Hestu is not his real name. He was born with a name no one else knew. He had already changed his real name to Jarot about thirty years ago, when he was very young. He ventured into the streets, not only as Jarot, but also as Rinto, Koko, Mardi, Gustam, and somehow another false name that he had used.
However, after using the name Hestu, he decided not to change his name again.
“Why by name Hestu?” setiawan asked Budi one time after the mobster helped Hestu from his escape to survive as a fugitive.
“Because Hestu brings good luck,” replied the thin but strong man.
Hestu began his criminal journey when he was eight years old and now no one knows how old he is. His family is also not clear where or from where. Many people suspect he is much older than he looks, but not a few who also think that Hestu is actually much younger.
Whatever it was, the person who had a problem with Hestu, could not possibly live to simply breathe out from the top of the bed. They would all die at his hands.
Hestu's name is thought to bring good luck after he helped a Japanese man, named Mr. Watanabe. Watanabe owns a drug business and opens the services of a hitman.
Watanabe had a terrible accident. The driver was burned to death and two of his bodyguards were not safe, drained of blood. Hestu who wanders late at night around the harbor does not expect he helps a group of hitmen who will target a successful businessman in Jakarta.
“You can die just by doing this, Son,” Mr. Watanabe said at the time. He speaks Indonesian very fluently, because his grandfather had lived here long after the war of independence.
“I myself roamed around this late night to kill people who could give me money,” Hestu said at the time.
“So, you're a hit man?” tanya Watanabe who was in trouble was pulled out by Hestu from inside her car which was pulled and badly rattled.
“No, Sir. I am a robber,” replied Hestu, then suddenly he pulled out a knife from behind his shabby jacket.
“Stupid!” snapped Mr. Watanabe who was upset because he seriously injured his leg, instead tried to be robbed. “Help me first. I'll give you money without you robbing me!”
Hestu somehow felt that he had to obey Mr. Watanabe. So, he stopped robbing the man who had just been in the accident, and swept him to a comfortable place.
“I can't call an ambulance or the police,” Hestu said.
“Indeed not necessary,” replied Watanabe back then. “Because you know what I'm here for, son? My dead friends and I came here to kill someone. He lives not far from the housing near this port.”
“Oh, yes?” sahut Hestu doesn't believe it.
“Yes. And the pay we get is pretty big. I shouldn't have come, but I need to make sure everything goes smoothly,” said Watanabe who tried to put his back more precisely onto a piece of wall to make it feel comfortable.
“You're a hit man?”
“That's right, Nak.”
“And apparently you guys failed because of an accident.”
“Yes, my driver was drunk and he had a fight with my niece earlier! The boy came with me for an internship,” replied Mr Watanabe.
The Japanese man stared into Hestu's eyes. “You've killed how many people, son?”
“Four, sir,” replied Hestu who now seemed interested in the charismatic Japanese man.
“Tonight can you add five?” watanabe said while coughing.
“Certainly can, Sir.”
“Well, you did that. Then not only will you earn a little money, but you'll get a new job. How?”
Hestu obviously did not reject the offer of gold. He leaves for the target's house as per instructions from Mr. Watanabe, and brushes the businessman without much difficulty.
Hestu was probably still too careless back then. He was caught on CCTV.
Hestu pulled the camera out of his pocket. Mr. Watanabe's camera. The Japanese man smiled happily. From the photo, it looks like the target is dead.
“Good. Not as complicated as I thought. Now get me out of here. You will not return to Jakarta until uncertain time,” Watanabe said.
Hestu understands that.
He helped the Japanese man get up, clear the road, and look for a dark taxi, his subscription when he robbed people in the deserted area, to head to his cramped residence on the corner of the harbor. Two days later, Hestu was already in Japan, becoming Watanabe's subordinate.

“Then how are you imprisoned? So the international fugitive of all. The death of the Japanese politician, yes?” ask Setiawan Budi.
“Not just that, Sir,” replied Hestu.
Indeed, the status of Hestu who is considered a dangerous criminal is not only about the death of a Japanese politician in his hands, but also several important figures from various parts of the world. Mr. Watanabe seems to have succeeded in educating Hestu, and reportedly, he is revered by Hestu as a god.
When Mr. Watanabe dies on a mission, Hestu inherits a fortune from the teacher. Yeah, that's how he thinks Watanabe is. Perhaps he and Watanabe are not much different from Aditya and Teacher Without a Name. Only their paths are different. That's why Hestu wanted to kill Aditya so badly.
Watanabe's legacy is not only a treasure, but also a girl who also did not mind Hestu holding the seat ‘company’ late father. The girl is Miko. He later married Hestu and had four children.
Hestu was unable to escape after being framed by his own client one time when he began a murder mission in Russia. He was held there by a number of mercenaries, tortured, treated like an animal before being handed over to the police. In prison, he gets a lot of unpleasant experiences, but it just makes Hestu feel much more alive.
“I never felt more alive before that day,” his story to Setiawan Budi.
Hestu admitted in the Russian prison that he killed a dozen other prisoners who were mocking and belittling him. Kill them using only a broom handle.
Hestu was escorted to a tighter prison, at another location in Western Europe. And he killed the inmates again. He continued to move from place to place, until one time a judge in Germany decided to give him a sentence of four hundred years in prison.
“Four hundred years. It means I was told to rot in that place until I no longer breathe,” he said coldly.
That's why Hestu ran away. He escaped in ways that one day became a legend among inmates in some of the most famous prisons around the world.
Reportedly, black magic played a big role in the success of his escape, but Hestu always denied that.
“I ran away because I was smart,” he said always if telling stories about his past.
Now, he who should have been on the top of the world, even became the dog of a toothless mafia figure named Setiawan Budi. He no longer wanted to travel abroad. He wanted to settle in his homeland, and it was Setiawan Budi who at that time could provide protection.
But, Setiawan Budi is now useless.
Hestu entered the master's room, and saw Setiawan Budi taking off his clothes, unaware of his arrival.
Hestu stepped quietly, approaching and approaching. The knife he slashed to the neck of the master after full strength he turned the body of Setiawan Budi to face him.
“Sat loe, Hestu! savage dog!” pekik Setiawan Budi is unfortunately too late. Blood gushed from his neck.
Setiawan Budi collapsed. It was in vain to block the flow of blood from his torn neck.
Before dying, he had heard all Hestu's confession, that the ‘anjing’ guard was the one who betrayed him all this time.
Setiawan Budi died in a bloody condition. It was only discovered two hours later by a mistress who had just returned home from the disco, who was screaming. He testified that he saw the window glass break. He swore to see there were many traces of muddy shoes in the room.
People immediately suspected that it must have been a competitor who killed the old man.
