Chapter 14: Exhaustion of Mana
‘This guy... Not only did he manage to learn magic spells in seconds, he could even Throw Silent at his first try! Her magic talent is very high!’ Miss Camille cried inwardly after realizing what Leo had just done.
“I'm pretty good with magic, right? How about we throw away the sword and start focusing on my magic?” Leo smiled at the confused Miss Camille.
“J-Don't precede yourself.” Miss Camille frowned after waking up from a daze.
And he continued, “You may have some talent when it comes to learning magic, but you focus on swordsmanship now.”
“I understand that I should keep my appearance as ‘Leo’, but wouldn't that be a waste of my magic talent?” Leo complained.
“…”
After a moment of silence, he spoke, “Listen, Leo. I'll admit that you're very talented with magic. However, that doesn't mean you should ignore everything else. Just because you can train mana doesn't mean you shouldn't train your body, and just because you can use magic doesn't mean you don't have to use weapons.”
“There will be situations where you will not be able to cast your magic, and there will be times when you will have to use your body to survive. In this situation, a magician who can use weapons and has a strong body will win over those who only focus on their magic.”
Miss Camille could not deny the fact that Leo was a magic genius, but she did not agree with the statement that it would be a waste of her talent.
And he continued, “How about this? You can focus on training your magic after you defeat Kayn just by using swordsmanship. After all, you are already 10 years late when it comes to learning magic. One more month won't mean anything.”
“You're right, Miss Camille. It is very important to have a solid body and know other fighting styles even if I can use magic. Sorry, the excitement of being able to learn magic definitely affected my way of thinking.” Leo sighed.
“I will continue to train my sword and body diligently even after I defeat Kayn.”
“Good. Then let's continue your training.” Miss Camille nodded.
Moments later, Miss Camille took another doll from her spatial storage and placed it a few feet away from Leo.
“It was a Magic Absorbent Dummy that evaluated one's magic power, right? I watched some magic students train with them right before coming here. ” Leo recognize dolls made of crystal.
“Yes that's right. Since we already know it, we can skip the explanation and go straight to training. I'd like you to hit the doll with as many Black Bullets as you can use. You can stop once you start to feel dizzy.”
“Oke.”
Leo pointed his finger at the puppet and started firing Black Bullets every few seconds, feeling very fresh to finally be able to unleash and use as much magic as possible.
However, after the 5th Black Bullet, Leo suddenly started to feel dizzy.
“A-What happened to me? Suddenly I felt very tired.” Leo quickly sat on the floor and started rubbing his eyes.
“What you experience is called Mana Fatigue; it's basically your body telling you to stop using magic. This is what happens when you lack mana. If you continue to use magic while in that state, you will lose consciousness, and that is the best scenario.”
“What's the worst-case scenario?” Leo asked out of curiosity.
“Dead you.”
Leo gulped nervously, and he made a mental note of never using magic every time he experienced Mana Fatigue, unless it was a life or death situation.
“This, drink this. It is mana.” herb Miss Camille gave him a bottle of blue liquid.
After consuming the mana potion, Leo could feel his fatigue disappear within a few moments.
‘It feels like soda water..’ thought then.
“How often can I drink this?” He then asked.
“Although you can drink mana concoction every hour, it is recommended that you take it every two to three hours to lower the risk of mana overdose, where you gain too much mana in too short a time.”
“Every hour? Why is there such a big difference in cooldown between stamina potion and mana potion?” ask Leo.
“There are several reasons. The first is which naturally regenerates faster than stamina. Secondly, mana potions were much more advanced than stamina potions because how big the world depended on mana. One more reason is the herb where it contains the actual mana, which will directly restore our mana like filling an empty glass with water. However, you cannot do that with stamina. ”
“So... It really makes sense.”
Moments later, Miss Camille said, “Where you should have fully recovered by now. Go ahead and repeat what you did before. This will tell us which capacity status you are currently in. ”
Leo nodded and started shooting Black Bullets at the doll again, making the doll pulsate a pale blue light at all times.
About a minute and ten Black Bullets later, Leo began to experience Mana Fatigue again.
“Ten Black Bullets, huh? Considering that you just started using magic today, you are above average in terms of mana capacity, I guess. ”, Miss Camille said.
‘Because every Black Bullet uses at least 10 mana, I should have about 100 total mana now, huh? It would be better if the system showed me how much mana I have ..’ Leo thought inwardly.

‘How comfortable ...’ Leo was surprised by the Magic System's response to his wish, and he wondered if there was anything else he could do for that system.
“Nona Camille, I have a question. Let's say Black Bullet uses 10 mana and I have a total of 100 mana. Can I use all 100 mana on one Black Bullet? He asked her a moment later.
“Yes, that's what we call Overcharge— when you use more mana than necessary to strengthen magic spells. However, there is a limit to how much you can overcharge magic spells. Each magic spell would have a minimum mana use. For example, if you only use 5 mana to activate Black Bullet which requires 10 mana, it will not be active.
“As for the limit, it will depend on the mastery of that magic spell and your magic affinity.”
“It is very common for people to overcharge their magic spells, but that does not mean it is harmless. If you try to Overcharge a magic spell past its limit, a magic spell will explode in your face.
“I understand..”
Leo made another mental note to never Overcharge his magic spells past their limits.
“By the way, how do I know I'm close to the limit?”
“When it starts hard to pour more mana into magic spells. You will feel the power of rejection. It's very clear, so you won't miss it, ”.
Moments later, Leo began swinging the sword again while waiting for its mana to naturally recover.
Although he could not use magic when he had Mana Fatigue, he could still use his own stamina to train his body.

As soon as it got dark outside, Miss Camille said to him, “Go to dinner. I'll see you back here in an hour. ”

“Then you will train with me. Actually, I'm not planning on letting you sleep tonight.”
Leo's eyes widened in surprise after hearing his words.
‘If only those words meant what I wanted them to mean ..’ Leo felt the urge to cry after hearing his last few words.
“Why are you looking at me like that? If you want to beat Kayn, you should try at least this much. ” Miss Camille said.
And he continued, “You may not have realized this yet, but your match with Kayn is much more important than you think. I would even say that it will decide whether you live or die in this academy. ”
“A-What do you mean?” He asked for clarification.
“There are many people—students who have a grudge against Leo before, and they are all waiting for the result of your fight with Kayn.”
“If you lose to Kayn, they will definitely reward you with a challenge, and if you refuse, they will bully you to death.”
“However, if you win, there will not be many challengers, and the better your results, the less likely they will try to mess with you.”
“Teriously?! How many students did Leo do before ?! ”

After standing there in a daze for a while, Leo gasped back to reality and spoke in a stern voice, “I'm not hungry! Let's continue the exercise!”
However, Miss Camille started walking towards the exit and said, “If you want to go hungry, you can do it yourself. I'll eat.”
“Also, you are forbidden to practice with magic if I am not here with you because I have not trusted you with magic.”
“I understand.” Leo nodded, and he continued to train with the sword while Miss Camille disappeared from the room.
