chapter eight: the prophet isa

In the holy book of the Qur'an Prophet Isa is called by the name ‘Isa with the title of al-Masih and Ibn Maryam. His capacity is as the servant and Messenger of Allah, the word of Allah delivered to Mary, and part of His Spirit. He was born without a father and was a miracle-giving prophet that no other prophet had.

Prophet Jesus had a very strong piety and devotion. In the Qur'an Allah SWT asked the Prophet Jesus if he claimed to be God, then Prophet Isa answered that he did not confess and told his people to worship him but to worship only Allah.

The story of the birth of Prophet Jesus as. is described in QS Maryam/19:16 to QS Maryam/19:40. As for the verse is before the birth of Prophet Jesus as occurred strange events experienced by his mother, Maryam. Among those events was when Maryam was alone, suddenly came the angel Gabriel resembled a human, this story told.

Allah SWT said in QS Maryam/19:16 which reads;

"And tell (tale) Mary in the Qur'an, that is, when she distanced herself from her family to a place in the east. So he held a veil (which protected him) from them; and We sent Our spirit to him, and he incarnated before him (in the form) of a perfect man."

The angel Gabriel came to inform Mary that he would be bestowed upon her a holy son, this is stated in QS Maryam/19:19, Allah SWT said;

He (Jibril) said: "I am but a messenger of your Lord, to give you a holy son.

The more days, the age of Maryam's womb is getting bigger so that it is time for Maryam to give birth to a child. With pain, he forced himself to lean towards the base of the date palm tree. This is illustrated in QS Maryam/19:23, Allah SWT said;

"Then the pain of bearing a child forced him (leaning) at the base of the date palm tree, He said: "Oh, How good it is that I die before this, and I become a meaningless thing, again forgotten."

This verse illustrates that Mary was ashamed of others for what had happened to her, for she was worried that disaster and sorrow would be received after giving birth to a fatherless child. Plus a new difficulty, which is that he needs water to bathe his child, and needs food. Mary was getting sad.

Seeing these conditions, God sent Jibril to comfort Mary, so that he no longer felt sad about the destiny that God gave. In QS Maryam/19:24, Allah SWT says;

"Jibril called him from a low place: "Do not grieve, Your Lord has made a tributary under you."

Gabriel sent a message from Allah SWT lest Mary grieve, for Allah has provided water, a small tributary, and the waters are clear.

Then he was told to shake the date tree so that he and his son could eat and continue their lives. Then continued with QS Maryam/19:26, Allah SWT said;

"Feed, drink, and enjoy your heart, if you see a man, Say: "I have made a vow to fast for the Most Merciful Lord, Then I won't talk to a human being today."

Mary was commanded that she should not think too much about what had happened, she should eat and drink what God had given her, and cast out her sorrow, for God has given her. has purified his future, and cleansed the defamation his people accuse him of.

So they are convinced and admit that Mary is a holy figure again clean of despicable traits. Then Maryam brought Isa as her son to her people as found in QS Maryam/19:27, Allah SWT said;

"So Maryam brought the child to her people with her, and her people said: "Hi Maryam, you have done something very difficult."

Hearing the insults and insults of her people, Maryam pointed to her baby so that they themselves would ask her. They were angry at Maryam for thinking that Mary mocked and played with them. It is contained in QS Maryam/19:29-32, Allah SWT said;

"So Maryam pointed to her son, saying: "How shall we speak to the child who is still in the swing?" Isa said: "I am a servant of Allah, He gave me the Book (Gospel) and He made me a Prophet, And He made me a blessed man wherever I am, and He commanded me (to establish) the prayer and (to fulfill) the zakat as long as I live; and to devote myself to my mother, and He did not make me a proud man anymore wretched."

Every prophet sent by Allah has a purpose or mission in preaching. As for the mission of preaching a prophet according to the situation and condition of his people. Prophet Isa as is the prophet who continued the previous prophetic treatise, namely the treatise of Prophet Moses as as contained in QS al-Shaf/61: 6, Allah SWT said;

"And (remember) when Isa Ibn Maryam said: "O Children of Israel, I am the Messenger of Allah to you, confirming the book before me, The Torah, and, and gave glad tidings with (coming) an Apostle who will come after me, whose name is Ahmad (Muhammad)." When the apostle came to them with clear evidence, they said: "This is real magic."

After the Prophet Jesus was 30 years old, the Angel Gabriel came as a messenger of Allah to make Jesus the Apostle of Allah, connecting the lessons that the apostles had taught before and telling people about the arrival of the last prophet, Prophet Muhammad SAW.

In the Qur'an it is not explained when Prophet Jesus was appointed as prophet, and where his place is. However, the prophetic commandment of Prophet Isa was known from the time he was born and since he spoke to the Children of Israel while still in the cradle. As stated in QS Maryam/19:30, Allah SWT said;

Isa said: "I am a servant of Allah, He gave me the Book (Gospel) and He made me a prophet."

One of the purposes of Prophet Isa was to proclaim that in the future it will be sent by Allah SWT an apostle, namely the Prophet Muhammad SAW which is equipped with a Holy Book (Quran) which contains the teachings of Allah swt. which justifies the previous scriptures that will be delivered to humans. In QS as-Shaf/61:4, Allah SWT says;

Prophet Jesus increasingly dared to correct the Jewish scholars who were considered to be perverted in the Torah teachings. In claiming Prophet Isa as famous as someone who often traveled (moving) a place to bring the good news of salvation. On the way of Prophet Jesus forbade his followers to bring sticks, provisions, money and weapons.

The mission of Prophet Isa as in preaching is to broadcast the true religion, expose the errors and misguidance of the Jewish priest who has far deviated from the teachings of the true Prophet Moses as.

It was even proven to Prophet Isa as that they had forgotten the teachings given by Moses in the Torah scriptures. Already many do not know to Allah SWT, Prophet Isa as conveyed his presence ordered to worship Allah SWT It is revealed in QS az-Zukhruf/43: 63-64, Allah SWT said:

"And when Jesus came with the message He said: "I have come to you with wisdom10 and to explain to you some of what you are disputing about, Then fear Allah and obey (to) me". Verily, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him, this is the straight path."

The miracle that the prophets had as a gift from Allah SWT to face his opponents, and show his apostolic truth and prophethood, so that the teachings he brought could be accepted by mankind, he said, both in the time of the prophet and after. The miracle that was possessed by Prophet Isa is;

Can talk to humans while still in the cradle.

This happened when his mother came to her people and they accused Maryam of adultery, then Prophet Isa as. spoke who at that time was still in the cradle. This is the miracle of Prophet Isa as. This is found in QS Maryam /19:30-31, Allah SWT said:

"Isa said: "I am a servant of Allah, He gave me the Book (Gospel) and He made me a Prophet, And He made me a blessed man wherever I am, and He commanded me (to establish) the prayer and (to fulfill) the zakat as long as I live."

Creating something out of clay resembling a bird.

He can heal the sick and heal the blind.

Turning the dead.

Walk on the surface of the water. According to the expert tale al-tsalabi tells that Prophet Isa as can walk on the surface of the water and not drown. This miracle is not told in the Quran.

They can tell people what they eat and what they keep in their homes.
