A New Day

Today is the first time I have entered a new world of work. The manager I worked for opened a cafe and offered me the job.

After I quit my job and returned to this town, the Manager called me after. He said that he needed an employee because the old employee had resigned on the grounds that he had found another job.

Of course I didn't waste that good opportunity. And without a second thought I immediately accepted the job offered by the Manager.

I looked at myself in the mirror, looking from top to bottom, ascertaining whether I looked neat or not. I thought, my first day should look perfect.

With increased self-confidence, I stepped my foot out of the house. I stared at the morning sky which was still timidly showing its rays. I left early to avoid traffic. Not funny also the first time work must get a reprimand especially from people I respect.

I walked down the streets that still looked quiet, only a few people had gone out to do activities.

It didn't take long, the bus that was going to take me there was already in sight. I immediately boarded the seemingly deserted bus.

I took the earphones from my bag. And put it in both my ears. I have a song to accompany my journey. For a moment this song led me to a memory I once passed through. Remembering the warmth of this broken family.

I wiped away the tears that suddenly dripped. It's a good thing there aren't many people inside here, so no one is aware of my sadness.

I was at my destination. From this bus stop, I had to continue my journey a little on foot. Not too far away, just think of it as exercise in the morning. I'm also used to this kind of activity.

Green Hill Cafe, that's the name I work for. The place is pretty big. With white and brown walls. This cafe features more coffee and cake although there are other menus that can be enjoyed.

When I arrived, I saw a car stop right in front of the cafe door. A woman got out of the car. I went to him as soon as I knew who got out of the car.

“ Manager May,” my handkerchief half-run. Manager Mei immediately turned her head and smiled at me.

“ Yuna.’’

“ How is Manager?’’

“ Good,’’ answer. “ Fast once you arrive, Yuna?”

“ He's manager, I'm afraid late. Anyway this is my first time working, there is no way I left a bad impression.”

“ You this never changes.”

I nodded and smiled.

“ Yes already then help me yes.”

“ Ready Manager”.

I followed him to pick up some stuff in his car. It is only me and manager Mei who have arrived at this place. Other employees have not shown their nose because it is the work entrance hour around 10:00, while now it is still at 08:00. If there was no manager maybe I would have waited a little longer to get bored.

“ Yuna.’’ I immediately replied as soon as the manager called me. “ Sit here,” the door. I went up to him and sat in front of him. “ Have you had breakfast?”

“ Already manager.”

“ Good. Seeing you like this so it's a reminder of the time we were still working there. Fortunately we are still in a match and can meet again here.”

“ But now we've met, right?”

“ Iy”.

“ Yuna, have you met your father?”

“ Already manager. Yesterday I went to see Dad. Although Dad looks fine, but I know Dad is not as good as he looks.”

“ Prayers, it's the best for your father. He's the only old man you've got, don't waste it. Regardless of what happened to your family, but you know that your father is not like that.”

“ Yes, the best prayer is always for Dad and family. Whatever the view of people, in our hearts Dad is not that kind of person. Although the reality now can not be removed, but life still has to run.”

“ You're right. Stay strong, be strong Yuna. Okay.”

“ Ready manager. I will always remember that.”

It is not wrong to admire this figure. His style of speech is smooth and soft, making anyone will feel at home when together with him. Even when I was in trouble it was the manager who always gave me encouragement, she was like a mother to me.

I stared at the clock on the wall. The time is 09:00. One by one the employees who were here had started to arrive. They greeted the manager Mei who was sitting with me. There are two women and four men working here.

After they changed clothes, the manager told them to gather. What more purpose would it be if not to introduce me. My heart started to beat, there was a sudden sense of anxiety coming over. There was a sense of whether they would accept me well or not. Such thoughts often arise when I enter a new place.

“ Good morning all, “ greet manager May.

“ Morning Bu,” answer them simultaneously.

“ I gathered you guys here to introduce our new employees. Name's Yuna. I hope you guys can cooperate well here,” he said introducing me. “ Come Yuna introduce yourself.”

“ Yes manager,” answer me, “ hi, all. I'm Yuna. I'm a new employee here, hopefully we can cooperate well and please brief.”

“ Hai Yuna.” They smiled and welcomed me.

“ Alright Yuna, later you can ask for help with your friends here. And for you guys, please help Yuna so that she can understand how the job is here.”

“ Ready Bu.”

“ Then I stay yes, you guys can start working.”

The manager left too. I and my new friends stay here. They approached me and introduced themselves. There's Adam, Herman, Ruli, Jodi, Widya and Tia.

“ Yuna, later I will help you with whatever you have to do here,” Widya said kindly to me. He looks enthusiastic about me.

“ Thank you Widya, please help, yes,” reply. He also smiled.

But, I felt an unpleasant air as well. A pair of eyes that looked at me from top to bottom. One person who seemed unfriendly to me. This long-haired woman named Tia was acting different from my other five friends. The look in her eyes made me uncomfortable, but I tried to be ordinary and not pay much attention to her. Thank goodness it was just my feeling. However, it doesn't seem like it, it does look like that.

A start that is not easy to live. But, this is life, some accept you warmly and some vice versa. Depends on how we deal with it.
