Chapter 9: Supervised
“See there. The Emperor of the Sword Leo.”
“Do you hear? He accepted the challenge from Kayn, and they will fight in a month!”
“Cain? He always challenges Leo to fight whenever he gets the chance, and he always loses. Nothing will change this time.”
“I'm not so sure about that. Leo had amnesia, and from what I heard, he didn't even remember how to fight. Things may be different this time.”
“If Leo doesn't remember how to fight, why bother fighting him? It would only make Kayn look like a fool, against someone helpless.”
“I think he's so desperate to beat Leo.”
At another table, some college students muttered to each other, “Don't you think this is the best chance to get in touch with Leo?”
“Hah? Do you want to die? She already has a boyfriend, and she's a witch!”
“Are you talking about Valery? Did you not hear? She's dating John now, which means she's single and available.”
“It's still too risky. I'll wait a few more days before I do anything if I were you. ”
Meanwhile, Leo sat alone at the small table, trying his best to ignore the gaze.
“You're even more popular now that you're back from the dead.” Lilith said to him as she floated to the side in front of him, almost as if she was lying on the bed.
Leo muttered without looking at him, “Can you not talk to me while we are in public? People will think I'm crazy if they see me talking to myself.”
“That's not fun at all.” Lilit frowned.
“You may not care at all about your public image because they can't see you, but I care!”
“You do not have to respond to everything I say, but I will continue to speak. Act like I am talking to myself. I'm satisfied just knowing that you can hear me.
Leo quickly finished his meal and left the cafeteria.
On the way back to the hostel, Lilith suddenly said, “Leo, don't stop walking and don't turn around, there's someone following you.”
“What! Who'sisthis? What do they want from me?”
“That magic student seen from his uniform.”
“Hah? That student? Then I don't have to worry too much about it. He was probably a Leo admirer before.”
Lilith left her side to check the identity of the stalker.
When he returned to his side, he said, “I don't think he's an admirer.”
“How did you come to that conclusion?”
“Because that disciple is Nina Wraith, and she is a witch.”
“Continue? If an old Leo can date someone like Valery, he can also attract other witches.”
“Actually, Nina Wraith is also known as the Necromancy Witch. Don't you think it's too coincidental that someone like him shows up right after you ‘back from Death’? She probably thought you were resurrected with magic or something, so she spied on you.”
“Unpleasant title. Can he raise the dead with his magic or something? And most importantly, is he dangerous?” ask Leo.
‘Nina Wraith... I don't know students by that name in my old world.’ He thinks to himself.
“No, he can't raise the dead. I don't know if he's dangerous or not, but he has a bad reputation in the academy.”
“How bad?”
“Rumor says he likes to experiment on corpses and other things related to the dead.”
“Isn't there some kind of law that prevents people from messing with corpses in this world?”
“Well, it depends on what he does with the bodies, but mostly, what he does is not illegal, and he might just practice his magic, he said, which is quite normal for magicians who study witchcraft.”
“Hm? Is necromancy considered as Black Magic?” Leo then asked.
“Ya.”
“I understand, so she also—”
“Leo! Be careful! He casts magic!” Lilith suddenly shouted.
However, before Leo could react, two hands emerged from the ground below him and grabbed his ankles, preventing him from moving.
“What does this mean?!” Leo shouted loudly.
“Quiet, he only limits your movement.” Lilit says.
A small figure approached him from the shadows a moment later.
“Please calm. I won't hurt you.” Nina Wraith said to him.
“You..”
Leo was surprised by his appearance.
Nina Wraith had a petite body and a delicate face, making it seem as if she was no more than 12 years old. She had long black hair that reached the back of her knees, and her eyes were dark but clear.
When Leo saw Nina Wraith, he involuntarily muttered loudly, “A child?”
Nina's brows twitched after hearing her words.
“Who do you call a child?! I am 19 years old, full adult!” She screamed in a frustrated voice before kicking Leo's knee with her black mary jane shoes.
“Fuck! It hurts!” Leo fell to the ground while holding his knee.
“I thought you said you wouldn't hurt me!” He shouted afterwards.
“It was before you insulted me.” He grunts.
“It is against the school rules to use magic outside the official matches and training centers! You will get into a lot of trouble if the school finds out!”
“It was just a Tier 1 magic spell. I won't be punished for something so small as long as I don't kill you.” Nina shrugged her shoulders.
“You missed a few steps there! Should have been ‘as long as I didn't hurt you’!” exclaim Leo.
“Don't be naive, Leo. She's a witch. He can beat up other students in front of the teachers and get away with it.” Lilit laughs.
Leo gritted his teeth after hearing such words.
‘So this is like my old world, where the rich and influential can get away with anything as long as it is not murder, huh?’ He breathed deeply.
“What do you want from me?” He asked her after forcing himself to calm down.
“I want to see your body and see if you have been resurrected with magic,” he said with an indifferent expression on his face.
“What? That's bonkers. Of course I wasn't resurrected by magic!” Leo denied.
“If that's the case, then why do I feel black magic coming from you?”
“Dark magic? I don't know what you're talking about.” Leo frowned.
Lilith flew in front of him and explained to him, “Black Bullet. When you use magic, mana residue will be left around you for some time before disappearing, and people with the same magic affinity will be able to feel it coming from your body.”
‘What?! Why didn't you tell me something so important earlier?! My secret is now revealed! And it hasn't even been a full day since I came to this world!’ Leo cried in his heart.
“Why didn't you respond?” Nina asked with narrowed eyes, clearly suspicious of her behavior.
“A-I don't know what you're talking about, but I'm obviously not resurrected by magic! It's a misunderstanding!”
“Since you are so sure that you are not a revived corpse, you don't mind me checking your body, do you? I'll leave you alone soon afterward— if this turns out to be misunderstood.”
Hearing his words, Leo looked into Lilith's eyes.
“Let him.” Lilith nodded with an amused smile on her face.
Although Leo did not believe him, it seemed like he had no other choice.
“Good. I'll let you check my body. You better leave me alone afterwards.” He breathed out hard.
“Thanks for your cooperation.” Nina nodded.
‘Together, my ass! You basically forced me!’ He cursed it in his heart.
