CPTR XVIII: A New Co-worker
The next morning, Mona woke up as usual. She was getting ready to go to work with a thick suitcase and her own handbag after a light breakfast. Today they have an important meeting.
Mona went down to the ground floor and got into the car. The car was moving towards the Greenpoint Majesty Group quickly. Along the way, Mona searches for her subscription laundry shop and eventually finds it.
“When is it finished, Bu?” Mona asked as she took the receipt.
“Tomorrow is done kok.”
Mona nodded. “Thank you. I'll come and pick it up tomorrow night.”
He saved the receipt and went back to his car. It took quite a while for him to find a laundry shop because he always forgot about the position of his shop and he hoped to do it sooner because now he was too late.
It was already 9am and this was the first time he was late for work. In addition, remembering that today her father will be present at the meeting makes Mona more misbehaving. His father is the type who likes to joke, but his personality changed when he was leading a meeting. He became a creepy figure and it made Mona uncomfortable.
He sighed and without thinking about it, he headed straight for the meeting room on the 7th floor.
At this moment, inside the clean and tidy meeting room on the 7th floor, long tables were flanked by people in suits and neat and the room was filled with a heavy atmosphere.
Mona's father who was sitting at the end of the table stared at everyone with a cold, unfriendly face. The usual warm smile shared on Mona was as if it was extinct and never existed.
Most of the employees here have heard about Chairman Benny's unorthodox methods of expanding business overseas, and everyone was worried that bad luck would befall them as there were internal rumors about him intent on restructuring the management level.
Now, everyone was just staring at Mona's father while trying not to make a sound.
After a while, Mona's father put down the document and raised his head to face everyone. His eyes glanced at the empty chair on his right side and he frowned.
“Is someone on leave today?”
Seno's co-worker Mona quickly replies when she sees Mona's father's reaction, “Pak Benny, it's Director Mona's place. He may be delayed by something because he is always on time. I'll call her now and check what happened to her.”
The tall-looking jakung Seno hurriedly got up from his chair and tried to contact Mona. Before anyone could react, the door to the meeting room opened from the outside.
“Sorry I'm late!” Mona stopped at the door and apologized. His face was slightly red as he rushed over.
Mona lowered her face and immediately went to her chair. But for a moment she sat Mona was surprised by another familiar figure sitting near her father. It was Ethan, his high school friend and the man who was the source of Mona's headaches every time he remembered her.
How could he possibly be here?!
It took a while for Mona to get back to her senses. Ethan raised his head and looked at the girl who had just barged in. His eyes looked calm as usual while some people threw mixed gazes at Mona.
Mona's father cleared his throat. “Come back to your seat. Next time there will be no exception.”
Mona nodded and went to her chair. He quickly pulled the meeting documents from his bag.
The meeting room fell silent once again.
After a while, Mona's father spoke with his deep and cold voice, “Who is in charge of the project with Blue Sky Corporation in Surabaya? Please report the progress.”
The seno appeared depressed and reported the entire progress of the project clearly. Historically, it was impossible for a manager at Greenpoint Majesty Group to break under the pressure of Mona's father.
Meanwhile Ethan says nothing and just sits there while quietly listening to the manager's report. He simply nodded and took notes in some important parts at the end.
Mona tried to focus and listen carefully. But Ethan's existence continues to make him dizzy and almost vomit.
Suddenly her father looked at Mona and said, “Director Mona, please let us know about the development of the Mirabello Plaza.” project
Mona only realized that Seno had finished her report and now it was her turn.
There was a brief silence before he opened his documents.
His voice was cold and firm. “Proposal Mirabello Plaza is done. Currently, we are in the last stage to monitor business operations. I've analyzed the data here. The results were similar to our expectations. More detailed information will require further market research.”
Mona then raised her head and looked at her cold father.
Mona's father nods then the sensitive Seno goes straight to Mona and takes the documents from her and hands them over to Mona's father.
He flipped through the document and finally said something after a long silence, “I've gone to check the land for Mirabello Plaza personally. Generally it looks pretty good. Seno, create a new team to help director Mona. He seems to be tired”
Mona's father slowly closed the documents as he spoke.
“When going to the area around Mirabello Plaza and I remember that someone had made a proposal about the development of that area before. I've discussed it with the Vice President and we think it's potentially even though it was removed due to another project like Mirabello Plaza.”
Mona's father turned around and looked at Seno who quickly handed her another document.
Seno explained, “Proposal was made by Director Mona and Director Herman. My
feel that their combined efforts feel bold and very fresh.”
“The proposal is ready, I want to try this project, but I will need a more specific proposal. Is there anyone confident enough to complete this project?"
They all glanced at each other. After a few whispers here and there, everyone coincidentally locked their eyes on Mona.
The amount of resources and materials needed for such a large project was unimaginable. Many people will be happy to try but afraid because of the greater consequences of failure.
While everyone was busy looking at each other or looking down to avoid Mona's father's gaze, suddenly Ethan who had been silent since then suddenly raised his hand and said, “Pak Benny, if you can talk, then, I want to try this project.”
Hearing that Mona immediately glared and looked at Ethan fixedly. Mona who still doesn't understand why Ethan is here makes her astonished. He has now volunteered to take on the project.
Indirectly this project will make the two work together. Mona who understands very well the situation hurriedly cuts, “No, this is my proposal so I will work on it. I don't need outsider help.”
Everyone looked at the two in turn. The atmosphere in the meeting room is heating up and Mona will do everything to not get close to this person.
