm in her stance and chose not to budge.
After Ethan's uneasy silence cleared his throat and said, “Director Mona, I understand this is your proposal, but getting help is not a bad idea.”
Mona grunts, “I received help but not from you. Anyone except you.”
Hearing that everyone quickly understood the situation. The problem between them is no longer a matter of mere business but more profound. Seeing this all Seno hurriedly continued the meeting by diverting the conversation.
Mona and Ethan still look at each other. The looks of both were sharp and not wearing. After their meeting was finally postponed for lunch break, everyone immediately stood up to leave the meeting room.
“Director Mona?”
Mona immediately stopped upon hearing her Papa's call. Her father gave her a code to stay in the room and sit nearby. Mona did as she was asked. After the room was completely empty, the two spoke.
“Why you? Do you have a problem with the new employee?”
Mona frowned, “Ya. Pretty much. He's a friend of my High School.”
“Ah, so yes. Papa doesn't know what your problem is but please be a professional. You're not a teenager anymore. We're talking business, why is selfish so?”
“It makes me uncomfortable working. Why did Papa hire him anyway? She just returned to Indonesia a week ago.”
“Iya, know how. He is young, talented, and persistent. Papa heard it continues during a business trip to Munich. Of course it is unfortunate if left alone.”
Mona grew annoyed after hearing all of that. So the reason Ethan's here is because Papa asked for it. What a terrible coincidence that sucks.
Seeing her son pout as Papa Mona chuckles and then asks, “How is your relationship with Devin?”
Mona's mood improves after hearing Devin's name. Mona replied, “We are good. Pretty familiar too.”
“So yeah you guys fit apparently. Hows it? Papa's choice is better than Mama's isn't it?”
“Of course.”
Papa Mona smiled. There was pride in him when he showed that smile.
“You don't need to rush into a relationship or anything. Just relax, just go. If indeed in the future you want to be serious, Papa must support kok.”
Mona nodded small. Suddenly he remembered Audrey and immediately asked, “Papa, what's with the Dubois family?”
“Means?”
“Why do they look hostile to each other so?”
“Who? Devin and his family members? Haha it's their business but for sure the Dubois family doesn't recognize Devin as Dubois. The only one who supported him was only the head of their family who was now yes Devin's own father.”
Mona looked sad for a moment. He asked again, “I heard, Devin's mother was his father's affair..”.
“Oh, about it right. It's a pity that such a great child was born from an affair. If only the situation was right, of course, the Dubois family would be great under his current leadership.”
Mona gave a small nod, her father continued, “You don't have to worry. I'll definitely support Devin as long as he's kind to you. There are many large families who want Devin to win, including the underground family and the criminal kayaking Kolandam family. So you don't have to worry.”
Hearing the name Kolandam again made Mona a little restless. But he ignored that feeling. Mona replied, “Alright. Oh yeah, by the way Sherly is here now.”
“So yes. Finally he finished with his silly adventure.”
“No, he's just here to make money. Then go back there again.”
“Ah, so…. Where does she live now?”
“With me.”
“So. Yes, just add him to your team.”
“Seriously? Ok then! Thanks Papa!”
Mona got up and kissed her Papa's cheek. After that with carefree steps Mona left the meeting room. Mona walked downstairs and when she was about to get into the elevator she found Sherly with her hands full of plastic bags standing tired.
“Haha why do you Sher?”
“Hah? Lo ease of meeting?”
“New aja.”
Mona did what Sherly asked her to do and went upstairs with her. Upon reaching the top, they were not greeted by the hot afternoon sun but a fresh green garden with a sofa and even a swing to relax.
The idea of rooftop garden was realized by the company when Mona was still in high school. Since then Mona has always been eager to visit here to relax in this roof garden.
The two take their place on the white sofa and put Sherly's grocery package there. Sherly takes out a fizzy drink and Mona quickly realizes what Sherly bought.
Two giant burgers complete with fries. Mona usually avoids eating fast food at lunch. But connect him with Sherly so he makes an exception.
“So, how close is it?” ask Sherly.
Mona frowned, “Take guess who's there.”
“Who?”
“Si Ethan.”
“Lah?How can?”
“His formula he returned to Indonesia because of the bokap who made sure he worked.”
“Wah severe anyway.”
Mona nodded then soaked her throat with a cold soda.
Sherly asked again, “But I still don't know why you guys fight..”.
Mona was silent and did not answer. He just lowered his face silently not retaliating.
“Yaudah if you don't want a story. Btw, I was nelfon the Gama.”
“Ngapain?”
“Gajakin he had lunch. He still likes shawarma pedes, right? I have bought it. But the phone didn't pick up anyway. So I stayed in a voicemail aja.”
“Haha he hasn't woken up at this hour.”
“Masa? Whoa crazy is a child.”
“She usually just wakes up in the afternoon.”
“Kok is?”
“Kan sleeps at 8 am.”
“Nocturnal really life.”
Mona smiled and started eating her burger. At that moment Mona realizes Sherly is getting rid of lettuce from her burger. Then lift the tomato pieces and throw them away as well. The last one is red onions.
Sherly doesn't really like vegetables. He's picky and stubborn when he's told you. Finally, until adulthood, the food is still picky.
“Burn you where all day?” ask Sherly with her mouth full.
“Street to the same amusement park Devin.”
“Devin? Devin who?”
“There's deh.”
Sherly gives a probing look. He was about to ask further but he knew Mona couldn't possibly answer him. So he just kept quiet and chose to speculate alone.
In the middle of it all Ethan who eats in the other corner of the park keeps looking down at Mona and Sherly silently. He was about to approach Mona but was afraid she would run away again.
Ethan took a breath. He just wants to talk. But everything is so messy like this. Suddenly Sherly takes the potato and throws it in the air to catch it with her mouth. But then he saw Ethan.
Sherly manages to swallow the potatoes but chokes in shock. Mona immediately helps Sherly and when she hastily drinks her soda.
“Udah spelled out do not toy food.”
“Hehe sorry.”
Sherly smiled and looked back at the spot where Ethan was standing. He's not there anymore. Sherly smiles, she is still wondering why Mona is so angry with Ethan and if Mona doesn't want to tell her, she will force Ethan to tell her.
