"Sorry Caitlyn, this is the fourth time you've done anything wrong. Many of your colleagues are uncomfortable. So, from tomorrow on you don't have to come to this place anymore."
That's a real sentence that Caitlyn didn't hear five minutes ago from her former boss.
Caitlyn let out a long breath. In these two months he had changed jobs twelve times. No place really wants to hire him as an employee, because of the various careless attitudes he has.
Caitlyn's focus and purpose in life has been lost along with the death of Sean, the man who has been her husband for eight years.
Sean's single accident brings both pain and suffering to Caitlyn and her two children, Chloe and Wayne. Their lives that had originally been flooded with treasures changed in just an instant.
Sean's family, who never agreed to their marriage, then charged all the blame on Caitlyn. The three were driven out of the magnificent palace of the Edmund family without mercy.
As a result, for the sake of cheaper living costs, Caitlyn decided to travel far from New York to Harlingen, Texas.
However, when he got there Caitlyn and her two children even almost left in the streets. He knew no one in this foreign place. Moreover, Caitlyn did not bring much money and clothes.
Luckily there was a kind old woman who accidentally passed Caitlyn, and offered one of her rental residences for half the price.
Caitlyn felt helped, although it did not make the woman feel better at all because she had to face another problem, namely a living.
The 32-year-old woman is now sitting in a wooden chair. In his hand there are several sheets of paper money that become the last salary as well as the handle. Caitlyn hopes the money can last, at least until she can get a new job.
...**********...
Caitlyn rushed to her rental home, when she found the atmosphere in front of the house looked more crowded than usual.
A maniacal woman was apparently cursing Chloe, her eldest daughter, who was bowed while hugging the small body of the younger brother, Wayne.
"What's this about? Mrs Blair, why are you scolding my two children?" caitlyn asked as soon as she arrived before them.
The woman named Blair stares at Caitlyn with her hands folded in her chest. "Your daughter just stole three loaves of bread in my shop, and you know very well Miss Caitlyn, this wasn't just once done by Chloe!" loudly shouting.
Hearing this, Caitlyn stared at Chloe. "Is that Chloe? Tell Mom that what you just heard from Mrs Blair isn't true!"
Chloe lowered her head even more deeply, not daring to look at the look of anger of the mother.
"Cloe!" caitlyn.
Chloe was shocked, her whole body was trembling in fear. "I'm sorry, Mom. I just can't bear to hear Wayne's starving cry, and we don't have food at home" the little girl said.
Caitlyn was shocked to hear the confession of her eldest daughter.
"Look, your son is a thief! I really don't know Adab. It's just right that he doesn't go to school. Your education as a parent is a mess!" Feeling victorious in front of the neighbors who witnessed the event, Mrs Blair issued her insults.
He kept cursing Caitlyn with a super loud voice. No matter what Caitlyn's face was flushed, she endured the embarrassment.
Not only had to face Mrs Blair alone, Caitlyn also had to face the cynical gazes of the neighbors present there.
"How much loss do I have to pay, Mrs Blair?" ask Caitlyn later.
Mrs Blair was silent for a moment, "50 dollars!" replied the woman cynically.
Caitlyn surprised. "A lot, even though the price of one small bread is not up to 60 cents!" the woman did not accept.
"Hey, ladies, this isn't just about changing the price of bread! There are many losses due to your daughter's behavior! Pay or I'll report it to the police station! Of course I'll get more compensation." Madam Blair smiled cynically triumphantly.
Caitlyn budging. The woman could do nothing but obey the will of the shopkeeper. As a result, he also paid the loss of the person using the last salary he had. Inevitably, their eating rations were reduced.
Caitlyn looked at Chloe for a moment, before then walking into the house without saying anything.
"Mom, I'm sorry!" exclaim Chloe. The seven-year-old girl was trying to get her mother to talk. However, Caitlyn was completely unwilling to respond.
"I'm not going to do it again, Mom. Please, don't be like this. Say something!" chloe Pinta with tears.
Caitlyn chose not to care. He was busy frying three eggs that he had bought at the nearest minimarket.
Seeing Caitlyn's attitude, Chloe just kept babbling. The girl did not want her mother to be cold to her. All this time he's been following Caitlyn's orders well. He also looked after Wayne while he was at work.
Chloe is forced to steal bread because she can't bear to hear Wayne's starving cry. Shouldn't the mother understand?
"Mom, is it wrong that I just wanted to feed Wayne, because I don't have any money?"
For some reason, Chloe's question just offended Caitlyn. The woman stopped her cooking activities and yelled at Chloe loudly. In fact, Caitlyn unconsciously floated a slap on her little girl's cheek.
Chloe's surprised not to play. Just because of one mistake, the beloved mother could do that. Chloe actually lost the figure of a wingless angel after her father's death.
"Oh, my God, what did I just do!" As if aware of his actions, Caitlyn immediately ran after Chloe who had already left. However, Wayne's cry forces Caitlyn to stay in place.
Caitlyne sobbed.
...**********...
The sound of knocking on the door rang out, as Caitlyn was about to walk out of the house. The woman had just been intending to find Chloe's whereabouts who had not yet returned home, even though the time had already shown at eight o'clock at night.
However, Caitlyn immediately abandoned her intentions, as soon as she saw Chloe standing at the door with Mrs Pevita, the owner of the rental house she now occupies.
"Cloe!" caitlyn hugged him tightly. The woman cried as she continued to mutter her apologies time and time again.
Chloe returned the embrace of her mother. The little girl also apologized to him, for having said impudent words.
Lady Pevita lets the two of them vent their feelings from heart to heart, before then taking Caitlyn to talk, after Chloe goes to her bedroom.
"Thank you for looking after Chloe, ma'am. I was so outrageous" said Caitlyn. The woman is grateful that Chloe chose to run away to her house.
"No problem, Cait. However, there is one thing I want to tell you." Mrs Pevita put on a serious look, as well as not feeling good.
"Please, Mistress. What's up?" Caitlyn smiled.
"I'd like to apologize before that this notice will hurt you, Cait," Mrs Pevita said.
Caitlyn frowned deeply.
Madam Pevita was seen sighing heavily. "Hook, the neighbors can no longer accept your presence and the children. Chloe's incident that wasn't just once, made them angry. As a result, they asked you to leave here."
Caitlyn looks sculpted.
"I tried to get them to talk, but it didn't work. They even threatened to make my home rental business quiet. You know, this is the only place I make a living."
Caitlyn's eyes turned cloudy. However, the woman tried to shine the best smile she had.
"alright. Tomorrow we'll get out of here, ma'am," said Caitly. He doesn't want to fight. What's more, he kindly allowed himself to stay for a low fee.
Somehow her life is tomorrow, Caitlyn is too tired to think about it.
