LDP S3: The Jewel of the Underworld

Ch. 17 — Very Ingenious Tricks.

That explosion of light Qi that was so fierce it was finally able to destroy the huge formation made by Zhao Chen that it turned into ash.

However, Xiao Hong had to pay a heavy price for having used this secret technique. His body was destroyed and turned into fragments and disappeared along with the disappearance of the heavenly light from this place.

Only his navel spear was left and was firmly planted in the place where Xiao Hong had last stood.

Meanwhile, Zhao Chen who managed to survive this explosion also suffered very severe injuries and could not possibly be cured. All of the meridian points in his body were destroyed making him unable to control the flow of Qi. He also can no longer move his body.

“Xiao Hong fucking! If I were to die in this place then I would definitely look for you in the Netherworld.” Zhao Chen cursed loudly to overflow his frustration. Though Xiao Hong could no longer hear this curse.

“Senior, are you okay?”

Zhao Chen suddenly heard the voice of someone from the west accompanied by the sound of footsteps approaching towards him. He immediately turned his head in that direction and saw a demonic figure walking towards him in a hasty step.

Of course this demonic figure was Heilong. He thought that this moment was the right time for him to appear. For, things would be even more complicated if reinforcements had arrived at this place.

“Si — Who are you?” zhao Chen said heavily as he endured the pain all over his body.

Heilong then showed his identity token to Zhao Chen as he said. “I am Zhao Heilong. The special team members were deliberately sent by Demon King Zhao to help the Clan members in case of unexpected things while inside the ancient ruins. However, it seems I came late. I'm sorry, senior.”

Heilong deliberately put on a sad face when introducing himself to be more convincing if he also felt lost for what had happened to the members of the Zhao Clan during his time in these ancient ruins.

“You're not too late. Ce-quickly grab my storage ring,” Zhao Chen replied as he twitched the middle finger of his right hand. Just such light movements alone could Zhao Chen currently do.

Zhao Chen was actually very grateful that he could meet one of his Clan members before the Death God picked him up. Thus, he still had the chance to pass down the orders directly given by Demon King Zhao to Heilong. That way, his name would still be well preserved in the Underworld even if he did not manage to complete the task and died during the journey.

Heilong immediately obeyed Zhao Chen's orders without asking much. There was indeed something important within that storage ring. And, Zhao Chen's life didn't seem to be much longer either.

After the storage ring was in Heilong's hands, Zhao Chen again gave some orders that seemed to be his last message before he died.

“That storage ring I gave you. Inside the ring was an original map to the mysterious world as well as jade tokens containing a way to open the gate to the mysterious world. You must hand over all the medicinal herbs you obtained within that Mysterious World to Demon King Zhao only. Not another Demon King.”

Zhao Chen finally died after delivering his final message to Heilong.

If only Xiao Hong had won the battle then the original map still remained in Zhao Chen's hands. Really a clever trick!

Besides, the, Heilong also got a very interesting information from Zhao Chen that in the mysterious world there are many medicinal plants and the possibility of all medicinal plants in that place is also very rarities.

The most important thing for him was that he had to harvest all the medicinal plants present within that mysterious world as much as possible. And, for the matter of handing him over to Demon King Zhao, it could be thought of later depending on what kind of conditions he would have to face once he reached the Underworld.

Heilong immediately placed Zhao Chen's body in a special coffin that he coincidentally found inside Zhao Chen's storage ring.

He then put the coffin back into the storage ring. Because, he had to hand over Zhao Chen's corpse to Demon King Zhao once he reached the Underworld in order to gain his trust.

Heilong then took out the map inside the storage ring and tried to match it to the location of this destroyed battleground.

It did not take long to determine the location where the gate to the Mysterious World was located because the location indicated by the map was completely the same as the geographical state of the destroyed battleground.

Heilong immediately made his way to the location indicated on the map and stopped behind a hill beside the devastated battlefield.

He noticed that there was a strange pile of rocks around this hill that seemed to have been deliberately placed by someone in this place. Because, the color of this stone is very different from the color of the soil under it.

“As I recall Zhao Chen said that inside his storage ring was a jade token containing a way to open the gate leading to the Mysterious World.”

Heilong went back to inspect the storage ring and saw that there were two jade tokens. It doesn't know which token contains the way to open the gate, so it issues the two tokens from the storage ring.

He instantly looked at what was stored inside the first jade token and discovered that this token had them all what Zhao Chen had experienced during his time in the ancient ruins including his fight with Xiao Hong. However, this token did not record at all when he met with Zhao Chen.

Heilong then looked at the second jade token and read what was written there carefully.

After that, he began to arrange the strange stones around this hill according to the arrangement written in the jade token until the stone array changed shape to resemble a gate.

“Now just activate this formation array.”

Heilong started to read the incantations written inside the jade tokens and an extremely strange light started to spring from each of the stones.
